Chapter Text
???? Pov:
The white blurred specs of snow is being shown in the background as someone emerges from the dark and dreary woods in the night.
The person sticks to the shadows as if not to be seen. The only evidence that someone could find was the faint footprints imprinted in the snow.
Although they are quickly covered up with the snowstorm happening in the night.
People would say that it was the perfect night to do something that couldn't have them caught.
As the night continues getting later and later by the minute the figure continues to hide in the shadows approaching New York City.
The city had an abundance of buildings, benches, light posts, and many shops. The figure approaches the nearest shop in sight.
The shop was filled with many pastries, some displayed around in little bags and boxes ready to be picked the next day.
It was quiet and there was only one employee in the shop at the moment, they were a black teenage looking girl sweeping the now shiny marble floor. She had her hair in two puffy brown buns.
She was sweeping under some tables in the bakery, she had a name tag that had written on it saying “April”.
The bakery she was in was quite small compared to the others around the city, it had a big window in the front that was shielded by the outside with a soft pink curtain covering the window, the store on the outside was quite bright colored with pastel pinks, yellows and whites.
The inside wasn't very different either, instead it was also filled with more pastel blues, greens, purples, and any bright color you could think of.
The stranger approaching the shop was covered in snow that is sticking on to their coat that is wrapped around them.
They also have a worn out blanket that is draped on top of their shoulders that covers the top of their head covering their face in the process, they also carry a bag that is worn on their back.
The bag itself had patches that were coming loose and looked like it was ready to break at any moment.
The stranger was approaching the shop, now coming out of the shadows to be shown. They went to a halt as the chaotic wind and snow hit their back. They read a sign that said “OPEN FROM 7AM-11PM ON ALL WEEK DAYS”.
The figure then resumed to move heading to pull the door handle, when doing so the door blasted open.
With the being of the wind it was reasonable that the door would have such a force.
Snow was being blown inside the quaint little bakery at quite a quick rate, the girl that was sweeping by the tables had perked up surprised at the now open door being slammed open, also being that there was someone coming at such late hour in the night.
The stranger took long, heavy steps, the girl had held onto her broom watching the stranger that was coming inside the shop with her hands having a tight grip on the broom she had in her hands.
She watched as the stranger had taken exactly 6 steps before they had started to stare at her in the eyes for a few seconds.
She had been a bit taken aback by this loosening the broom in her hands, when April had looked into the strangers eyes.
It may have only been a few seconds but it was long enough that she was able to see a kind of guilt and hurt in their eyes.
A second later the april was out cold, she had fallen on the slick marble floor.
She had also swore that she saw the person have a type of bright green skin peeling underneath the person's coat.
April's pov:
It was my normal night shift that weekend for April. She had started sweeping the shiny marble floor that seemed to glow from the moonlight that had seeped through the glass door.
It had been at least almost a year since she had gotten the job to work at the bakery.
April was pretty proud since she hasn't been able to hold a job for this long (according to her mother).
April had at least more than ten jobs in a year. It may have been a bit of an inconvenience, but April had been used to it.
But now! April had been able to hold her job for almost a YEAR!
Now that she thought about it more she should be celebrating!
But the perks to keeping a job is to make it to all your shifts and stay through the entire shift. So she continued sweeping under the tables of the colorful pastel bakery.
After a few minutes she had almost swept the entire bakery.
She just had one table left to clean under and she would be able to start packing her stuff up.
When she had begun sweeping under the last table she had jumped when seeing a strange person standing in the doorway of the bakery door.
The instant April saw them she had questions flooding her mid by the minute.
*Who Is This Person?!*
*And Why Are They Coming At Such Late Hours?*
*Who Even Barges Into A Bakery In Such A Dramatic Way Anyway?!?*
Questions and thoughts were racing through her head by the minute.
But She then attracted her attention to what the person in front of her looked like.
They were dressed head to toe in raggedy black attire. They also had a bag that looked like it was at the end of its lifetime, it being ready to break apart any moment.
The strange person had stayed by the door for a while, when April had snapped out of her gaze that she was in (even if it was only for a couple seconds).
She had realized that cold wind and snow was sweeping into the bakery from the door.
Though that thought had been long lost once the stranger had started to take a couple steps towards her. April had then instinctively squeezed the broom pulling it closer to her in a way that if she was attacked she could swing it in a way to defend herself.

April was about ready to launch an attack on the person before the stranger had made eye contact with her.
April loosened her broom a bit.
She was caught off guard when the stranger looked into her eyes. Their eyes weren't normal.
They were the kind that looked like they could kill if needed.
The kind that held dread.
The kind that held emptiness.
The kind that held desperation…

The kind… that was…..

lonely.
Unfortunately she was unable to continue her thought process.
She soon felt a thwack to the neck causing her to fall to her unconscious self.
When she was falling to the ground she swore that she saw a bit of green underneath the person's coat…
That didn't sound crazy…. Right?
Right?
She also though of one more word that could describe that odd look in their eyes.
It was….
……………..
The need for help.
