Summary:

The X-Men tried to fight the new Queen of the Vampires.

They have lost, and there are just a few friends left for Ororo to take care of.

Febuwhump 2023 Day 24: Bloody Clothes

Notes:

I honestly have no idea how much Vampire Queen!Ororo fic is out there, but it’s a concept with excellent potential.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

It has been half an hour since the attack on Ororo's forces began.

Jubilee is sure that's less time than she has left to live.

"Ororo, please." The words spill through gritted teeth. Jubilee broke her leg months ago, but Piotr cracked the cast in the fight, and every movement makes Jubilee almost pass out.

Ororo's eyes flicker up, but the only sign she heard Jubilee is the way her smile widens, so Ororo and so alien at the same time. There’s no blood on her costume, no stain on the black leather the way there was on Wolvie’s or Piotr’s clothes. It unnerves Jubilee almost more than blood would.

She has Kitty by the throat, unconscious. Kitty’s necklace is gone; Wolverine took it away, his hand steaming. He’ll heal. Of course he’ll heal. Jubilee wishes she was still in a position to worry for him.

“Ororo,” she tries again. “Stormy; doesn’t Wolvie call you that? We’re your friends. Don’t do this.”

Ororo meets Jubilee’s eyes, and Jubilee is too far to see for herself, but she knows her irises are red.

“Are you sure?” There’s a strange tilt to Ororo’s voice that Jubilee has never heard before and which she is sure doesn’t come from anything a human throat can do. “I did call you my friend, but now you’re trying to kill me.”

“I’m not,” Jubilee protests. “We just want to bring you home, Stormy. You’re killing people.”

“Good,” says Ororo. Ice skitters around her heels as she drags Kitty closer to Jubilee, ice that was also once Jubilee’s friend. It was Wolverine that shattered Bobby. “Good,” she says again. “We are mutants, and we are vampires, and the world will give us what we deserve.”

“Please-” Jubilee tries again, but Ororo has tired of her. She lifts Kitty again, tilting her head to one side, and bites.

Kitty doesn’t wake up, not as the blood trickles down Ororo’s chin and lands on the collar of her cape, not as Jubilee begs and pleads and lunges forward to try to fight for her friend, not as the pain overtakes her in a rush of black spots against her eyes and she falls to the ground.

When Jubilee wakes up, there is a hand at her chin and teeth at her throat and she can’t bring herself to fight to stay human.

Notes:

Same universe as my fill for Febwhump Day 23.

Later today I'm posting three of my last four fics and actually writing the fourth.
