"Just keep waiting," she whispers to herself in the dark quiet of the night. "They said other survivors would be coming eventually. They're coming. They're coming."
But, she also says in the safety of her mind, they said that ten years ago, and you haven't seen hide or hair of anyone yet.
She hears people in the distance sometimes, though. Bone-chilling screams. Gunshots that lure the hordes away instead of toward her.
There have to be other survivors out there somewhere. She just has to live long enough to meet them.
She just has to hang in there and wait.
