There weren’t many things that could surprise Lucifer Morningstar in their own kingdom, what they hadn’t expected after a day of carefully manipulating demons and the damned to keep far away from them and their palace. Lucifer was settled comfortably on a plush lounge they had conjured for themself and was slowly feeling themself fade from consciousness. They felt a pressure, softly pressing onto their chest, Lucifer’s eyes flickered open, there was a large black cat. Lucifer’s confusion was immediate, how did a cat get into his kingdom without anyone noticing? Then they realized the cat had dark void eyes filled with stars.
“Dream?” The Endless said nothing, simply climbed up onto Lucifer’s chest and laid down tucking his paws under his fluffy chest and closing his eyes. Lucifer stayed stock still for a moment, unsure what to do. It was rare that Morpheus visited Hell at all, let alone uninvited, least of all as a cat. It took the angel to wrap his mind around the napping creature on their chest, they reached up and lightly scratched the cat behind the ears. Morpheus’s eyes cracked open and he let out a soft ‘mrrp’ before settling back down.
“Abandoning your kingdom just for a nap?” They continued petting Morpheus, running their fingers slowly through the soft, long fur. Lucifer drifted off to sleep to the rumbling sound of purring from the Endless.
