Invisible String

Summary:

Louis swears on his life that that man came out of literal nowhere and he thanks each lucky star for having good breaks in his car.
This strange alpha also happens to be the most beautiful being Louis has laid his eyes on.

For some unknown reason, the omega feels safe around the alpha. It might seem strange, but you can't always explain why or how things are the way they are. All you can really be sure of is that they happen for a reason. There's a higher power (call it what you want) that knows better and definitely knows more than you do.

Notes:

Hello, I'm back with a new ABO! This one is based on one of the prompt of the BLFF 2022 that hadn't been chosen. I saw it in 2021 and again last year, and I fell in love with it and just couldn't take it out of of my mind. So I asked the fest to write it outside of it and they accepted and I'm so happy they did! I'll put the prompt in the end notes to avoid any spoilers. I also changed one or two details from the original prompt so I hope that the person who submitted it will still enjoy this story.

I loved every minute of writing this story, and I think it's the trickiest one I've ever written so far.

Also, in this fic, harry speaks a language that was inspired by Breton (a Celtic regional language in the west of France) and French. I mixed the two, because to me it fit with where Harry is from. You'll see…

Thank you to my wonderful betas V, Rachel and Anj for always supporting me, helping me and guiding me through my writing and beyond. I love you all.

Thank you to the BLFF for allowing me to write this fic and finally, thank you to you, the readers, for giving my stories and this new one a chance.

I hope you enjoy it.

All the love x

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Day 1

Screaming is what Harry hears first. Screams of terror that rip him out of his well deserved nap after a long, but productive hunting session with his pairs. He sits up in his bed, as the bustling and commotion outside of his Alpha house amplifies. He doesn’t have to wait another second to get up, panic and fear for his people bubbling inside of him.

He barely has time to reach his front door, when heavy knocks paired with the distressed voices of his friends can be heard.

“What the hell is happening?!” Harry says, after opening the door and looking into his best friends’ wide eyes.

He can hear them reply something to him, but the sound is muffled as if his head was buried in cotton, while he takes a look around his village. His pack is running around in panic, trying to escape groups of alphas that he doesn’t recognise, the screams of the omegas and pups piercing through that dizzying shield and ringing in his ears.

“Harry!” Ed shouts next to him, shaking the pack Alpha by the shoulder to bring his attention back to him.

Harry blinks a few times, unshed tears stinging his eyes, “What?” He asks, looking at them.

“It’s the Enedu pack! They’re attacking the village!” David’s voice is quivering, his words making Harry even more confused and scared than he already is.

“What do you mean they’re attacking the village? We’ve always had good relations with them. We invite them to every banquet and vice versa. I also never had any problems with their pack Alpha I-” Harry’s eyes wander through the chaos once more. Nothing has been burnt down yet, but the alpha thinks it’s only a matter of time, “What do they want? I don’t understand!”

“He wants you Harry,” Harry’s eyes widen at Ed’s words, “Their Alpha wants you. That’s what we heard from his wolves, when they entered the village.”

“Fuck” The pack Alpha curses, running his hands over his face. He needs to do something. He needs to do something now to save his people. His pack.

His thoughts are interrupted by the high-pitched cries of the pups, and this cannot be happening right now. Harry must be in a nightmare, there is no other logical explanation for this madness. Unfortunately, life is not that kind, and all of this is more real than ever, and Harry knows exactly what he has to do.

“Ed,” He addresses his alpha best friend and Beta, “Gather all the alphas and betas, be ready to fight and defend what is ours.” Harry’s voice is commanding, his role as pack Alpha taking over his emotions, as he cannot wait another minute in fear of losing his people. Ed nods firmly at the alpha’s orders.

“David,” Harry continues, now focusing his attention on his other alpha best friend, “Go get Emma and make sure all the omegas and pups are safe in one space. Barricade the doors and windows and protect them at all costs. Emma can ask some of the omegas from their fighting group to help you.”

“Understood,” David says, “But what about you?” His eyes are shimmering with worry.

“I will lure Grayson out of the village and into the woods. If he wants me, then I'll see what he wants, far away from here.”

“Please be careful Harry,” It’s Ed’ turn to speak now, “We can’t lose you. We can’t lose our pack Alpha.”

Harry grabs his friends by the shoulder, and gives them a reassuring squeeze, “Don’t worry, you won’t lose me,” He can see that the two alphas are not completely convinced, unfortunately for them, they don’t really have a choice. They have to do what their leader says, “Alright, don’t waste anymore time, GO!”

His voice resonates through the village, as his best friends start to run. From where he is standing, he has a plunging view of his village, and while his eyes scan over it, they land on the person who caused all this misery. Grayson Jones, the Alpha of the Enedu pack. They lock eyes, and Harry doesn’t even have to say anything for the other man to understand. Harry turns around and starts to run in the direction of the woods, Grayson’s cries and orders to his men almost catching up to him.

Harry buries himself into the deep woods, his bare feet taking him far away from his pack in order to protect it, his heart beating just as fast as they smash into the damp soil. His alpha eyes catch the furtive movements surrounding him, and he knows they’ve caught up to him. Harry might be the fastest alpha in his pack, but in his human form, he is still slower than any wolf out there.

He stops in the middle of a clearing, Grayson’s wolves forming an intimidating circle around him, their threatening canines visible from where he is standing. Obviously, the other alpha told his men to transform as he has chosen violence, but Harry decided against it, because he still thinks that they can talk and find a way to stop all of this madness without too much damage. He faces the wolves, standing his ground and defying them.

“Harry Styles,” Grayson’s voice comes from behind him and makes him turn around to look at him, “You made us run,” He tsk-tskes and shakes his head in a bored way, “That’s not very kind of you.”

“You think that attacking my village, my pack, is ‘kind’ ?! What the hell are you doing this for Grayson?! I don’t understand, I thought our packs were friends after all these years!” Harry is fuming from the inside, his breathing becoming heavier.

“Aaah…” The other Alpha nods, as he starts pacing with his hands behind his back, Harry following him with his eyes when he starts walking in a circle around him, “You see, young Harry, there are a lot of things that you don’t know.”

Harry furrows his brows, confusion rising inside of him, “What are you talking about? What ‘things’ ? What don’t I know?” He clenches his fists, too many questions are swirling in his head. What the fuck is going on?!

“Oh you don’t have to worry your pretty little head with all of this,” While Grayson speaks, Harry can see the wolves getting slowly closer and closer to him, “Let’s just say that everything I’ve done over the last few years has been for nothing. I mean, I should've known really,” The alpha shrugs, “But I thought I’d at least try to do it, you know-” He stops his pacing, looking up at the sky, as he thinks and snaps his fingers while he searches for the right word, and Harry stops his movements as well, “The ‘nice’ way, if I can put it like that.”

“What do you mean ‘everything you’ve done’ ? I don’t understand what you’re talking about.” Harry is starting to lose his patience, because as fun as these riddles can be, it’s starting to get annoying, and he feels like such an idiot right now. He needs to know what is going on.

“I know you don’t,” The alpha starts pacing again, “But like I said, it’s alright, you don’t need to know. You won’t need all the information when you’re dead anyway,” Grayson shrugs again, as if what he just said is obvious, and Harry's air gets caught up in his throat. Dead . The word resonates in his head, like a bouncy ball. The alpha must see the shock and fear on Harry’s face and he adds, “Oh yeah, I’m sorry, that’s why all of this ,” He makes a hand gesture to emphasise the word, “Is happening.”

Harry shakes his head, still not recovering from what he just heard, “Why?” He asks, “Why do you want to kill me? I’ve done nothing to you or to your pack that can justify all of this!” Harry raises his voice and his hands to make his point.

Grayson sighs, getting a bit impatient, “I tried to do things differently over the years. I've been very patient. Even your dad died, which was a blessing, because I didn’t have to take care of it myself, though I would’ve loved to take credit for that really. It would've been such an accomplishment,” There is a hint of disappointment laced with madness in Grayson’s voice, that sends a wave of shivers down Harry's spine. When he hears the mention of his father’s passing, his heart clenches with sadness. It’s been years however the wound is still there, “But like I said, nothing that I’ve done to try and take over this pack has worked. So now,” He stops his pacing and faces Harry completely, the wolves even closer now, “I’m taking what I want,” He tilts his head to the side, a devilish smirk on his face “By force.”

Suddenly Harry understands a bit more, but everything Grayson is saying is still so confusing and blurry, “But you have your own pack, your own territory, why would you want to take over mine?”

“Do I really need a reason?” He tilts his head again, and Harry just wants to punch him, “I just want more. I always wanted more,” Grayson takes the remaining steps that are separating him from Harry, the tip of their toes almost touching, the alpha’s strong coffee scent hurting Harry’s head, “And who knows, maybe after I’ve taken your village and the Kann-loar pack, your pack, I can try and take over a few other ones. Who is going to stop me anyway?”. The last words are said in a whisper, as their faces are so close that Harry can smell the sour and deathly breath of the other Alpha, but he doesn’t move. He stays where he is, not backing down.

Harry’s heart is rabbiting in his chest, and he thinks his palms might be bleeding with the force he is clenching his fists, his nails digging permanent marks there. He can’t believe what he is hearing. How can a man be so greedy for power that he would be willing to do all of this? Harry will never understand.

“You’re crazy.” That’s all he says to Grayson, as words fail him in front of such a horrible human being.

Grayson chuckles and takes a step backwards, putting a bit of space between the two alphas, “I guess I am,” he shrugs once more, “But then again, what are you going to do about it?”

“Harry!” The alpha hears his name being called by a familiar voice, and a feeling of relief sparkles in him, but at the same time, he doesn’t want anyone to be hurt on his account.

“Xavier please, go back to the pack. I’ll be fine, I don’t need your help.” Harry says to his family friend of many years, turning around a bit to look at him.

A burst of laughter coming from Grayson, makes Harry jump a little, his attention back on the mad man, “That’s so cute of you Harry. Do you really think that he is here to help you?”

Harry’s brows furrow once more, because nothing that is being said in this conversation is making sense to him, “Xavier, what the hell is he talking about?” His gaze going back and forth between the beta and the other alpha.

“I’m sorry, Harry.”

“What the hell are you sorry for? I- I don’t understand!” Harry’s frustration is palpable in his voice and he thinks he is going to burst any second now.

“I never got any recognition. Not with your father, not with you. I was always in the shadows when I could have been in the light by your side!” The beta’s voice rises with the last words, “But you and your father always preferred your stupid friends over me !” He points a finger towards his chest, “Although I was special. I am special. But after all these years, you never noticed,” There is sadness in his voice and Harry is shocked by these revelations. He never knew that his friend felt that way and it breaks his heart a little. He wishes he could have seen his distress and maybe all of this could’ve been avoided. Even though he doesn’t know what this is, what Xavier did that was so bad, “I helped your dad, then when he passed away, I helped you, but I never got any valuable position in your council, and I’ve had enough. Grayson promised me a high position, so that’s why I agreed to-”

“Xavier, Xavier, Xavier,” Grayson cuts him off, shaking his head, “Let’s not reveal too much, shall we?”

“Sorry.” The beta bows his head and Harry is stunned.

“It’s good that you are here anyway Xavier, because I need to take care of you as well.”

“What?!” The beta snaps his head up, the surprise in his voice is sincere, “What did I do? You promised me! I did everything you asked for, I-”

Grayson rolls his eyes a bit too dramatically, as he cuts him off once more, “Oh please, stop the whining, it's giving me a headache,” The alpha is back to his pacing, now circling Harry and Xavier, “Indeed, you did what I asked for, but look where it’s got me. It didn’t fucking work !” The intensity of his voice makes the alpha and the beta step backwards slightly.

“But if you would just be a little bit more patient, it could-”

“I DON’T WANT TO BE PATIENT ANYMORE!” Grayson’s face is red with rage, and it takes him a few seconds to collect himself, letting a sigh escape his mouth. Harry has never been so terrified of a man before. It is clear that he never really knew him and that he appears to be capable of anything to achieve his goals.

“You know, Harry?” He continues, “Even if he was there to help you, I don’t think he could. He is just useless in everything he does.”

“But I-” Xavier tries.

“SHUT UP! You are no use to me anymore and also, I don’t want you to witness what is going to happen here to your pack Alpha. Well, you already know, because thanks to you we were able to plan our attack,” Harry’s eyes widen, his head snapping in the direction of his ex-friend. So, he betrayed them, “But now that you know that I don’t intend to keep my end of the deal, I don’t want you to spread lies in your pack. Even though, you know, they won’t be lies really, but that’s neither here nor there.” He waves a dismissive hand towards the both of them.

“But you promised.” Xavier’s tone is resigned, laced with anger as well.

“Yeah, well… I changed my mind.” Another shrug. Then he raises a hand and says, with the calmest tone, “Kill him.”

“No! Grayson please! You don’t understand! You’re making a huge mistake! Listen to me please! If you kill me it’ll-”

Harry barely has time to step backwards once again, when half of the wolves surrounding them are jumping on Xavier, his screams and cries of pain echoing through the trees, as he is dragged across the clearing and into the woods by the ferocious animals and away from Harry. The alpha’s heart is breaking in half while he watches the beta who used to be his friend being killed, still not understanding what is happening. Sadness, anger and confusion swirling inside of him.

He blinks away the tears that are now falling freely on his cheeks and turns around, seeing that the rest of the wolves are now getting closer to him.

“Oh please Harry, don’t act like you were close to him. You never really cared, so save the tears for someone else, will you?”

“He was a friend.” Harry tells him through gritted teeth.

Grayson snorts, “I don’t think you will consider him a friend after you discover what he did. Then again, all of that won’t matter in a minute because you’ll be dead.” At the alpha’s words, Harry starts to feel a bit dizzy, he doesn’t know if it’s from the shock of what happened to Xavier, but he doesn’t feel good. His head is spinning, and he has a hard time staying on his two feet, as he slightly sways from side to side.

”Now,” Grayson goes on, his attention back on Harry, ignoring his distress, “It’s your turn Harry,” Panic grabs him by the throat, because Harry feels stuck in place, frozen, and he can’t do anything to try and escape this nightmare, a hammer now pounding inside of his skull, “I should’ve done this a long time ago really, and save me the trouble of going through all this bullshit a few years ago.” Harry can barely hear him through the painful chaos going on in his head. He cradles it in his hands, pressing his palms against his temples as if it was somehow able to ease the pain. In vain.

“Oh my God, stop with these dramatics really! I thought you would have at least tried to fight for your life,” Harry wants to, but he can’t. His whole body isn’t listening to him and starts to feel numb. “Alright, let’s get this over with, it’s taken long enough, and I'm bored.” Harry barely registers the words ‘Kill him’ that are being said for the second time by the man, when he can’t feel his body anymore. He can’t feel anything. It’s like he is being swept away in some kind of vortex, or tornado. He can’t open his eyes as it feels like thousands of daggers are piercing through his brain, and suddenly, everything goes black.

—-------------

“So did you have a good day?” Zayn asks Louis on speaker phone, the latter adjusting the sun-visor in his car, the setting sun on this Friday evening starts blinding him slightly.

“Yeah, it was nice to get out of the shop. Niall put me on delivery duties today. I got the opportunity to visit a bit of the countryside.” Louis replies, settling his hand back on the wheel.

“Oh, that’s cool of you to bring the books to those who can’t come to you.” His best friend comments.

“It is.” Louis smiles, but it quickly morphs into a big yawn that he tries to muffle the sound of with the back of his hand. To no avail.

“Are you okay?” Zayn worries, “You sound really tired babes. Do you need me to come and cuddle you tonight? I know it doesn’t help for long, and that at some point it always starts to get uncomfortable and a bit painful for you, but at least you’ll feel okay for a little while.” Louis can’t help the smile that comes back on his face at Zayn’s words. He is always trying to take care of Louis and help him anyway he can, and Louis loves him so much for that.

“I’m fine, Zayn.” Louis tries to convince his omega best friend and himself at the same time, his body feeling slightly sore today.

“Hmm,” Of course Zayn doesn’t believe him, “Are you sure? I can come by and-”

“Zayn, honey, I told you I’m okay. I think it’s just one of these days where it hits me a bit more than usual,” Louis can hear him hum again, and that makes him chuckle, “My nest will take care of me tonight, don’t worry.”

His best friend sighs, resigned, “Okay, but if you need me, you call me alright? I'll be there.”

“I will. I love you.”

“I love you too, babes. Please be careful on the road while you go home, I don’t want you to have an accident.”

Louis rolls his eyes, even though he knows Zayn can’t see him, “I’m not going to have an acc- OH MY FUCKING GOD!”

Louis’ scream resonates inside the vehicle, as he steps on the brakes with all the force that is in him, to try and not run over the man that just appeared in the middle of the road. Thank god no one was following him.

“WHAT THE HELL! LOUIS! CAN YOU HEAR ME?! ARE YOU OKAY?! WHAT HAPPENED?!”

Zayn's questions fly through the phone, when Louis’ car comes to a brutal stop. His heart is hammering in his chest, as he breathes heavily, staring at the inanimate figure on the asphalt a few feet away from the hood of his car. What the fuck?!

“LOUIS?! ANSWER ME!”

The shouts take Louis out of his trance, and he has to shake his head and blink a few times to be able to answer, “I- I’m okay I-”

“Oh thank fuck! Jesus Christ! I've never been so scared in my life! Fuck! What happened?!”

“I-” Louis lets out a deep breath, trying to slow his heart rate down a bit, his hands shaking as they grip on the wheel like a vice, “Someone just-” He gulps, not really believing what he is about to say to his best friend, “Someone just appeared in the middle of the road, out of nowhere!”

“What?! Did you smoke something today? Did you hit your head on the wheel, Lou? Are you sure you're okay?”

“No Zayn, I-” Louis sighs in frustration, pinching the bridge of his nose with his thumb and forefinger. He knows how this sounds, and can’t really blame his best friend, “I didn’t smoke anything and I didn’t hit my head! I'm telling you, they just appeared! Just like that! Out of thin air! I’m not crazy, I saw them! I-”

“Alright, alright, Lou, calm down babes. It’s okay, if you say it happened, I believe you.” Louis is not convinced and thinks Zayn is saying what Louis wants to hear so as to not upset him even more, but the omega will take it anyway.

“I don’t know how it’s possible, but that’s what happened.”

There is a silence, before Zayn speaks again, “Are you hurt anywhere?”

“No, my neck is just a little sore from the sudden halt, otherwise I’m fine.”

“Okay, then just go back home and-”

“What? I’m not going home without checking if that person is okay!”

“Louis, you’re an omega, alone in the middle of the countryside! You can’t just-”

“I can’t what? I’m not leaving that person if they are hurt Zayn! You didn’t leave me in the street when you found me.” Louis knows it’s a cheap shot, but he doesn’t care.

“That was a totally different situation and you know it!”

“How was it different? Just because we were both omegas?”

“Louis, please,” Zayn begs, “You don’t know who that person is. They could be a dangerous alpha or-”

At that moment, the inanimate figure on the road makes some sort of growling sound and starts to move, getting on their hands and knees.

Louis’ heart, that had somehow managed to calm down, speeds up again at the sound, “Oh my god they’re moving! I have to go check on them.”

“Damn it Louis, please be careful,” Hearing Zayn’s voice, Louis knows he caved and won’t be pushing Louis into leaving again, “Call me if you need me, okay?”

There is another groan from the unknown person on the road, “Okay, I have to go, I’ll call you later, bye.” He doesn’t even wait for a reply, and hangs up, putting the device in silent mode. He unfastens his seatbelt and turns the ignition off, before stuffing his phone in the pocket of his jeans. His eyes still stuck on the person in front of his car.

Louis reaches for the handle and slowly opens the door, setting a foot outside. He gets out of the car and walks carefully towards the person that is breathing as heavily as Louis is right now, the rise and fall of their back matching every breath. Louis’ knees are shaking with every step he takes, and it feels like he is approaching a wild animal, afraid to scare it.

Long chocolate curls are acting like a curtain in front of the person’s face, preventing Louis from seeing it. His clothes seem to be from another century, which doesn’t lessen Louis’ confusion, and he also notices that he is barefoot. As he gets closer, Louis catches the person’s scent, orange blossom and almond, and the omega knows he is in the presence of an alpha. Strangely enough, Louis isn't scared. He doesn’t know why, but he is not going to question it right now. The scent is a bit dizzying but sends a soothing wave through his body at the same time, which gives him even more courage to approach.

Louis takes a deep breath and takes the last steps that separate him from the alpha. He clears his throat, “Hello, um… Are you- Are you okay?”

The alpha who was looking at the ground snaps his head up to look at Louis, and the omega is struck with the intensity of his eyes. They are so green that they feel like they could pierce through Louis’ blue ones. The omega can’t deny how handsome the alpha is, with his sharp jawline and very plump lips. Louis is kind of mesmerised.

The alpha frowns at the sight of Louis, confusion and surprise filling his beautiful eyes, as he takes in his surroundings. He nods, “Pelec’h sui a ran?”

Louis blinks at him, “What?”

The alpha sits back on his knees, and frowns even more, “Pelec’h sui a ran?” He repeats, obviously somewhat frustrated.

Louis shakes his head, as confused as the man, “I- I’m sorry I don’t understand. Um… Do you speak english?”

The alpha nods, “Ya” But Louis can see a bit of frustration in his eyes and the alpha lets out a, “Gast!” Which, by the tone he is using, seems to be some kind of swear word.

Louis doesn’t really know what is going on, so he asks in a different manner, “Are you hurt somewhere?”

The alpha is still looking at him intently and shakes his head, “Nann, mat eo jeu.”

Louis understands that the man is okay, at least he hopes that’s what he means. The omega is a bit out of his element here, and he has to take a step backwards when the man stands up. He is taller than Louis, and has an impressive stature, broad shoulders and big arms molded in the brown linen type of blouse that he is wearing.

The omega instantly crosses his arms in front of his chest as a way of protecting himself, even though he doesn’t feel threatened by that person. Not at all. But his instincts take over him, in case that man wants to touch him. They are closer than they were before, and the alpha’s scent is even more present now, surrounding the omega like a calm wave.

The alpha looks into Louis’ eyes and asks again, “Pelec’h sui a ran?” Gesturing his hands around him to make the omega understand, and Louis thinks he does.

“Oh! Are you asking me where we are?”

A smile appears on the alpha’s face for the first time, and boy does it look good on him. The hint of a dimple teases Louis on the man’s left cheek, but he can’t focus on that right now. The alpha nods frantically, happy that Louis got it.

“We are in the countryside near London,” Louis answers, as the alpha frowns slightly, but nods again, slower this time, as if he is trying to get the information in, “Where are you from?”

“N’ouzon ket.” There is a pause, before the alpha shakes his head and shrugs. The sadness in his eyes makes Louis’ heart sting a bit.

“You don’t remember?” Louis wonders, tilting his head to the side.

The alpha shakes his head once more, and suddenly it hits Louis.

“Wait- Do you understand what I’m saying when I talk in English?”

The alpha nods.

“But you can’t seem to be able to speak in English?”

He nods again.

“But were you ever able to speak English before?”

Another nod, “A ran komzan anglai.”

“Damn, that’s so weird,” Louis lets out in a whisper, confused and at the same time quite fascinated by what is happening at the moment, “How is that even possible?”

“N’ouzon ket,” The alpha repeats, and Louis thinks it means that he doesn’t know, “Te me kompren?” The alpha asks, pointing a finger to Louis then to himself, and this time it’s his turn to tilt his head to the side, waiting for Louis’ response.

If Louis gets it right - he is not sure of course - but he thinks the man is asking him if he understands him, “Um… not literally, but I’m figuring out the meaning with your tone and of course the questions I ask.”

“O” The alpha has a small smile on his face again.

“That I understand though!” Louis says, pointing a finger, and that makes the alpha chuckle in return, and what a beautiful sound that is.

Suddenly, the alpha’s eyes are not on Louis anymore, instead stuck on his car behind him. It’s like the man hadn’t even noticed it was there before. Louis takes a step to the side when the alpha walks towards the vehicle tentatively, as if he was afraid of it, one arm stretched in front of him as if he wants to pet a wild animal.

The whole scene makes Louis laugh quietly behind his hand, while the alpha rounds the car like it’s a dangerous prey.

“Have you never seen a car?” He has to ask, even though his question sounds stupid. He must know what it is. Right?

The alpha shakes his head, his eyes still locked on the automobile, his fingers carefully touching the light blue metal. He removes them right away, as if he has been burnt or has received an electric shock, and Louis can’t help laughing again.

“Really? Never?” Louis questions again, after his laughter has calmed down, the alpha unbothered by it.

“Nann, met jen ai klevet komz.” The alpha replies, his right foot kicking one of the tires with the tip of his toes, earning him another chuckle from Louis.

“I’m sorry, I didn't understand that,” He apologises, “But please, don’t worry, the car won’t hurt you.” Louis smiles again saying the words. This conversation is insane. He thinks.

The alpha raises his head in Louis’ direction and the omega can see some kind of relief in his green eyes. He raises a hand and gestures towards his ear and then to the car as he repeats the sentence again, obviously helping Louis understand, and that just makes the omega’s heart swell. It's barely something, though it’s a little attention that Louis finds adorable. Thanks to those gestures, Louis thinks he gets it.

“You’ve…” He hesitates, furrowing his brows, “Heard of it…? Is that it?”

“Ya!” The alpha gives him another smile and Louis feels proud of himself. One, for understanding the man, and two, for making him smile again.

While the alpha is circling Louis’ car, the omega notices some scratches on his forearm, blood staining the sleeve, and his clothes seem to be a bit damaged, and who knows if the man is hurt underneath them as well, “We should go to the ER to check if you’re not hurt,” Louis tells him and once more, the confusion can be read on the alpha’s face, “The doctor?” Louis tries again, biting his lip, afraid that he will say no.

“O!” The alpha looks down at his body before setting his gaze on Louis, “Mat eo jeu.” He already said that earlier, which Louis thinks means he is fine.

“You might think you are fine, but I would feel better if we went there.” Louis says the words almost in a whisper, not really knowing how to approach the man, and not wanting to upset him even more. He just appeared out of nowhere in the middle of the road for God’s sake!

He doesn’t know why he is doing this, and why he is not getting in his car and driving far away from this alpha and from whatever problems he might bring into Louis’ life, but he is doing it. Strangely, he feels like he has to help this man. But then again, why?   Louis shakes his head to come back to earth.

The alpha is rounding the car, and places himself in front of Louis. This time, the omega fights with his instincts to step backwards and stays where he is, looking deep into the other man’s eyes as he starts to speak, his long chocolate curls floating with the evening breeze, his scent filling Louis’ nostrils, “A-du,” He nods, “Fellout a ra din mont.” His gaze is so warm and comforting that Louis relaxes immediately.

“Does this mean you agree to go?” Louis wants to be sure.

“Ya” The alpha smiles, his dimple popping out again.

“Okay, great. Thank you.” Louis sighs in relief.

“Mann ebet.”

Louis smiles at him and gestures to his car, “Shall we go?”

The alpha’s eyes widen comically as he points at the car, and once more, Louis can’t contain his laughter, “Gwir eo?!”

“Yes,” Louis replies, “Like I said earlier, it won’t hurt you. It’s very safe,” The alpha looks at the car then back at Louis, unconvinced, and the omega thinks he can notice a hint of fear in the alpha’s eyes, “I promise.” Louis tells him sincerely, in an attempt to reassure him.

Their gazes are glued to one another, and it feels like the alpha is looking for something in Louis’. It seems that he has found it, as his face relaxes a bit, and in his eyes, fear has been replaced by something else that Louis would define as trust, but he wouldn’t dare assume such a powerful feeling coming from an unknown alpha.

“A-du.” The alpha nods, letting Louis know that he is okay with getting in the car and Louis smiles gently at him.

“Let’s go.”

Thankfully, no one was driving on the road that they are on while all of this was happening, so Louis wasn’t blocking anyone’s way. He gets into the driver’s seat, and waits for the alpha to open his own door, “You have to pull the little handle.” Louis hollers from the inside of the car, shaking his head fondly, when he sees the other man struggle.

The alpha hears him, and listens to him, pulling the handle and successfully opening the door. He settles into the passenger’s seat, Louis laughing again when the man’s legs appear to be too long for the omega’s tiny car, his bent knees colliding with the dashboard.

“Hold on,” Louis reaches for the handle under the passenger’s seat, the alpha looking at him weirdly as he does so, “Push with your hands on the board,” Louis instructs. The other man does what he is told with a frown on his face, as Louis pulls on the handle, making the seat slide backwards and giving more space for the tall alpha, “Are you comfortable?”

“Ya” The alpha raises a thumbs up, and Louis is satisfied.

“You need to fasten your seatbelt,” Louis tells him, putting on his own to show the man how it’s done, “Like this.”

The alpha mirrors him, and once they are both ready, Louis turns the ignition on.

At that moment, the sound that comes out of the man next to him makes him jump a bit in his seat. The alpha has his feet up on the seat, and he is giving a death glare at the car floor. The omega chuckles at the scene, because this big strong alpha suddenly seems so small and vulnerable.

“It’s the engine,” Louis motions towards the hood of the car, “It makes the car shake a bit, but it’s normal. You’ll get used to it quickly. You can put your feet down. If you want to of course, I'm not forcing you.”

The alpha nods, and tentatively sets his feet back on the floor, one after the other. He doesn’t seem entirely comfortable, but Louis supposes it is normal if it’s the first time you’ve ever seen and been in a car. He pushes on the gas pedal and the alpha makes a scene of dramatically holding onto the door and the dashboard, as the car goes forward.

Louis rolls his eyes fondly, and says, “Oh come on, I’m not going fast, okay?”

The alpha hums in an unconvinced way, and Louis can’t help bursting into laughter again. God, who is this person? A small smile appears on the alpha’s face at Louis’ reaction, and the omega is happy.

“Do- Um… Do you remember your name?” Louis tries tentatively, while he drives the slowest he has ever driven.

The alpha is still hanging onto the car door for dear life when he replies with a nod, “Harry eo ma anv.”

Harry . Louis likes that name. It suits the man really well if he can have an opinion about it.

“Ha te?” Harry asks, and Louis has to take his eyes off the road for a moment to see that the other man is pointing a finger at him, with a questioning look on his face.

“Oh, me?” Louis points at himself as well.

“Ya”

Louis looks back at the road, “My name is Louis.”

“Louis.” Harry repeats, and the omega can hear the smile in his voice. Louis quickly glances at him, and he is right. The dimples are showing up again, “Hollgaer anv.” The words are almost said in a whisper and in the most gentle way, but Louis catches them. He is not sure about what they mean, but he has the feeling that it must be something nice.

With a small smile on his face, Louis continues to drive, very slowly, to the city and to the nearest hospital he can find. Throughout the journey, sounds of amazement leave Harry’s mouth every time they see a big building, and Louis tries his best to be some kind of a tour guide. Harry also makes him laugh a few more times, when the scary London traffic earns him some frightened shrieks from the alpha. Once or twice, Louis considers reaching out a hand to reassure him, but he refrains. First, he met that man not even an hour ago, and second, he is an alpha so the pain will certainly be there.

They arrive at the hospital and make their way to the ER, Harry following Louis like a lost puppy. Obviously, every eye is on them when they pass through the doors. Louis quickly gives his name at the check-in desk, before leading Harry to the waiting area. They take a seat and the judging stares are making Louis feel a bit uncomfortable, but unfortunately, there is nothing he can do to prevent them.

Harry must sense Louis’ discomfort in his scent, as he tries to put a gentle hand on the omega’s forearm, but Louis is quick to avoid it, crossing them in front of his chest. He sends a reassuring smile to the alpha, not wanting to upset him, “I’m okay, don’t worry.”

Harry is not convinced, his brows still furrowed, but he gives Louis a nod and takes his hand back to his lap.

Thankfully, Harry is quite calm and ‘behaves’ himself while they wait, pointing at a few computers and phones that seem to come from another galaxy by the look in his eyes. The ER is not packed this Friday evening, but still, after over half an hour of waiting, they are being called by one of the beta doctors. They are not taken into a room, but in one of the small check-up areas separated by curtains.

“Good evening Mr Tomlinson and Mr… Um… Harry? I’m Dr. Cooper.”

“Yes, hello.” Louis replies to her.

“No last name?”

“No, he doesn’t remember.”

“So he doesn’t have any ID on him I suppose?”

“No”

She furrows her brows, and takes a few notes on her clipboard, “Okay…. Please Harry, take a seat on the bed.”

Harry looks at Louis, as if he was waiting for some kind of approval, and Louis nods at him, giving him the reassurance he needs. The alpha complies, and sits on the edge of the bed, Louis standing next to it, his arms crossed over his chest.

“Can you tell me what happened, Mr Tomlinson?” Dr. Cooper asks, while she proceeds to do the few tests she has to do.

Louis starts to fidget from foot to foot, “Well um… I was driving and then I saw this figure in the middle of the road, so I stopped and went to check on the person. But as I couldn’t really see any injuries, I thought it would be best to come here and be sure.” Louis purposely avoids the part where Harry appeared out of thin air, because it’s one thing to have his best friend think he is crazy, but it’s another to have a whole hospital think that too.

“So you don’t know each other? You’ve only met today?”

“Yes, that’s right.”

“Do you remember what happened Harry? How you ended up on that road?” She directs her attention to the alpha now.

“Nann” Harry shakes his head.

Dr. Cooper frowns, and Louis can see his own reaction from when he first heard Harry speak on her face, “Do you not speak English?”

Harry lets out a frustrated sigh, and Louis knows he has to come to his rescue, “According to what I think I’ve understood,” He looks at Harry, the alpha giving him a thankful smile, before looking back at Dr. Cooper, “He used to be able to speak English, but for some unknown reason, he can’t seem to be able to do it now and can only speak whatever language he is speaking.” Louis glances at Harry again, sending him a look that asks him if he got it right.

“Setu” Harry nods and points a finger to Louis, a big smile adorning his face. Nailed it. Louis thinks proudly.

“He doesn’t remember where he comes from either, and he seems to be amazed at every modern thing here.” Louis adds, so she can have all the information.

The frown on Dr. Cooper’s face hasn’t disappeared, “Okay… Did you hit your head on the pavement?” She asks, checking Harry’s eyes and palpating his head.

“Nann”

“Does your head hurt?”

“Nann, breman plu.”

“Any dizziness?”

“Nann, breman plu.” Harry says again.

Dr. Cooper looks at Louis, with a bit of desperation in her eyes, “I guess that means no…?”

Louis looks at Harry, who is making a movement with his finger, pointing it behind him, nodding his head at the same time, “Before… yes?” Louis tries. Harry smiles and nods again. He then points to the floor in front of him, and shakes his head at the same time, “And now… no? Is that right?”

“Ya!” Harry exclaims, clapping his hands joyfully, and Louis can’t help but feel a burst of pride in his chest for understanding him, and seeing him so happy. Louis doesn’t know what he would do if he was in the same situation as Harry is right now. Not remembering what happened to you or where you come from, and on top of that, you can’t even express yourself the way that you want.

“So your head hurt and you were a bit dizzy before, but not anymore?” Dr. Cooper questions to be sure.

“Ya”

She hums, “Do you think that Harry might have taken some… substances before he ended up on that road?”

“Koi?!”

“What?!”

The alpha and the omega say in unison, both of them a bit affronted with the doctor’s insinuation.

“I’m sorry,” She raises her hands in surrender, “It’s just, given how he is dressed, it looks like he might have come from a costume party of some sort, and maybe he had a bit too much fun,” Louis didn’t really think about that option, but to be honest, something inside him tells him that it has nothing to do with this. He appeared out of thin air! “It’s just an assumption, and I will have to take some blood tests to be sure. Because apart from that option, I don’t see anything wrong physically. Is that okay with you?” She asks both Harry and Louis.

Once more, Harry looks for Louis’ approval and the omega doesn't really know what to say, “Um… It’s your choice Harry, really.”

“A-du.”

Louis turns to Dr. Cooper, “That means ‘okay’,” Harry smiles at him.

“Alright, I’ll do the blood tests, and while we wait for the results, I’ll clean up the few scratches and maybe I can find some other clothes for you to wear.”

“Why do you think he doesn’t remember what happened to him?” Louis wonders, stepping a bit closer to Harry and Dr. Cooper, as she takes some blood from the alpha.

“I really don’t know. There is no wound or anything on his head, he doesn’t seem to have hit it on the pavement. No headaches either, so maybe it’s just a temporary memory loss from some kind of shock, which, obviously, we’re unaware of. I would say that it will come back progressively, just like his English, and if any other symptoms appear in the next few days, like headaches again, or nausea, please come back here so we can do more tests. As he doesn’t speak English for now and doesn’t remember who he is or where he is from, are you okay with taking him home until he remembers a few things at least?”

Louis is frozen in place. What the doctor is saying is that Harry is going to stay with Louis for a while, because someone has to keep an eye on him. But in all the craziness that has been this evening, the omega didn’t even think about that. Obviously he can’t leave him alone, Harry doesn’t know anyone and it seems like everything is new to him, like he doesn’t come from here.

A small wave of fear moves inside him, though it is quickly replaced by a feeling of care and wanting to protect Harry, even though he only met him a few hours ago.

“Mr Tomlinson? Are you okay? Is it something you can do, or we can see what-”

“No!” His response might be a bit too sharp, but he doesn’t really care. Harry is as surprised as the doctor, snapping his head towards Louis when he hears him. Just thinking about the alpha being taken somewhere else, makes Louis a bit nauseous. Yeah, that’s not going to happen . “No, I’ll… I’ll take him home with me, it’s okay.” Louis is playing with his fingers nervously, before stuffing his hands in the front pocket of his bottle green hoodie.

“Okay,” Dr. Cooper sends him a kind smile, “I’ll bring this to the lab, and like I told you, I’ll be back to take care of the wound on his forearm, and with a few fresh clothes.”

“Alright, thank you.” Louis says, when she exits their little area.

“Trugarez.”

“Does that mean ‘Thank you’?” Louis wonders.

“Ya. Trugarez, Louis.”

“Oh, um…” Louis moves from foot to foot once again, a bit shy under the alpha’s gentle gaze, “You’re welcome.” Louis smiles at him, and Harry mirrors him.

While they wait for Dr. Cooper to come back, Louis has to stop Harry a few times from touching the machines filling their stall. The alpha is very curious and intrigued by all the sounds and screens beeping around them.

Not too long after, Dr. Cooper is treating the scratches on the alpha’s arm, and a pile of fresh clothes is waiting for Harry next to him on the bed.

“Alright, you’re all set. Just take the bandage off tomorrow and clean the small wound again and it’ll be fine,” Louis nods at the instructions he is given, “The results of the blood tests should take around 40 minutes to come in, so I’ll let you get changed Harry, and then you can go back to the waiting room. I'll come get you when I have the results.”

“Okay” Louis says.

“I’m sorry, I couldn’t find any shoes other than flip-flops. I hope they are the right size, and I thought that since it’s the end of June, it’s not too bad to wear them,” She chuckles, “There is also a tote bag under the clothes, so you can put your current ones in it, and I’ve put an extra um… pair of underwear…” Louis tries not to blush at Dr. Cooper’s words.

"Trugarez"

“I’ll leave you to it.” She smiles at Harry, and leaves the stall.

The beta barely has time to step out, that Harry is already standing up from the bed and lifting his shirt over his head, letting Louis see his perfect abs and V-lines, and gosh, Louis’ cheeks feel like they are on fire.

A gentle flutter rises in his tummy, at the sight of the beautiful alpha in front of him, and the omega has to hide his blush and embarrassment, “Oh my God Harry!” He squeals, blocking his view with the palm of his hands, “Please wait until I’m outside to get changed!”

The omega can hear the laugh from the alpha, “Nann me derankan.” There is a hint of a smirk in his voice and the flutter in Louis’ tummy tingles him again. Okay that’s enough

“Oh God. Okay, I need to leave.” Louis reaches out blindly behind him to try and grab onto the curtain with one of his hands, the other one still covering his eyes. He can feel Harry stepping closer to help him, the scent of orange blossom surrounding him in this sterile environment, the alpha still chuckling at the scene, “Stop laughing!” Louis says, but he can’t help the smile that spreads on his own face. Louis finally finds the opening in the curtains, and quickly slides between them and out of the stall, Harry’s laughter still tickling his ears.

“Fuck” Louis whispers out once he is safe, and can take his hand off of his face. He knows his cheeks must be crimson red right now, “I’ll be in the waiting room Harry!” He manages to let out, without stuttering, and he mentally pats himself on the back. Well done, Louis.

“A-du!” Harry hollers back from the stall, and Louis quickly walks back to the waiting and reception area. He needs to call Zayn.

He takes his phone out of his pocket, and as he was expecting, there are four missed calls from Zayn, two from Niall, and a text from Liam who must have sent it because his boyfriend threatened him to do so. He doesn’t take the time to listen to all the messages and just clicks on Zayn’s number, while he goes into a corner of the room to be able to talk without disturbing anyone, and so that he can also have an eye on where Harry is supposed to come out.

“Fuck! Louis, where have you been?! I was worried sick!” Is what Zayn screams at him when he picks up.

“Jesus, Zayn. Calm down, I’m fine.”

“Well, how am I supposed to know that if you don’t call me?!”

Damn it, he is right. Louis sighs, “I’m sorry, it’s just that a lot was going on.”

“Are you okay?”

“I am, yes. We are at the ER, and we will be going home in a few.” Louis reassures him.

“Okay that’s goo- Wait…” Oh no. Louis knew it was coming, and he bites his lower lip, waiting for his best friend to speak again, “Don’t tell me you’re bringing this person to your flat, Louis? Please tell me I am misunderstanding what’s going on here?”

“First, he is an alpha and his name is Harry and-”

“Dear lord!”

“And second… Um… Well…”

“Oh for fuck’s sake, Louis!!”

“What?! What am I supposed to do?! Leave him here alone to wander in the streets of London?!” There is silence on the other end of the line, “He doesn’t remember what happened before he fucking appeared on that road. He can’t speak English, and it’s like he is discovering everything we come across that is modern, I-” Louis knows it sounds crazy and that he should be scared of Harry, scared of the unknown that he represents, but somehow, he isn’t. Louis feels like he needs to help him, and what’s even weirder to admit - not out loud, because Zayn would lose it - is that he almost feels safe in Harry’s presence. Louis has no idea why.

“What do you mean he doesn’t speak English and that he discovers things? What’s going on?”

“I don’t have time to explain everything right now, Zayn. I'll call you back tonight, okay?”

Zayn sighs, “Okay, babes. But please, be careful. I know I’m like a broken record, but-”

“I know, it’s okay. I understand. But I’m alright, really. I don’t think Harry is any threat to me. I don’t know why, but I feel like he isn’t. Can you please trust me?”

There is a silence, before his best friend talks again, “Alright.”

“Thank you.”

“Is he okay at least? Is there anything I can do to help?”

“He is, yes. We’re waiting for the results of some blood tests while he is changing into ‘normal’ clothes-”

“What-”

“Don’t ask, “Louis cuts him off quickly, “I’ll explain later.”

“Okaayyy.”

“But I'm sure the results will be clear so, yeah we’ll be going home soon. Um… Speaking of clothes…” Louis bites the tip of his thumb, “Would you mind bringing some of Liam’s clothes for Harry tomorrow morning? I think they are approximately the same size, though Harry is a bit taller for sure, but that’s okay.”

“Oh! Um… Yeah sure I can do that. Do you need shoes as well?”

“That would be great, yes. I don’t know his size, but we can try one of Liam’s and see.”

“Alright, I’ll come by tomorrow morning before I go to work.”

“Thank you so much, Zaynie.” Louis loves his best friend so much.

“You’re welcome. And please call me tonight, because I have a million questions.”

Louis smiles, “I promise, I will.” At that moment, Harry appears through the curtain of the stall wearing a hoodie, some joggers and the flip-flops Dr. Cooper mentioned, it makes Louis chuckle.

“What’s so funny?” Zayn wonders.

“Nothing, it’s just that Harry is ready, and I can’t really leave him alone, so I have to hang up. I’ll talk to you later. Thank you again Z. I love you, bye.” Louis’ gaze locks with Harry when the latter notices him on the other side of the room.

“Oh, okay. Bye Lou. Love you too.”

Louis hangs up as Harry approaches him, carrying the tote bag with what Louis assumes are his clothes in it, and the alpha points at the phone in the omega’s hand, “Petra eo se?”

“What’s this?” Louis asks, moving his phone. Harry nods, “Oh, that’s a phone.”

Harry tilts his head to the side like a puppy, and Louis is so endeared by this enigma of an alpha.

“Yes, it allows you to call people. Even if they are across the world.” Louis explains, at the confusion in his eyes.

“O!” A big smile is back on the alpha’s face.

Louis can’t help but match it, “I'll show you how it works someday.”

“Ya, mar plij!” Harry exclaims, making Louis smile even more, even though he is not sure what the last words mean.

They make their way back to the waiting area, they sit down again, and wait for Dr. Cooper. The stares are still there, but now that Harry is dressed differently, they seem to be more like looking at them than glaring, which Louis wants to roll his eyes at. People can be so judgmental, it makes him feel sick.

He takes the opportunity as they wait to send a text to Niall, telling him that everything is fine and that, just like he told Zayn, he will call him later tonight to explain everything. Louis doesn’t bother replying to Liam, perfectly aware of the fact that he already knows everything Louis told his boyfriend.

They have to wait another 20 minutes, before Dr. Cooper is calling them again. They go back to the little area they were before to have some privacy.

“Okay, so the results came back, and they are clean.”

Harry scoffs next to him, “Anat eo.” Louis also sees him rolling his eyes, and the omega can’t help the snort that comes out of his mouth. He tries to hide it behind his hand so as to not appear too rude in front of the doctor, but to be honest, if Louis could, he would do the same thing.

“I mean, I kind of expected it.” Louis tells the doctor.

“I know, but as I told you earlier, we needed to be sure,” Louis nods in understanding, “So now, all you have to do is wait for his memory and English to come back.”

“How long can that take?”

“A few days, weeks…”

“And what if he doesn’t remember?” Louis wonders, a bit anxiously.

“I don’t know… But I hope it won’t come to that.”

“I do too.” Louis confesses.

If Harry had taken some substances, it would have been easier maybe to explain all of what is going on. But Louis is still set on his belief of this not having anything to do with that, and that’s what makes it a bit scary because then, how can everything that happened be explained? Louis is even more confused than he was a few hours earlier, unfortunately, there is nothing else he can do.

“Is there anything I can do to help his memory come back?” Louis voices his thoughts.

“Seeing as you don’t know him, I don’t see how you can trigger anything,” Louis doesn’t know what he was expecting to hear from her, he kind of knew what she was going to say, but that doesn't prevent him from feeling disappointed, “But keep on taking care of him, and just be there to answer his questions. I think that just your presence is already a big help for him.” She finishes with a smile. Louis knows she is saying this to make him feel better, and not to make Harry panic, but it works a little bit just having that tiny piece of hope that he can be useful.

“Okay, thank you.”

“You’re welcome. Please come back if you need to, okay?”

“We will, bye Doctor.”

“Kenavo.”

Dr. Cooper bids them goodbye in turn, and a few minutes later they are back in Louis’ car, and on their way to his flat. The sun has set now, and Harry is even more amazed by the city lights now, letting out endearing ‘oh's and ‘ah’s as Louis drives. Soon enough Louis is parking in front of his complex, and once again, Harry takes a long look at the building, before entering and following Louis to the stairs. The omega thinks that taking the elevator might be a bit too much for the alpha after this eventful day.

They reach the third floor and Louis takes out his keys to open the door. Once inside, he shows Harry where to put his flip-flops as he takes off his Vans as well. Louis gives him a little tour of his flat, showing him the spare room, where Louis’ is, and of course, the toilet, making a demonstration of how the flush works. He then suggests that maybe the alpha wants to take a shower.

Harry nods, obviously knowing what the word means, and follows Louis again to the bathroom.

“There are fresh towels in this cupboard, and you can put your clothes from earlier in this hamper. I will do some laundry tomorrow evening,” Harry is listening to his every word, and Louis feels a bit shy once again under his emerald gaze, “Um… I’ll um… show you how the shower works.”

Harry doesn’t say anything, and just observes the omega. Louis proceeds in turning the mixer faucet, telling Harry which side is cold and which side is hot, telling him to be careful and not to burn himself.

“Have you ever used one?” Louis questions, drying his hands on a towel.

“Ya,” He nods, “Met un dishenvel.” He sways his hand from side to side.

Louis frowns a bit, “Not one like this?”

Harry nods again, “Un dishenvel.”

“A… different one?” Louis tries.

“Ya” The alpha smiles, and again, Louis feels proud of himself.

“Okay um… I’ll leave you to it. Please wait until I'm out of the bathroom to undress yourself!” He says quickly, earning him a burst of laughter from the alpha, and Louis is a bit mesmerised by the scene. He has to blink a few times to come back to earth and quickly slip out of the room. He can still hear the muffled chuckles from Harry, as he walks to his kitchen, shaking his head fondly.

While he waits for the alpha to be done, Louis decides on a frozen pizza for their dinner. It’s simple but effective he thinks, as he puts it in the oven. He sets the table for him and Harry and a few minutes later, the alpha is entering the kitchen as well. Louis can still smell the orange blossom and almond under the scent of his vanilla shower gel and argan oil shampoo. Harry’s curls are damp and falling to his shoulders. He is wearing the joggers and t-shirt from the hospital, barefoot again, and Louis can’t really look anywhere else. It’s ridiculous really, but the softness that Harry radiates right now is very comforting to him.

“Sa hwezh vat.” Harry is tapping the tip of his nose with his finger, bringing Louis out of his thoughts.

“Oh! That's the pizza.”

Harry frowns and tilts his head to the side, obviously confused at the meaning of the word.

Louis waves a dismissive hand at him, “You’re going to love it, you’ll see.”

“Am eus fizians.” Harry says, with a soft smile and Louis this time, has no clue what he just said, so he just smiles at him and gestures for him to sit down.

Harry complies, the grin still on his face, and agrees when Louis offers him some water. Louis takes his place in front of the alpha and it’s kind of becoming a game right now, as Harry points to something that he doesn’t know and Louis tells him what it’s called, like his microwave or dishwasher for example, followed by his fridge and oven. But for the last two, Harry tells him the same things that he said to him about the shower, “Un dishenvel.”

So obviously, Louis understands that he uses those things as well, but different ones. Maybe he means that they don’t work with electricity. Louis doesn’t exactly know and for tonight, he doesn’t really want to annoy Harry with his boring questions.

The sound of the timer ringing cuts them off and makes Harry jump a little in surprise, and Louis can’t help but chuckle. He goes to take the pizza out of the oven, putting it on a big plate and setting it in the middle of the table.

“Oooo!” Harry lets out, his eyes as wide as saucers in front of the delicious meal, making Louis smile.

The omega uses the pizza wheel to cut some slices, while he explains, “This one is a simple one. Tomato sauce for the base, a bit of ham, and a lot of cheese on top.” Harry’s eyes are sparkling, and once again Louis is so endeared. He puts one slice in the alpha’s plate, before doing the same for him and sitting back in his chair, “Be careful though, it’s hot.” Louis warns him.

Harry nods and blows on the slice he has in his hand, and Louis’ eyes are stuck on the alpha, observing his reaction. Harry takes a tentative bite, and the moan that comes out of his mouth makes the omega want to melt in his seat. He is thankful for not letting any slick slip out, but he is sure that the blush on his cheeks is visible.

He clears his throat and takes a sip of water to refresh himself. Dear God, “So do you like it?” He asks to distract himself.

“Chwek eo!” Harry exclaims, with a thumb up and his mouth full, and Louis can’t help but laugh again.

“I’m glad.”

They finish their dinner, Louis offering some fruit for dessert, and Harry insisting on helping him fill the dishwasher even though the omega said it was okay.

After this eventful end of the day, Louis decides to lead Harry to his spare bedroom for some well deserved sleep time.

“That’s where you’ll sleep, and as you saw earlier, my room is just there,” Louis points to the door a bit further down the hallway. Harry nods, “If you need anything just knock please.”

Louis leads him to the bathroom again and gives him a spare toothbrush, “Ya, anavezout.” Harry nods.

“I’m guessing you have those too?”

“Ya”

“Okay, well, I’ll let you settle, and I’ll see you in the morning.”

“A-du”

“A-du” Louis repeats softly, making the biggest smile appear on Harry’s face, his dimples popping out, “Good night, Harry.”

“Noz vat, Louis.”

They exchange one last look before Louis steps out of the bathroom and goes to the kitchen, to turn off all the lights and close the blinds in the living room. When he is back in the corridor, Harry has left the bathroom and the door of the spare room is closed. Louis walks into his own bedroom to grab his pyjamas and quickly goes to the bathroom to have a shower and brush his teeth as well. He takes the opportunity to relax a bit, the hot spray so welcomed on his sore body. A lot happened in the last few hours, and the omega didn’t even have time to think about it.

When Louis gets back to his bedroom, he closes the door behind him, his nest is waiting for him. All he wants to do right now is lie down in it so that his body can be a bit at peace. But before he can completely relax, or at least try to, he has to call his friends just like he promised.

He sits in the middle of his nest and calls Zayn first, explaining everything that happened with Harry today that he didn’t have the time to tell earlier. He does the same with Niall, and thought that the conversation was going to be longer as he didn’t talk to him at all since Harry appeared in the omega’s life, but of course, Zayn had already filled him in, and Louis has to admit that he is thankful for it.

He takes the opportunity to ask Niall if it’s okay for Louis to come in a bit later tomorrow, and of course, if he can bring Harry with him as he can’t possibly leave him alone in his flat for the whole day. Obviously his best friend agrees, and Louis couldn’t love him more.

After a good hour, Louis is done. He sets an alarm for the next morning and puts his phone on his bedside table and turns his reading light off. He can finally lie down in his nest, gathering one of his favorite pillows in his arms and hugging it close to his chest. He immediately feels a bit better, the soreness in his body still present but bearable.

As everything went so fast in the last few hours, the omega didn’t even realise that the tiredness that he usually feels on a daily basis has somewhat lessened now. Obviously, he is still a bit tired, but with all the events of the day, he should be even more tired than he was, however he isn’t, and he doesn’t know why.

He takes the time now to take in his surroundings, his home, and notices that Harry’s scent has filled it. Louis should be scared of having a stranger alpha in his flat, then again he isn’t, and his scent is somewhat appeasing for the omega. The combination of his own honey and lemon scent with Harry’s orange blossom and almond, makes a soft bubble for the omega.

Too many questions are swirling in Louis’ head and he can’t even begin to imagine what is going on in Harry’s.

Who is Harry? Why did he appear like this? Where does he come from? Why am I not scared of him? Why do I almost feel safe with him?

Too many questions that Louis hopes will get answered someday. Too many questions that he hopes won’t keep him from sleeping tonight.
