PENGUIN’S CHRISTMAS PARTY EXTRAVAGANZA
DECEMBER 18, 8:00 PM TIL THE END OF TIME!!
Address: 498 PT Drive, Unit 12 (townhome with the inflatable penguin outside)
Food, poker, music, and of course the annual tradition that is “hidden mistletoe.”
Oh, and BYOB ‘cause some of you drink like animals (looking at you, Eustass Fuckin’ Kidd).
“‘Hidden mistletoe’?” Luffy reads aloud from Penguin’s text on his phone, brow furrowed.
“It’s nothing,” Law dismisses. The chilly air turns his breath into fog and he curses himself for not bringing gloves. He grabs the six-pack of Red-Haired’s Christmas Ale and shuts the passenger door to Luffy’s truck. “Penguin does it every year. The places he hides it in are so obscure that no one’s ever been caught underneath it.”
Luffy shrugs, shoving his phone in the back pocket of his shorts as they begin walking up the driveway. “If you say so.” He grins at the sight of the giant inflatable penguin in the yard, an eye sore among other kitschy lawn decorations Penguin insists on putting out. Of course Luffy would love them.
Having lived together as teens and college roommates (and unfortunately seeing all that can be seen in such circumstances), Law doesn’t even bother to knock on the front door. Inside Penguin’s home, cheery Christmas music fills the entire house, matching the string of twinkly lights, shiny tinsel, and gaudy holiday knick knacks strung up along the walls and doorframes.
Law eyes the decor with something akin to horror. “And I thought last year was bad."
Luffy laughs. “It’s just like the fire station!”
Penguin appears from the door to the right, face brightening when he sees who’s arrived.
“Law! Straw Hat! Welcome, welcome!” He walks over, only to let out an ‘oof’ as Law thrusts the six-pack at his chest without a word.
“Your decorations are so cool!” Luffy says cheerily.
Penguin looks pleased. “Thanks! Did you see the penguin outside? That was a birthday gift from Law and the guys two years ago.”
Law scoffs. “It wasn’t my idea.”
“Yeah, but he chipped in the most,” Penguin says in a dramatic stage whisper to Luffy. He lets out a loud “hey!” when Law tosses his coat over Penguin’s head.
“Don’t you have hosting duties? Or mistletoe to hide in the bathroom again?” Law says sharply.
Penguin yanks the coat off his head, trademark hat and hair now askew. “So mean.” He turns to Luffy. “He explained the mistletoe rules to you, yeah?”
Luffy shoots Law a confused glance before turning back to Penguin. “It’s just kissing, right?”
“Yeah, but you have to find it first. And if you’re caught under with someone, you have to kiss them - regardless of who you’re with!”
Luffy wrinkles his nose. “Unless it’s Torao, no thanks.”
Warmth blooms in Law’s chest. He has no intention of getting caught under the damn thing - it’s a stupid game involving a stupid tradition - but he can’t deny he isn’t a tad pleased with the sentiment.
Penguin ruins Law’s brief good mood though with a wag of his finger. “Then you have to drink a Blackbeard Shot.”
Ugh. The mention of the name alone almost makes Law gag. Memories of celebrating high school graduation spring forth - or what little of them remain, considering how wasted Law got that night from just two of those shots. The hangovers had been sent directly from hell, knocking him on his ass an entire day afterwards. He would rather eat half a loaf of bread before he touched one of those again.
To Law’s relief, Luffy looks completely disinterested in the abomination. “Never heard of it.”
“Of course not! It’s a most fearsome and dreadful concoction of my own creation,” Penguin boasts proudly.
“It’s fucking disgusting,” Law says bluntly.
Penguin rolls his eyes. “You’re so dramatic, Captain.” He then points a finger in between Luffy and Law. “Oh, and one new rule - couples aren’t allowed to kiss unless they find the mistletoe first.”
Luffy’s mouth drops open. “That’s a dumb rule!” Right as Law says, “Shouldn’t be a problem.”
“Awesome!” Penguin tosses Law’s coat on the coat rack and shakes the six-pack Law brought, glass clinking together. “Fridge in the kitchen is full, but I’ll put these in the cooler in the dining room. You two have fun!” With a jaunty wink, Penguin wanders off, leaving the two of them alone in the entrance hallway.
From here, Law can see a crowd of people in the living room at the other end, the festive merriment well under way; people are waving drinks around, dancing and swaying to the Christmas tunes as they laugh. Some couples are already huddled closed together and necking, blatantly out in the open with no mistletoe in sight.
Law snorts. So much for Penguin’s new rule.
“I don’t get it.” Luffy’s voice snaps Law out of his thoughts and he looks at Luffy, who has a frown on his face. “Why do I need a stupid twig to kiss you when I want to?”
Straight to the fucking point, as always. Tucking his face down to hide the embarrassment that’s surely creeping up his cheeks, Law unravels his scarf from his throat. “It’s just an idiotic game. Don’t worry about it.”
He hears Luffy hum in his throat and that’s all the warning Law gets before a hand yanks on the end of his scarf. He stumbles forward, right as Luffy stands up on his toes to press a kiss on the corner of his mouth.
Grinning, Luffy pulls back. “Your face is red.”
“Shut up.” Law pushes him away, scowling as Luffy laughs loudly. Law should be more irritated, but he only has himself to blame - eight months and Luffy can still rile him up, no matter how hard Law tries to ignore it.
“Some day, Torao, you’ll get used to affection in public.” Luffy claps a hand on Law’s back, though Law quickly shoves it off.
“Not in your lifetime,” he gripes, but Luffy has that smug twinkle in his eye, the one he gets whenever a new challenge is presented in front of him - high diving off the roof into a pool, stealing the local cop Smoker’s cigars, or eating 75 wings in 5 minutes.
Law dreads that look.
“We’ll see,” Luffy trills before something catches his eye down the hallway. “Bonney! I gotta go say hi.” In the blink of an eye, Luffy’s racing off down the hallway toward the living room. Law huffs, choosing to leave him be and hanging up his scarf on the coat rack. Now seems like a good time to grab a drink anyways - alcohol is going to be a must if he’s going to make it through this damn party.
When he walks into the kitchen, he’s met with the sight of Killer, standing near the fridge as though he’s the gatekeeper of beer.
And wherever Killer goes…
With all the disdain he can muster, Law sighs as he walks up to the fridge. “Oh great. So Eustass-ya did show up tonight.”
“You sound disappointed,” Killer remarks casually.
“Just don’t expect me to play doctor when he starts throwing punches.” Law pulls out a random beer and opens it with the bottle opener attached to the fridge.
Killer just smirks. “It’s more likely than you think considering who’s here tonight.” At Law’s raised eyebrow, he points towards the living room and Law follows it, irritation spiking when he sees Kidd talking to Basil Hawkins and X Drake.
Ugh, great. Hawkins and Drake lived in the same neighborhood as Law, Bepo, Penguin, and Shachi after the four of them moved in with Wolf back in middle school. Despite being close in age, the three of them never learned to get along. With Drake joining the Marines and Hawkins eschewing college because it “wasn’t in the cards,” Law was glad to be rid of them.
Figures he’d have to run into them here. Penguin really needs to work on his guest list. Law takes a sip of beer, aromatic but slightly bitter. “What, no fights yet? I’m almost disappointed.”
The grin on Killer’s face promises danger. “The night’s still young.”
Law huffs, amused. With a half-toast of his beer towards Killer, Law retreats back into the hallway. As he’s deciding whether to go look for Bepo and Shachi, he nearly smacks into Luffy.
“Torao!” He latches onto to Law’s arms to steady himself, smile fixed on his face. “There you are. Hey, did you find the food yet? Bonney was eating some meatballs that looked sooo good!”
Law nods his head back towards the kitchen “Go see for yourself. I’m going to look for Bepo and the others.”
“Okay. I’ll come find you later!” After giving Law’s arms a squeeze, Luffy brushes past him. Law watches him leave, then sets out to look for the others.
After 20 minutes of wading through the crowd (and sneaking past the three bozos in the living room), Law finds Bepo and Shachi outside on the deck with Ikkaku and Jean Bart. There’s still a chill in the air and Law didn’t have the foresight to bring his coat. But with all of them huddled around the patio heater, no one even mentions the cold. The alcohol doesn’t hurt either, Law already on his second beer as Shachi and Bepo recount one of their mischievous adventures from childhood to the others.
“We were so close to making off with those potatoes until Bepo ran into the door,” Shachi says wistfully.
“I told Penguin to leave it open!” Bepo protests, waving an arm and nearly walloping Ikkaku in the face. “Ah, sorry.” He’s moved on to his “toasty” stage, cheeks ruddy and gestures becoming increasingly excited.
“You ran into it so hard, Wolf had to replace it,” Shachi points out.
“Just the glass!”
“It was a greenhouse, Bepo, it was mostly glass!”
Ikkaku can’t stop laughing, nearly doubled over herself and even Law chuckles, the memory of Wolf hollering in that gnarled voice of his just as clear as it was all those years ago. Bepo, Penguin, and Shachi always freaked out whenever Wolf yelled his threats, but never Law - he knew those threats were empty anyways.
Bepo continues to grumble under his breath as he brings his beer bottle to his lips, only to frown morosely as he glances inside. “Aw, it’s empty…”
Law polishes off the rest of his beer. “I’ll get you another.” There’s already a pleasant fog in his brain but he’s not uncomfortable, a sense of ease creeping through his body and he figures another one can’t hurt. He grabs Bepo’s empty bottle, making his way inside to the cooler in the dining room. He’s got some seasonal beer in one hand and is reaching for another when a shadow falls over him.
“Trafalgar.”
Sadly, he knows that voice. Law sighs, straightening up. “Drake-ya.”
Drake nods towards the cooler. “Any Seagull Lagers in there?”
“You mean piss water? No,” Law says with a smirk, delighting in the way annoyance flashes across Drake’s face. Good to know that joining the Marines didn’t help with the stick up his ass.
Drake leans past Law to grab a random beer, a scowl fixed firmly on his face. “I see becoming a doctor hasn’t made you a better person.”
A crash rings out from the next room and Law hears Penguin screech, “Oi, stop swinging that, Straw Hat!” Law can only imagine the antics Luffy has to be getting into, but if it’s keeping Penguin on his toes, well…Law certainly won’t stop him.
Amused, he turns back to Drake. “I don’t need to be to be a good doctor. But I see the Marines achieved the impossible and made you even more of a sanctimonious prick.”
“A sanctimonious prick who can still hold his liquor better than you. Unless your tolerance has improved since graduation night?”
“Funny you bring that up. Was that the last day you could choose when to wipe your ass before you had to wait for orders to do it?”
Drake’s jaw tightens, eyes flashing. Law tilts his beer in Drake’s direction, a mockery of a toast. “Always a pleasure, Drake-ya,” he says, the sarcasm thick on his tongue. He heads towards the hallway, hears Drake moving behind him.
“Always such an asshole,” he hears Drake mutter. It’s not even insulting in the grand scheme of things, but never one to let someone have the last word, Law pauses in the doorway, throwing Drake a disappointed look.
“Such a shame you still can't come up with better insults.”
“Don’t need to debase myself.”
“You might be more fun if you did.”
“Oi, Drake!” They both look up to see Scratchman Apoo waving a deck of cards from the other room. “Deal you in?”
Drake nods, then turns back to Law. “Well Trafalgar, I can’t say it’s been a - “ His words are cut off when a hand clamps down on his and Law’s shoulders and suddenly Penguin is there, way too close for comfort. Whatever chaos Luffy managed to cause no longer appears to be an issue, because Penguin is sporting a devilish grin on his face.
“What?” Law snaps. Penguin just points up. When Law sees where’s he pointing at, he blanches. “No.”
Drake narrows his eyes and quickly looks up, only to see the mistletoe nestled in between a tangled weave of Christmas lights. His mouth drops open. “You must be joking.”
Penguin clucks his tongue. “It’s the rules! Kiss or you take a Blackbeard shot.”
Law can practically taste the bile in the back of his throat. “Fuck no.”
Drake, who for all his bragging about an iron liver, looks disgusted himself. “That awful monstrosity from graduation night? No way.”
“Were you not listening to my explanation of the rules earlier?!” Penguin’s lecture to Drake fades into the background, Law tuning him out as he quickly looks around them. They’ve already captured the attention of several partygoers, their eyes eagerly burrowing under Law’s skin and Penguin’s hand is still gripping his shoulder, not letting Law budge an inch.
And Law hates it, hates it because the options left to him are either:
- bite the bullet and kiss Drake to get the whole thing over with or
- refuse the kiss and the drink and deal with Penguin’s insufferable hounding all night and probably for the next year too.
God, such shit choices.
“You actually want me to kiss Trafalgar?” Drake’s voice drags Law away from his thoughts. His face is red, clearly embarrassed and Law would love nothing more than to tease him for it if he too weren’t stuck in this dumpster fire of a situation.
Penguin, the bastard, looks way too pleased with himself. “I’d be glad to make you both the shot.”
And it could be the alcohol already burning through Law’s system, or wanting to stick it to Drake, or utter contempt at that vile shot that makes Law finally take the matter into his own hands. “Absolutely fucking not,” Law hisses. Shoving his beer at Penguin, he balls a fist in Drake’s jacket and pulls him down to his level.
It’s a ruthless press of lips, the angle completely awkward, and incredibly sloppy. Law throws himself into it anyway, determined not to give Penguin a single reason to cry foul. There’s a choked noise and Law’s not sure whether it’s from him or Drake.
But what’s more horrifying is the whoops from the people in the immediate vicinity, applause ringing out as they watch the spectacle like it’s entertainment. It makes Law’s gut churn and oh, he is so going to enjoy killing Penguin later for this.
The unfortunate kiss as well as the plotting of Penguin’s demise are suddenly interrupted when an arm wraps around Law and tugs. Caught off guard, Law stumbles back into a warm, solid body. The grip around his waist steadies him but it’s strong, leaving very little room for Law to slip out of it. Law looks behind him, ready to snap at the person for getting handsy but stops when he sees Luffy with an unreadable expression on his face.
In the months that they’ve been dating, Law has never seen that look before.
Never been the one to keep his mouth shut in the best of times, Penguin hastily points upwards. “Mistletoe! They were just following the rules, Straw Hat, promise.”
“I know,” Luffy says, in a tone that absolutely should not be sending a shiver down Law’s spine at this most inopportune time. Luffy’s brown eyes are honed in on Drake, his fingers digging harder into Law’s waist, making Law inhale sharply.
Drake looks as bewildered as Law feels, cheeks red and mouth still parted like an idiot. His eyes dart between Luffy and Law before he straightens up and coughs slightly, shooting a look at Law.
“Would’ve preferred the shot,” Drake says. For a moment, the weird moment is forgotten as Law scowls, flipping Drake off as he retreats to the other room.
Penguin, the fucker, seems to also think it’s a good time to beat a hasty retreat because he slinks off with a sympathetic pat to Law’s shoulder, leaving him alone with Luffy.
What is a surprise though is that the grip around his waist doesn’t let up. And Luffy is still staring in the direction Drake disappeared to, still as a statue. Law sighs, mentally preparing himself for a round of petulant back-and-forth. “Luffy-ya - “
Finally, Luffy looks up at him then and what Law sees robs the words straight from his mouth. Even underneath bright shades of red, green, and yellow Christmas lights, Luffy’s eyes are dark, a sharpness to them that hooks into Law, makes it impossible for him to look away.
Confronted with a Luffy he is so unfamiliar with, Law flounders. “It was just that stupid game - “
“I know,” Luffy repeats. He looks away to glance around them and it’s then Law realizes they still have a crowd, doing their best to pretend as if they aren’t eavesdropping like nosey bastards. It’s enough to get Luffy moving. Almost reluctantly, he retracts his arm from Law’s waist and he takes a step back. “I’m gonna get something to drink.”
Feeling oddly bereft from the sudden loss of warmth, it takes Law a moment to catch up to what Luffy is saying. Shit, Luffy never tries to avoid a topic. “Oi - “ Law begins but Luffy darts away before Law can even grab a hold of him, disappearing around the corner.
Shit, shit. Law scrubs a free hand over his face. He debates chasing after him but gives up only when he sees the “furtive” glances people cast his way. Luffy is his ride home anyway - they’ll have plenty of time to talk it out then, free from curious eyes and ears.
Resigned to his fate, Law trudges back to the deck, where Ikkaku and Shachi are now in the middle of a heated debate over who’s hotter, famed supermodel Boa Hancock or fencing champion Dracule Mihawk. Mood effectively soured, Law sidles up next to Bepo, leaning into his side. Bepo, like a good best friend, just adjusts his stance to accommodate for Law’s tall frame.
There’s a moment of silence as they watch Ikkaku and Shachi go back and forth. Bepo glances down then back up at him. “Did you get us beers?”
Law looks down, only now noticing that he’s empty-handed.
Fuck.
As expected, the car ride home is terribly awkward. Used to Luffy’s inane chatter about whatever topic comes to mind, he’s quiet instead, hindering any of Law’s attempts to engage him in conversation with clipped replies (“Are you angry?” “No.” “Do you want to talk about it?” “Talk about what?”).
By some stroke of luck, Luffy only lives ten minutes from Penguin’s place and Law supposes it’s a good sign Luffy took him to his apartment rather than just dumping him at Law’s place. But Luffy also lives with his brothers and Law is certain this is a conversation he doesn’t want to have when they’re around to pry.
“Are your brothers up around this time?” Law asks as they walk up the stairs to Luffy’s place.
Luffy digs through his pockets for his keys to open the door. “They’re out of town this weekend.”
Oh good, at least this will be private. Law follows him inside, making sure to close the door behind him. “Does that mean - “
Law’s breath is knocked out of him as his back hits door, Luffy pressed along his front. Fingers curl into the nape of his neck, bringing him down right as Luffy surges up to kiss him. There is nothing coy or sweet about it; it’s lips clashing against his, and with Luffy’s firm grip on the back of his neck, Law has little choice but to take whatever Luffy gives him. When Luffy pulls away, it is only for a split second, enough for Law to murmur Luffy’s name in the form of a question before Luffy drags him back in.
This time, the kiss is devouring. The little air Law just managed to grab evaporates in between their mouths. He clutches onto the soft fabric of Luffy’s hoodie to anchor himself to something, to avoid getting swept up in the storm. But Law doubts he can hold it off for much longer with the way Luffy’s lips and tongue are chasing away most of his rational thought, the remaining threads of it just hanging on.
Law breaks the kiss, in need of air and respite though Luffy’s grip on his neck ensures Law doesn’t go far. Their foreheads come together, chests brushing against one another as they pant. Law’s tongue runs across his lips, already sensing that they’ll be tender before the night is through. Luffy’s eyes follow the movement, rapt, and Law’s breath stutters in his throat.
“And here I thought you weren’t angry,” Law says, trying to find his footing metaphorically. It’s not like Luffy’s never an enthusiastic kisser - Law’s had plenty of split lips to attest to that - but there is something there he isn’t used to, simmering just underneath the surface that he can’t put his finger on.
Luffy frowns. “I told you I’m not,” he says.
Yeah, right. Law arches an eyebrow. “Then what do you call all this?”
“Aren’t you the smart one?” Luffy moves towards Law’s ear, his lips brushing against his earrings. “You figure it out.” Without warning, he bites down on Law’s neck. Law hisses, body lurching into Luffy’s.
Shit, if only it were that easy. But having Luffy against him, a line of heat and solid strength felt keenly between layers of clothing, mouth now sucking at the sensitive skin, Law is struggling to piece anything together. He can only think of how much he wants more.
Not for the first time, Law curses the man in front of him. “At least let me take my coat off.”
Luffy hums, vibrations gentle against Law’s skin. “Not yet.”
“What do you mean ‘not yet’?” Law snarls. When Luffy doesn’t respond, Law tries to shrug out of his coat anyways, a feat of near impossibility with his back firmly pinned between the door and Luffy. Luffy’s hands sink lower, finding purchase on either side of Law’s hips. He pulls Law down, right as his leg slides between Law’s and presses up.
The world turns electric, a shocking jolt followed by warmth rippling in its wake through Law’s body. The pressure against his groin is both exquisite and maddening, drawing out a half-bitten groan from Law’s lips. “Fuck,” he mutters with feeling, coat completely forgotten as his hips rock down. He feels Luffy’s mouth curl upwards and oh, Law hates giving this brat any kind of satisfaction of knowing just how much he gets under his skin, how crazy he can drive him.
And even as he’s riding Luffy’s thigh, even as he’s growing hard and completely at Luffy’s mercy, Law refuses to be the only one affected like this. So he wraps one hand around the back of Luffy’s neck; the other slips underneath Luffy’s hoodie to rake his fingernails along Luffy’s warm skin. His reward is a gasp and a squeeze to his hips. Law grins.
He’s not sure where the thought comes from, only that he’s in dire need to keep teasing Luffy before he completely loses his wits. The words slip out carelessly. “It’s going to take a lot more than this to forget a kiss from Drake-ya.”
From his current angle, Law can’t see the expression on Luffy’s face. But he certainly feels the way Luffy’s hands tighten suddenly, stalling Law’s hips, and the sharp inhale against his chest is as audible as a scream.
It all clicks, as the very last shred of rationality finally seems to overcome the heady desire that’s fogged his mind. The idea of it almost so ridiculous that amusement laces his tone when he asks, “Wait, were you jealous?”
Finally, Luffy looks up at him and there’s that expression again, the one on his face after Drake and Penguin disappeared. His face is more flushed but his eyes still pierce through Law as they did earlier. “So what if I was?” he challenges, voice pitched low.
Law would be a liar if that he said that tone didn’t send a warm thrill of arousal through him, but he’s struck more by the thought of Luffy being jealous of Drake, of all people. It’s so absurd that he can’t help but laugh.
Evidently, it’s the wrong reaction because Luffy’s eyes flash darker and he pulls Law into a punishing kiss. Law’s amusement dies a quick death at the tip of Luffy’s tongue, ravishing Law’s mouth until Law is left dizzy and breathless.
After moments that feel like centuries, Luffy reaches down to unbutton Law’s jeans and tug the zipper down. The relief from the tight clothing is second only to the touch of Luffy’s calloused fingers on his cock. A moan slips out, quiet when Luffy squeezes him gently.
“Luffy-ya,” Law whispers against Luffy’s lips. It could be a warning, a plea, or both - he can’t tell. Luffy just looks at him, breath coming out in short bursts and expression almost as needy as Law’s worried his own face looks, but determined. Then Luffy sinks to his knees, grasps the base of Law’s cock, and wraps his lips around him.
The immediate sensation of wet heat makes Law gasp, head thudding against the door. Luffy doesn’t ease him into it, nor is there any gentle teasing. It’s a whirlwind of lips and tongue running up and down his cock, rubbing along the right places to make his heart race.
All the while, Luffy’s eyes never leave Law’s face, watching Law pant and squirm with burning intensity. A part of Law wants to hide, to cover Luffy’s eyes or his own damn face because it’s too damn embarrassing to be seen like this, a needy, whimpering mess. But that part of him loses to the pleasure building and building, a crescendo speeding towards a quick fall that Law somehow both dreads and needs. He pushes at Luffy’s shoulder while his fingers ground themselves in his hoodie, and he hisses a warning even as it ends in a moan, hips thrusting into Luffy’s mouth.
And right as he’s about to give in, to let himself fall off the edge, the warmth around his cock disappears as Luffy pulls back. The loss is startling, making Law glare down at Luffy who’s wiping spit from around his mouth with the back of his hand.
“I could tell you were close,” he says casually, like he wasn’t just busy driving Law mad.
“No shit,” Law growls, hauling Luffy up to his feet into a kiss. The taste of himself on Luffy’s tongue shouldn’t be pleasant, but fuck if it doesn’t wind him even as he’s trying to return the favor in spades. He wants Luffy to feel what Law feels, wants him to be so riled up his mind loses the ability to think as his body aches with desire and frustration.
For a moment, Luffy plays along, lets himself be thoroughly kissed until he’s out of breath too. But then he yanks his head back and breathes along Law’s cheek. “You’re irritated at me.”
“Wonder why.” Law captures Luffy’s mouth for another kiss but Luffy ends that one quickly as well, this time pulling back completely. He’s a sight to behold - face flushed, lips shiny, and chest heaving. He’s hard too, the bulge in his shorts enough to catch Law’s eye.
His gaze lingers too long because when he forces himself to look back at Luffy’s face, there’s a knowing glimmer in Luffy’s gaze now.
“And so turned on right now.”
To that, Law steps forward. Luffy takes one step back, then another.
“You won’t admit it though,” Luffy continues, moving deeper into the apartment. “You never do.”
Considering that up until a minute ago he had Law’s hard cock in his mouth, it’s not exactly some big-brained secret. Law follows after Luffy and ignores the way his heart skips a beat when he recognizes they’re heading towards Luffy’s bedroom. “What point are you trying to make?” he asks, laying the irritation on a little too thick in hopes to hide the anticipation pumping through his body.
“My point - “ Luffy grabs the front of Law’s shirt. “- is that I’m gonna make you.” Law’s breath stutters in his chest and that’s all he can do before Luffy pulls him close and hauls him into his room.
It isn’t long before Luffy finally relieves Law of his coat along with the rest of his clothes, now strewn along the bedroom floor. And yet, Law finds himself almost in the same position as before - pinned to the mattress, completely vulnerable to the man straddled above him. He bites back a moan as Luffy’s tongue swirls around a nipple, a thumb rubbing over the other. A curse slips out when teeth sink into his chest, a wisp of pain that quickly melts into pleasure.
Tattooed hands grip onto Luffy, nails leaving half-moon imprints in his biceps but other than a fluttery sigh against Law’s heated skin, Luffy nuzzles his way down without pause. Earlier hurried pace gone, Luffy seems intent on taking his sweet time, languidly tracing a path down his torso with lips, tongue, and teeth. Each kiss elicits a sharp inhale, each lick makes Law writhe, each bite threatens to bring moans spilling from his mouth.
But Luffy’s declaration just outside his room still rings in Law’s ears and while some days it’s easy to surrender to whatever whims Luffy may have, tonight he doesn’t want to lose this challenge. His pride is a stubborn thing and, as of right now, his only line of defense against an emboldened Luffy on a mission.
(Law wishes he was confident enough to believe his pride would be enough, but god right now everything aches down to his very soul with pure want and madness would surely follow if he doesn’t satisfy it -)
Luffy moves away, granting Law a moment of reprieve. The sound of a cap popping open cuts through the quiet and heat blooms in Law’s lower abdomen. He tries to convince himself to ignore it, even as a slick finger runs along his entrance and slips inside. Law tenses, but Luffy lays a hand on his stomach, thumb rubbing soothing circles that leave tingles in their wake, encouraging Law to relax.
“I still don’t - get it,” he mutters in an effort to focus himself, even as Luffy adds a second finger.
“Get what?” His words are punctuated with a shallow thrust of fingers, and Law’s own tangle into the sheets.
“All of this,” Law replies through gritted teeth. The shallow thrusts have turned probing, going deeper. Law doesn’t realize he’s pushing down into them until the hand on his stomach presses him down, holding him in place. “You’re not - ah - usually like this.”
Luffy doesn’t answer him, staying quiet as a third finger joins the others. Law throws his head back, trying to move even with Luffy’s hand a firm, heated pressure near his groin. He tries to find his voice to prod Luffy further into the conversation, but then fingers brush against that sensitive spot inside him and this time, there is no stopping the loud moan from leaving his lips.
He glimpses the look of satisfaction and hunger on Luffy’s face before Luffy kisses him, sloppy and wet. Combined with the devilish pace Luffy picks up with his fingers, Law feels as if he’s drowning. For the second time that night, pleasure is building back up and aching for release and yet all Law can think is what a waste it would be to come only like this. He can’t find the words to express that, either because his brain is fogged by pleasure or his dignity refuses to resort to begging for more.
But his body seems to be saying it enough, muffled whimpers lost in Luffy’s mouth and nails scratching down his back as he clenches around Luffy’s fingers. Finally, Luffy lets Law breathe, face smug even though he looks just as wrecked as Law feels.
“Admit it," he challenges, curling his fingers and Law keens.
“Fuck you,” Law pants, because he’ll never not be an asshole. He’s punished by Luffy withdrawing his fingers. He has only a second to mourn the loss before he’s rolled over onto his front. Face suddenly half-buried into the pillow, he’s overwhelmed by Luffy’s scent, smelling of sea salt and musk. Dizzy, he doesn’t realize his hips are moving against the mattress, seeking friction until Luffy pulls Law up to his hands and knees.
For a moment, nothing happens except the noises of something slick and Law’s harsh breathing. Then Luffy enters him, a torturously-slow slide that has Law crying out, fingers twisting into the sheets.
Finally seated inside, Luffy drapes himself across Law’s back. His lips dance along Law’s spine, giving him time to adjust. Law hates it, would love nothing more than for Luffy to plunge carelessly ahead as he always does in life just to end this drawn-out torture. He clenches around Luffy’s cock, a pleased thrill running through him when Luffy stammers out a moan in response.
The victory is short-lived when Luffy begins moving, the first thrust a sweet ache that has Law’s mouth falling open. It’s still too slow though, designed to do nothing more than tease. Law moves back into Luffy’s thrusts, trying to goad Luffy for more but Luffy remains unswayed.
“You feel so good,” Luffy sighs against Law’s shoulder. “So, so good Law.”
His real name spoken in Luffy’s low, rough tone is a blow to whatever feeble stubbornness Law has built. It’s crumbling under the weight of desperate arousal and unadulterated need. And it’s the exact moment Law knows he’s soon going to break.
“Fuck, fuck, fuck,” he chants, actively fighting a hopeless battle. He reaches for his leaking cock in an effort to bring himself relief, but Luffy snatches it away and Law nearly screams.
“Admit it,” Luffy demands. The next thrust is a little more pointed, delicious but still not enough. “Tell me this feels good for you too.”
Law has serious doubts he could even if he wanted to. He’s spiraling, his world funneled down to nothing but Luffy’s cock moving so damn slow inside him.
“Law.” A bite to Law’s shoulder. “Just say it.” Another too-gentle brush against his prostate. “Say I make you feel good too.”
Oh. “Luffy - “ he gasps out, and is rewarded with an answering moan and a deeper thrust. Luffy growls his name, and oh, he’s absolutely wrecked too, so close to breaking but he’s just waiting for Law and that’s what does Law in.
“Yes, god yes,” he chokes out.
“Say it.”
“Yes, you feel so good, I can’t - Luffy - “ The only warning he gets is a tight squeeze to his hip and a wicked smile pressed to his back. Then Luffy slams his hips against Law’s, burying himself inside the way Law’s been craving and he cries out in ecstasy. This time, Luffy doesn’t stop or take his time. He sets a brutal pace, an onslaught that ignites wave after wave of pleasure through Law. It radiates from his groin through his entire being. His heart soars and his body weaken. Law sinks his head into the pillow, no longer able to hold himself up on his arms as he just takes it all.
And even then, Luffy doesn’t let up, just continues to pound into Law, a babble of words streaming out in between moans and gasps. Somehow, he still has a mind to reach down and wrap a hand around Law’s cock. Law is nothing more than a mess, completely surrounded by Luffy above him, below him, inside him. A few strokes is all Law needs to come, his world dissolving into white with Luffy’s name punched out of him like a dying breath.
When his senses return, he’s lying boneless on the bed. Luffy is still hard inside but he isn’t moving, instead pressing wet kisses along the lines of ink across Law’s shoulder blades. But it’s clear he’s holding himself back, his body quivering against Law’s. Law shifts gingerly, every inch of him raw but it’s enough to catch Luffy’s attention.
“Law, Law,” Luffy murmurs, voice edging on a whine. “I need to - “ And Law nods, because he needs it too, needs to feel Luffy fall apart inside him. Luffy rolls his hips and Law’s breath hitches. Still sensitive, there’s a sharper edge to the pleasure seeping through him now, enough to draw out a whimper with every thrust. Luffy is moving quicker now, rhythm faltering as he chases his own release. Law clenches around him, stutters out Luffy’s name and that’s all it takes. Luffy sinks into him one final time, spilling inside Law with a loud cry. He collapses half on top of Law.
They lie like that for who knows how long, coming down from the satisfying highs they both sought so desperately. Finally, the press of sweaty skin and come gets to be too much, so Law rolls onto his back, dislodging Luffy who mumbles a protest but flops over anyways. His hand still reaches out to grab Law’s. And Law looks over at him, sees Luffy staring at him. Naked skin flushed, chest rising and falling, and lips parted, he’s beautiful, a sight that steals Law’s breath away every time.
They should get cleaned up and shower - god knows Law needs one - but something keeps him here, pinned under Luffy’s gaze. He licks his swollen lips and suddenly a half-laugh escapes his mouth. “That’s one way to forget a kiss.”
Luffy’s fingers clamp down on Law’s. Curious, Law takes in Luffy’s expression - at first glance, nothing’s changed but then Law sees the tension in his brow, the slight frown. Law rolls his eyes. “Seriously, I’m almost offended you’d think I want to kiss Drake-ya.” Not just because Luffy would think him capable of cheating, but because he thinks he’d do it with Drake.
“It’s not that,” Luffy protests.
“Enlighten me then.”
Luffy sighs as if Law’s an idiot, looking up at the ceiling. “You hate kissing in front of people. Or doing any other PDA.”
Law arches an eyebrow. “Yeah?” Physical affection has never been one of Law’s strong suits, too long a stranger to him. He hasn’t had to worry about it until he started dating Luffy, who can’t seem to breathe without some form of physical touch whether it be friends, brothers, or Law and whether it was private or in front of a crowd. It’s still a work in progress, them trying to find the right balance. Though if Law really thinks on it, he supposes that balance has skewed towards no affection when they’ve been together in public.
Luffy glances back at him, a displeased twist to his lips. “So you didn’t hesitate to kiss chin-scar guy in front of others.”
The funny nickname for Drake almost distracts Law from the rest of the sentence. “I hesitated!”
Luffy snorts. “You grabbed him and kissed him.”
Law opens his mouth to vehemently protest, only to have the memory play back in his head and realize that Luffy was right. He closes his mouth.
Luffy huffs, looking back to the ceiling. “I know you like me. You wouldn’t be with me if you didn’t. But it bothered me that you’d kiss him in front of others when you won’t with me.” He shrugs awkwardly. “So I wanted something he couldn’t have.”
Law smirks. “Sex?”
Dark eyes bore into his. “To be the only one that makes you feel that good.”
Law’s mouth dries, warmth blooming throughout his entire body despite the aches and exhaustion. “Fuck, Luffy,” he grumbles. It appears to be the right thing to say because the seriousness of Luffy’s face morphs into pure delight. Luffy leans over for a searing kiss, one that threatens to drag Law back under a wave of lust.
But the desire for a shower still needles at him and he reluctantly pulls away. “I need a shower.”
Luffy looks like he wants to protest but then he brightens. “I’ll join you.”
Which means it’ll take twice as long to get washed up, but Law finds that he really doesn’t mind. “If you must,” he says with a long-suffering sigh, but judging by the wide grin on Luffy’s face, Law knows Luffy understands what he’s trying to say.
He always does.
A week later, there’s a feeling of deja vu as he and Luffy park outside Vivi’s sprawling house in the countryside.
“There are way too many Christmas parties,” Law grumbles, grabbing a pack of the same Christmas ale he brought to Penguin’s.
Luffy shrugs. “Vivi’s is a tradition. We can’t miss it.” He’s in shorts again but has a sweater with blinking Christmas lights on nearly every inch of fabric - in honor of the party’s ugly Christmas sweater theme. Sadly, Law got roped into wearing one too - white, poofy fuzz balls that form the shape of a giant polar bear across his chest.
Vivi greets them at the door warmly, taking the ale from Law and leading them towards the back of the house. The rest of Luffy’s friends are more enthusiastic in their greetings, Usopp and Chopper yanking Luffy into a bear hug as Franky cheers, and Sanji and Nami scold them for nearly spilling Usopp’s very expensive glass of wine on Vivi’s very expensive carpet.
It’s warm and cozy, something unique only to this merry band of people and Law is loathe to admit that he has a soft spot for them. Watching the inevitable chaos unfold from the sidelines, he stops next to Jinbei, Zoro, and Robin, who smiles at him and holds up her own wine glass. “Welcome, Torao-kun. Care for something to drink?”
“I’ll get it, if you tell me where to go.” She points toward the opposite side of the room where there’s a full bar built into the wall. Impressed, Law walks towards it, taking in the exquisitely carved wood and rows of what look to be very decent wine and liquor he is definitely going to try.
Then his eyes catch the small chandelier hanging just in front of the bar and he pauses underneath it. After a minute of serious internal debate, he steels himself and turns on his heel, crossing his arms over his chest. “Oi, Luffy-ya.”
Luffy looks up, Usopp and Chopper crowded closely to look at something on his phone.
Law jerks his head. “Come get something to drink.”
Luffy wrinkles his nose, displeased at being bossed around, but he comes over anyways, eyes peering at the bottles on top of the bar. “I want to eat something first.” He pauses when he sees the expression on Law’s face. “What, Torao?”
Law points up and Luffy’s eyes move up to the chandelier, where there’s a sprig of mistletoe. His lips form an ‘o’ and that’s Law’s cue to lean in and kiss him.
It’s short and nothing special, but there are still cheers: Brook’s soft hoot of delight, Franky’s hollering, and whistles from Usopp and Nami. Heat rises on Law’s cheeks (and he knew, he knew this would be utterly mortifying) and he pulls back, but his heart lurches when he sees Luffy’s beaming face and suddenly the others in the room are forgotten.
Until Luffy ruins it with a too-pleased, “Your face is all red.” Law scowls, shoving Luffy away.
“Go get your food,” he barks. Laughing, Luffy bounds off as he’s hailed elsewhere and Law turns to the bar before anyone can see his own smile threatening to peak through.
