Chapter Text
The sounds of heavy boxes being placed on the floor with a loud thump into your new home. You just got done packing, after rearranging furniture and lifting all those boxes.
You finally found a new place to call home. Not like the city life; which, you missed deeply. But there’s no point in dwelling on the past and focusing on the future ahead of you, with the new house. You decide it was a big step that you’ve accomplished.
And what better way to put it than living in a nice peaceful suburban area. It’s a nice neighborhood, you’ll admit. And the neighbors were really nice to greet you.
As you put away all the stuff from the empty boxes. It’s not like you have any other plans, since you moved and all. You might as well focus on that and get it done before calling a day.
After an hour of unpacking, your stomach begins to growl. You haven’t eaten anything this morning since you moved… You haven’t brought any food with you.
Damn it, next time you’ll go grocery shopping.
You grabbed your coat and bag as you left the house before closing the door. Lock it, then get into your car as you drive around the neighborhood.
—
Bob was about to close up shop, after a night of serving customers and serving some of his burgers to the customers. He had a really long day, not to mention during his nights he had when he’s out to get some fresh “meat”
Bob had to wipe the drool off his mouth as he continued to clean up everything to get ready for tomorrow. Just when the doorbell rings.
“Sorry, we’re close-” He had to stop what he was doing when he saw you. You were standing by the front door sheepishly as you asked. “Sorry, I saw the sign. I wasn’t sure if you were open this late.”
He’d never seen you, in fact, you must be new around here from what Bob was guessing. “Nah, come right in.” He said, in a gruff low voice.
You beamed as you walked right up to the counter. Sitting down on a stool as you look over at the man towered over you. He was big, all right. Probably about six or seven feet tall if you would have guessed, he had short black hair and a stubbly chin to match it.
He also had blue eyes which catch you off guard. You didn’t think a man with blue eyes would be this pretty, but you quickly turned your head away before he would notice the blush on you.
“What would you like?”
You turned to face him, stuttering before you answered.
“U-Uhm, a burger. Please?”
He stared for a moment, then nodded. Going back into the kitchen to prepare a meal for you, you fiddle your thumbs as you wait patiently.
Decided to have a look around, it wasn’t that big. Just your average day of a diner, “Boys & Grills”. it was just a couple blocks from here. Just right where you lived, you could probably walk down there if you ever want to visit.
A plate was handed over to you as you smelled the food. You haven’t had anything to eat in a while, and the whiff of fresh meat wasn’t helping you either.
“‘S on the house.”
The man said, you let out a small ‘thank you’ and grabbed the burger off the plate. Bringing up to your face, opening your mouth as you bite down on the succulent taste.
You let out a happy sigh.
Gobbling down on the burger as you feel the juices of meat on your tongue. You never had a burger this good, whatever this guy cooked. It surely was scrumptious.
Speaking of which, the guy had been staring at you for a while now. He hasn’t said a word to you, looking a little flustered. You didn’t know what to say… As you swallowed down the last bit of food.
He was standing there.
Menacingly.
You don’t know what to say to him at first until he decides to break the silence.
“Did you know…”
He said, in a low voice as he leaned in close to your face that made you blush for some reason. You could feel his breath against your skin as he began to speak once more.
“That the first meal on the moon was bacon? Technically freeze-dried-bacon cubes to eat on the moon.”
You look at him at wonder, then, you let out a laugh. Which caught the man off guard as you kept on laughing. Tears were covering your vision as you wiped them with your fingers and tried to calm yourself down. You don’t think this was the strangest thing that anyone has asked you something like this, in fact. It’s a nice change of pace, suddenly, he started laughing too. For whatever reasons, both of you weren’t helping one another. If someone were to come in they probably think the two of you were some kinda weirdos.
After almost an hour of laughing, taking a few breaths, you finally started to relax. “No, but I probably needed that. Thank you.”
Oh, not what he expected. But you seem interested and that kept the man going from telling you facts about meat and different types of history behind it.
He tells you everything, some caught your attention, others were a little hard to understand. But you enjoy listening to the man talk and could sit there for hours and hours learning about random facts that he seems to know.
Then he moved on to facts about the human body; which you think is a little strange at first. But nothing that didn’t catch your attention, the fact that the human body contains trillions of bacteria, or that it has one hundred and thousands of blood vessels in the body as we speak. He kept going on and on as he almost caught himself from drooling.
You also share some facts of your own that catch him by surprise. Some were just useless facts that you know, most of it was history. Which, you were a big fan of history when you were in your high school years back, you didn’t think it was interesting to him but that seems to prove you wrong.
He seems quite interested in learning about things he never heard of and his eyes seem to brighten as his smile grows wide. You didn’t realize how handsome he looked as you tried to cover your own blush before he noticed.
The two of you talk for hours upon hours of facts you know or don’t know; chatting nonstop like a couple of nerds.
Suddenly, you didn’t realize that you hadn't checked the time.
“How–long have we been talking.”
You said, and he pointed his finger at the clock beside him.
“Usually, I close about noon. But since you an’ I have been chatting non stop… I say three-ish?”
Shit, you have an interview for a new job. You’re supposed to get up early, instead you’ve been talking to the guy that’s about ready to close. You grabbed your bag, searching through your pockets to hand him a few dollar tip.
“You don’t have to do that,”
He said, you shook your head.
“I insist… Plus, I enjoy the conversations we had.”
You smiled up at him.
Which definitely caught the man by surprise, yes. He’d never met anyone like you; no one would care about what he had to say and some would be left confused. But you… you were an odd case, listening to him for hours talking about meat and human body facts.
Which was… rather intriguing.
As you are about to get ready to leave, you stop for a second.
“Oh, I didn’t get your name!”
He chuckles and points at his name tag.
Bob Velseb… What an interesting name.
“Well, it’s nice to meet you Bob. I hope we get to talk again.”
You say. About to leave before Bob called out to you
“Aren't Chu forgetting something?”
You turned around, looking rather oblivious before realizing that you didn’t give him your name.
“It’s Y/N.”
“ Y/N… ” He said, rolling off the tongue.
Something the way he said your name out loud has caused your face to get red. Before he could point out, you quickly turned around to the door and gave a quick ‘goodbye’ as you got to the door and left the diner.
–
As he watched you left the diner.
He stood there silently as he went back to the kitchen and to the freezer.
Inside, was a man wrapped around in tied rope and a piece of cloth covering his mouth. He groaned as the blunt trauma to the head had caused him to be unconscious.
Blood oozing out.
Bob was already drooling as he grabs the cleaver like he’s about ready to butcher a cow.
Meat is meat after all.
Time to get to work.
