Work Header

how dare you love me like you've never known fear

Summary:

Gem knows she should be more worried than she is.

She, a vigilante, has just seen the face of notorious villain Amnesia and is currently getting threatened.

But it’s a little hard to focus when all she can think about is how absolutely gorgeous she is.

Notes:

Title is from Home To Me by Devil and the Deep Blue Sea

False's villain name is Amnesia and her power is to make people forget things, anywhere from one interaction to their entire life, but she has to be touching them

Gem's vigilante name is Honey and she can poison people, though she doesn't do it much

Just a short little gay thing

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

For the record, Gem would like to point out that it was a complete accident. Alleyways to get changed into civilian clothes were a hot commodity, but how was she supposed to know someone else would already be in there!

She’d barely been involved in the fight, just getting civilians to safety while the heroes took care of the villain. That was her job! Combat was never her specialty and this suited her just fine.

That was what she would say when explaining why she completely froze when she realised she wasn’t alone anyway.

Amnesia was standing in her full villain outfit, mask in hand as she pulled on a green jacket. Her goggles rested on top of her head, revealing piercing blue eyes.

Blue eyes that were narrowed and focused solely on Gem.

At this point, someone with common sense would have run.

No one Gem knew would describe her as having common sense.

In an instant Amnesia had shot forward, pinning her against the wall with a sword at her throat. Her hair fell messily around her face, strands glowing golden in the small lines of sunlight.

“Give me one good reason why I shouldn’t kill you right now,” she hissed, and oh no Gem’s face was heating up entirely against her will.

There were a number of smart things she could have said in that moment. Namely, please don’t kill me. Unfortunately all that came out was a small squeak.

“Hi you’re very close.”

She raised an eyebrow, her amused smirk sending butterflies through Gem’s stomach. She leaned closer, breath tingling on her neck and making her shiver. “Is this close enough for you, Honey?”

She nodded quickly, and her filter must have come loose as she did. “You’re pretty...”

Surprise flickered across her face for a moment before it disappeared. Her hand reached up to cup Gem’s face, running a thumb along the edge of her mask. “I’m glad you think so. It’s only fair that I get to see you under there, isn’t it?”

Amnesia was holding her face. Even despite her threatened identity reveal this should have been cause for concern, given all her powers needed was contact, but Gem hadn’t interacted with anyone aside from her dog in a very long time so who could blame her if she melted just a little bit?

...Alright, maybe more than a little bit. She completely turned to putty in her hands, resisting no more than a slight tilt away as the fabric was tugged down to her chin. Amnesia traced her freckles with a finger, humming appreciatively.

“Well, I can’t say I’m disappointed. I’ve seen you before, lurking at the edge of battles. Always waiting for you to come out and give me a better look. This isn’t quite what I had in mind, but beggars can’t be choosers.”

She let go of her face almost reluctantly, pulling her weapon away. “Fly back to your nest, my bee. I’ll be keeping an eye on you.”

“Wait,” Gem mumbled, grabbing her arm. “Could you- I mean if you wanted to...”

She blushed, stumbling over her words, but Amnesia seemed to understand all the same. With gentleness Gem wouldn’t have expected from a villain her head was tilted up, a soft kiss being pressed against her lips.

And then, as soon as it came, she was left alone in the alley.

It took Gem several minutes to reboot her brain enough to move.

Notes:

Gem's dog is Apollo, a tiny little pomeranian. She still calls him a bear though

If you want more let me know ig? I don't have too many ideas at the moment but I'm open to suggestions
