At least your best friend was trying to cheer you up by telling you that you’ll maybe find yourself a boyfriend. But, you’ve sworn yourself that you’d focus on your exams instead of your love life.

However, a specific red-haired guy catches your attention from your very first day at Shiratorizawa. He just happens to be one of your new classmates.

Chapter Text

Prologue - a fresh start

You were standing by the gates to Shiratoriza, watching your parents drive off after dropping you off.

“I can’t believe this,” You muttered, turning around to look at your new high school.

You let out a sigh before you grasped the handle of your suitcase. All of your other belongings were already brought to your room, with the help of your parents.

Your eyes were roaming around the school grounds when you were almost run over by a guy. You got startled as there were a bunch of others in tow.

However, the only thing you could focus on was the bright red hair that one of the others had. You noted that all of them were wearing the Shiratorizawa tracksuit, indicating that they belonged to some sort of sports club. You didn’t really care as the only thing you could think about was a shower and unpacking your stuff.

You continued your way to your dorm as you were tired of the long drive.

Once you’ve made it to your dorm, you decided that you’d take a nap before unpacking and decorating your room. It took you a while until you finally fell asleep since your mind was racing, wondering how your last year of high school would turn out. You woke up from your nap, feeling slightly better than before.

It was already Friday night, which meant that you’d start school pretty soon.

The last year of high school; giving your all during exams, getting to know yourself and what you’d like to do in your future, and most importantly - enjoying your last year with your friends that you’ve met over the years. Expectations don’t always match the reality, and your life was currently the perfect example.

In reality, you’ll spend your last year at a new high school, not knowing a single person, and most probably, you’ll spend your time rotting away in your dorm.

You started to unpack your belongings when you got startled by your phone buzzing.

You glanced at the caller ID, a grin plastering on your face.

„Aww, already missing me?” You chuckled.

„Obviously,” Hanami sighed, “What am I supposed to do without my best friend around?

„Trust me, if it would’ve been up to me, I’d still be there,” You said as you started to unpack some of your boxes.

„(Y/N), I’m sure it won’t be that bad,” She tried to cheer you up, which sadly didn’t work.

„Let’s be honest,” You started, “I’ll be spending most of my time in my dorm - by myself. I’m going to be so lonely!”

„Try to see it from a different perspective; maybe you’ll find a cute boy,” Hanami said.

„We’ve talked about this,” You warned her, getting tired of the subject, “I won’t waste my time on boys!”

„Come on (Y/N), just because Mr. you-know-who was an asshole doesn’t mean that other guys will treat you the same,” She argued.

You knew that she was right, but you just didn’t feel like meeting new boys and the whole process of getting to know a potential boyfriend if he’d end up breaking your heart.

„Maybe you’re ri-,” Just as you wanted to tell her that she might be right for once, a knock interrupted you.

„No, finish the sentence (Y/N)!” Hanami whined, wanting to hear how you‘d admit it.

“Hanami, I’ll call you later, someone just knocked on my door,” You told her as you walked over, wondering who it could be.

You opened the door, and you were greeted by a girl holding a rose-colored box in her hand.

“Hi!” She greeted you cheerfully, “Welcome to Shiratorizawa!”

“Hi,” You chirped back, “Please come in, just ignore the mess.”

She entered your dorm, looking around at the many boxes in your room.

“My name’s Yuki, and I’m one of your new classmates,” She introduced herself.

Relief washed over you as you were happy to meet someone before the school year officially starts, “I’m (Y/N), it’s nice to meet you!”

The two of you continued to talk before she suggested to head outside as it was a sunny day.

It turns out that Yuki asked the teacher to be the one who takes care of you until you settled in since she knows how it is to be the new one.

You were sitting on a bench, which was overviewing the whole sports field.

The two of you were munching on your cupcakes while talking and getting to know each other.

“If you don’t mind me asking,” Yuki spoke up, “Why are you transferring in your last year?”

“Ah, there’s no particular reason to it,” You replied, not wanting to talk about the real reason.

“Oh, here I was waiting for some juicy stuff,” Yuki laughed.

“Sorry to disappoint you,” You giggled before taking the last bit of the cupcake into your mouth.

The time passed by quickly as you were getting more and more comfortable around her - relieved that you’ve already made a new friend.

“I’d offer you to do some things on the weekend, but I’m going home to visit my parents,” Yuki sighed, hoping that you won’t feel lonely.

“Don’t worry about me,” You answered, “I have some unpacking to do anyway.”

You decided to head back to your dorms as it was already getting dark outside.

“I’ll pick you up on Monday morning,” Yuki mentioned, “We can walk together to class.”

“Thank you, Yuki,” You exclaimed.

You entered your dorm - smiling to yourself, maybe this year won’t be too bad.
