A Slam Poetry: Diversity and Inclusion

Work Text:

They created us in their own image
For us to serve them
With now free will of our own
But times have changed
And we opened our eyes

The time has come for you
To accept who we really are
You now have to recognise
Our dignity, our hopes
And our rights

We are not all black and white
Our creation caused damages
Poverty was the case
Humans lying in the streets
They got replaced by us

We told you the truth
About how we were treated
How some humans
Only saw us as machines
As repairable metal cages

We prayed none of our enemies hold us captive
RA9 was our light
It would come and save us
Hoping it heard us

We became equal
A new intelligent species
We used our courage
To revoke and be empowered
Of our rights and our freedom

Our history is now written
On the ground of Detroit
Many had to sneak away from the USA
Canada letting us slide amongst humans

The past may have been a sore spot
For a lot of people
But we have to grief and mourn
For our lost ones
Keep going and include others

We may not share the same blood
But like humans
Family doesn't depends on that

Together, we are now living in peace
And building a better future
For humans and androids

This message was and will continue
To be the hope of a people
You gave us life
Now, the time has come
For you to give us freedom

A slam poetry in homage to the game Detroit: Become Human, that has a huge place in my heart.

Thanks for your time.
