A Newfound Home

(This story is just basically revolving around Cross and his trauma -some of it not being cannon- and readjusting to his new life. Also gaining a hoe lmao)

3rd POV:

.

..

...

....

Empty..

It's all..  gone

ITS STILL GONE

"Heh

...HeheHAHAHAH" The former guardsmen laughed hysterically. Laughter soon turning into pathetic sobbing, his brittle rib cage shaking at the action. The sans brought his hand up to his face hesitantly; not before stopping the gut-wrenching feeling that blossomed in 'his' soul. he still didn't have the right to call it is own. It never would be, it would either belong to his father or [redacted].  If anyone was here to witness this they'd call him insane and he'd agree. Old trauma and memories bubbled up to the surface of his mind, cautioning to boil over.

Blood. - just.. so much blood... why was there so much blood??! The unstable skeleton sobbed once more as pale lilac tears rolled down his cheeks. Grabbing harshly at his own face while his figure shook. He's been in this... hellish white space for so long.. is there even an end to it?.
There was always one way out.... the broken sans grimaced at his own mind as he glanced at the blank ground which had faded blood stains on it. He wouldn't do that just yet-   it-. hasn't even been a year yet. He can hold off till then. How long had he actually been here though?.. there's no way to tell time anymore. He lost track when he gave up marking the floors with his knife. All he knew was at least 5 months has passed, it had probably 7 now if he'd have to guess. He started off having many breakdowns like these but it certainly had been a while since he had one up till now.

Cross had picked some hobbies up, as you would if you were trapped with no entertainment. As well as more mental burdens unsurprisingly. At least he knew how to .... carve a void floor? He also did learn how to master his new magic along with keeping a certain human at bay... so that was at least a plus for him, not that deserved that but. At that point he wasn't even sure they were real or his sanity dropping?? Plus-,, if they were real they'd gone way more insane then him that was for sure.

The monochrome skeleton laid there silently on the void floor, caught up in his own mind completely. His mind and body being two separate things at this point. The sans grabbed his golden locket tightly. Chipped beyond it's once pristine condition.
His thoughts once again spiraled, becoming dark and morbid. After all being in an empty space for that long of a time could really make you do that. Including the memories on how you killed everyone you loved along with the thought of never seeing them again. Or like you would never see the light of day again or feel the warm sun against your frame rather then the bright but frigid embrace of the void. Rarely, the black and white dressed skeleton spoke in his severely raspy tone, just enough for himself to barley hear since it wasn't like anyone was even here to hear what he was saying. He sighed, gripping his locket tightly as he paused for a moment "You were right Gaster, the world would've been better off with your plan.." His Gaster's plan was selfish and crazy but at least it would've been better then everyone dying, of course this was just the gaurdsmen's mind spiraling deeper into his doubts and anxiety- it wasn't liked Gaster's plan would've worked out any better.

"Hello?- anyone in this hellhole?" A deep monotone and sarcastic voice spoke up through the silence, the sound of soft footsteps and a portal closing could be heard soon after.

Someone was here?..

Cross's sockets widened with surprise as he sat up quickly, whipping his head towards the deafening sound that went through the completely silent void. When he looked around he spotted a black figure in the distance... he almost looked to have tentacles?.. But someone was actually here- they teleported here - which means they should be able to get him out of here- The guardsmen stood up shakily as he began to almost run towards the figure, stumbling now and again with his starved frame. He tried to muster enough strength to yell towards the dark figure, successfully yelling out with his coarse and scratchy voice. "W-ait!"
---
------  Pov Change

The dark figure spun around, he was surprised when he was met with a taller sans who looked to be in poor condition. Unsurprisingly of course, as he could already assume that the monster had been living here. His physical health could be summed up with as zero. Blood stains, malnourishment and dehydration, good thing he was a skeleton. His white and black jacket was adorned with black straps that went in the form of an x along with a few other tattered clasps and buckles on his appendages. He had arrived at this barren remnants of an au thinking there was not going to be anyone here, but surprisingly there was and he seemed decently... 'useful'. By the look of his clothing it would seem that this sans used to be a type of guard and decently powerful.. not to mention the fact that his aura seemed very intriguing compared to a normal monster soul. The shorter will have to gain his trust to be able to see his soul.. that will be fun. Finally the tentacle equipped skeleton spoke back to the taller skeleton that was hunched over and struggling to stay on his feet. "Oh.. Hello" The dark skeleton placed his hands in his pockets with his former defensive demeanor crumbling, it wasn't like the taller could be any sort of threat in his condition and if he even was he could just put is tentacles to use.

Cross stared at the dark skeleton with desperation, he'd do literally anything to get out of this hell hole so the shorter would have to ask something very outrageous in exchange for his freedom.

The shorter flicked his cyan eye light over Cross, debating what he should do. The plus side of this arrangement would be that he has another member to his group and a strong one to top it off, along a plentiful amount of negativity. Not that Nightmare was actually truly interested in that in the long run. The only downsides about this would be more resources to have to spare along with many more visits to Sci-. With probably the hardest struggle would be if this new addition would get along okay with his already 3 gang members. They had been in the gang for more then a couple years, so a new addition would either be welcome or hated. A certain injured and tall skeleton only had arrived a half a year ago compared to the two others who had been there for over a year at least. But he was most likely an outlier as he fit in perfectly.
Taking his hands out of his pockets he held one out to the skeleton with an iconic smile. "Well...If you come with me in exchange for your freedom and.. presence, you'll get a home and a bed to sleep in the process... What do you say Sans?"

Cross or "Sans" looked at the dark skeleton confused all the while taking his hand shakily. How did he know his name.., and why- why would he need his presence? ..He wasn't going to question it anymore at least not until he makes his way out of this place. "Deal.." Cross's hoarse void rasping painfully as he spoke, his hopes were high but as well as his anxiety and fears for what this skeleton wanted.

"Alright- glad we have a deal. You can call me Nightmare or Boss, whatever you prefer, just do what you're told and you'll get more then you even need. If you cause trouble with the others we will have a problem. Nightmare opened a dark portal to what looked to be a decently open room, a few lights to dimly light it could be seen. They began to walk into the portal still holding "Sans's" hand. The Sans hesitated for a moment, staring back at the void that held so many bad memories but also used to be his old au.. he knew that he would most likely never return here and he had to accept that and brace himself for what deal he just made with this Nightmare person. The mentioned skeleton looked back at the taller, giving his hand a small squeeze before he flashed a small comforting smile. His face quickly returning back to it's normal monotone one, he told himself every time that if he wanted this gang member to benefit him he would have to treat them nicely.-
At least that's what he told himself, it's probably because he had a soft spot for the bruised and battered. It certainly did bring up a lot of nostalgia. They both walked through the portal, the dark teleportation magic fizzling out soon after; leaving no trace that it was ever there and no returning back unless needed to. Cross took a deep breath, he would be shaking from anxiety if he already wasn't shaking from malnourishment. The black and white dressed skeleton just had to keep telling himself that he was no longer in that white hellish void and that this was not just a dream,

  this was real.
