There was a nervous buzz all around as the mob gathered after a failed mission. The chatter only ceased when a man wearing a black three-piece suit entered what can only be described as a throne room, but the nervous energy never dissipated.
Despite the dingy appearance of the basement, the single chair at the front held an air of elegance amplified by the beautiful man now sitting on it.
Park Sunghoon.
One of the wealthiest businessmen in the country. The man who was born with nothing and rose to the top. A person whose authority is followed and revered even by people not his own. The man who established many donation drives in the name of his husband to help people in need. The same man who bathes in blood whenever he leaves for a mission himself.
The most feared mob boss in the city.
The man who doesn't think twice before killing someone just because they failed to do a task assigned to them. And failed a task the people gathered did.
"Start the report," Park Sunghoon orders as he picks up from the table beside him and swirls the glass of blood-red wine in his hands.
The leader of the mission, Taekwoon, gulps as he is practically pushed to the front. "Mission R154 failed. The mission was to re—"
"Why did you fail?"
Everyone froze. Their boss cutting off the report right away meant one thing. He was furious. With the size of the party sent for the mission, even if it was only a retrieval mission, alluded to the importance of the object to be retrieved. With the sheer size of the people involved, people with varying capabilities, failure to complete the mission only really meant the leader was ineffective at best and a traitor at worst.
Which explains why Taekwoon is now on his knees begging for mercy. He knows he fucked up. He knows he's going to die soon anyway so there's no shame in begging if it meant staying alive for a few minutes more.
"I—I'm so sorry, Sir. I did everything—I swear, everything I could to complete the mission. I swear, please. Please spare me." Taekwoon pleaded, stuttering his way through each word.
Sunghoon let out a cruel laugh that sent shivers down the spine of everyone who could hear it. He stands up and towers over the pleading man.
"Spare you? Don't make me laugh." Sunghoon slowly spills the contents of his glass onto the man prostrated at his feet, the red of the wine mimicking blood as it soaks through his shirt. The sound of glass shattering startled the crowd as Sunghoon also dropped the glass onto the man's hand on the floor.
"Do you know how much resources you wasted? The amount of time we lost?" When the man stayed silent, Sunghoon barked, "Answer me!"
"No, Sir!" The man had tears running down his face. "Sir, I'm sorry. I'm really really sorry."
"Shut up," Sunghoon simply said as he strode back to his chair, pulling out a gun before he sat back down and crossed his legs.
"If you think your apology will save you, then you are sorely mistaken." The man sobbed harder as Sunghoon continued to twirl the gun in his hand as if it's a toy and not something that can kill anyone the owner wanted to die.
The door from where Sunghoon entered suddenly creaks open and everyone watches with bated breath as Sunghoon fixes the gun in his hand, ready to shoot whoever thought it was alright to interrupt the meeting.
"Who wants cookies?" There was a collective sigh of relief when the door only revealed Sunghoon's husband, Jungwon with a tray of cookies in hand.
"Jungwon, Love, what are you doing here?" Sunghoon asks as he tugs the smaller man to sit on his lap after setting down his gun next to the tray of cookies on the small table beside the chair. The oversized cream knit sweater Jungwon is wearing couldn't be more contrasting to the black suit Sunghoon donned.
"You were really stressed this morning and I just know this meeting will only make it worse. So I thought some cookies might help." Jungwon talks in pout, melting into his husband's embrace.
Everyone watched as their fearsome leader cuddled his husband right in front of them. This made many hopeful, Taekwoon especially, that there will be no death in the smaller man's presence. The man volunteers at orphanages or homes for elderlies every weekend, there's no way he will be accepting of killing, right? It makes everyone wonder why he even married Sunghoon of all people.
"I can handle myself, Jungwon-ah." Sunghoon chuckles as Jungwon hits the arm surrounding his waist.
"I can and will worry about you, Park Sunghoon. Whether you like it or not." Jungwon huffs and crosses his arms making Sunghoon coo at how adorable his husband looks in his arms. Jungwon lets out a sigh.
"I want to take care of you, okay?" Jungwon leans his head on his husband's shoulder and presses a kiss on the exposed skin of his husband's neck available to him. The grip on his waist tightened, making Jungwon giggle. "Let me?"
The crowd knew their boss would prefer it if they, the expendable people not even close to being included in their boss’s inner circle, don't ogle the couple while they are being intimate. This means that when the sound of a gunshot echoed in the basement room, followed by a cry of pain, everyone was shocked. Especially when they realized the one holding the gun wasn't Sunghoon, but his pretty little husband, Jungwon.
Jungwon approached Taekwoon, who was clutching his shoulder that now housed a bullet, and used the gun in his hand to lift the still kneeling man's head.
"Nobody betrays my husband's trust and gets away scot-free, do you understand?" Jungwon's voice was low as he digs the gun into the man's head with each syllable. When the man remained whimpering and not answering Jungwon shot the man's other shoulder making a matching bullet wound on each shoulder. His proximity meant some blood splattered on his sweater.
"You won't like where I'll aim next so answer me now. Do you understand?" The man manages a small nod and Jungwon tuts, "I should just kill you for this mess. This was my favorite sweater, you know.
"But I am feeling merciful right now. That's why you're alive and not yet dead by my husband's hand. However, if you fail again in the future, you should wish my husband gets to you first because I will make sure your remains are unrecognizable when I get my hands on you first." Jungwon lifts his head and faces the rest of the people in the room. His gaze felt heavy and sent shivers down the spine of everyone who received it. "That applies to everyone here. Betray my husband and you will face my wrath."
"Everyone leave." Sunghoon gestures to the bleeding man on the ground. "And bring along the trash with you."
As soon as the room emptied of everyone else, Sunghoon grabs Jungwon by the waist and claims his husband's lips. Jungwon drops the gun in shock but soon kisses back and encircles his hands around Sunghoon's neck, pressing their bodies closer together and swallowing the groan Sunghoon released at the pressure.
Jungwon smirks into the kiss and tugs lightly at Sunghoon's hair to release their lips. "And what did I do to earn such a reward in the middle of your bloodied floors?"
Sunghoon chuckles and presses his hand that was resting on Jungwon's lower back even more, reveling at the moans his lover tried to suppress with his sweater paws. The taller dips his head into the crook of Jungwon's neck and leaves light kisses along the exposed skin. "You were absolutely breathtaking earlier, my love. You should hold a gun more often."
"Whatever you want." Jungwon gasps when Sunghoon nips at his neck. "I'll do whatever you want me to do."
"Anything?" Sunghoon straightens and looks down on Jungwon, his eyes dark with want and pleasure. Jungwon shyly averts his gaze and nods.
"Use your words, Love."
Jungwon looks Sunghoon in the eyes and nods again.
"Anything."
Sunghoon places a chaste kiss on his husband's lips and murmurs against it, his breath tickling Jungwon. "Then lead beside me. Can you do that for me?"
"Yes."
"Very good."
The news about how Jungwon crippled the last failed mission's leader spread like wildfire across Sunghoon's men. Soon, everyone was as scared of facing Jungwon as they were scared of facing Sunghoon.
As for the couple themselves, Jungwon remained the cute husband of the famous businessman, Park Sunghoon in the eyes of the general public. However, as per Sunghoon's wishes, Jungwon now leads his men behind closed doors. Just as cruel and just as bloodthirsty as his partner and ever as protective of the other. Nobody really wanted to be on the couple's bad side.
