Chapter Text
“You really thought I’d want to be your friend? Please You’re a complete joke,” Ranboo mocked, pushing Tommy to the ground while laughing in his face.
All of Ranboo’s friends were laughing too. It made Tommy want to cry. But he can’t cry. It’s not allowed. He doesn’t know why, but it feels like if he started crying his entire world would end. That didn’t stop the stinging sensation in his eyes from forming though.
“Why don’t you go cry to your mommy? Oh that’s right, you can’t,” Ranboo mocked again, kicking Tommy in the gut. Ranboo and his friends then walked away, laughing. That’s when the stinging in his eyes turned into droplets falling down his cheeks. He doesn’t know if it was because of Ranboo kicking him in the gut or because of the mom comment, but he did something he wasn’t supposed to. He’s crying. He wasn’t supposed to do that.
He looked down at the ground and saw blood. Not just a little bit of blood, no, an entire puddle was surrounding his body. That’s when he realized there was blood pouring out of his mouth. And his eyes. And his gut where Ranboo had kicked him. Why was he bleeding? Ranboo didn’t kick him that hard, did he?
Why did Ranboo kick him? What did he do? Why was he talking to Ranboo again? He couldn’t remember.
He looked up and saw an eye. Not a pair of eyes, an eye. Just floating there. No head, no body, nothing. Just an eye. Just floating there. Why was an eye there?
“Be not afraid my child,” The eye spoke, “I am here to collect you”

He woke up in a cold sweat, gasping for air. What the hell? What was that?
He sat up and looked around his room. Oh, so it was a dream.
He then looked over to his nightstand. 9:30. Shit, he’s late for school. He jumped out of bed and got dressed as soon as he could. After getting dressed, he grabbed his backpack and ran downstairs and out the door.
He looked in the driveway to find his dad’s, Techno’s and Wilbur’s cars gone. Guess they left him without even waking him up. Once he stepped off the porch he was hit with a wave of just rain. He was moving so fast out of the house, he didn’t even realize it was pouring rain. He was already so late, he decided on just running through the rain instead of going back in and grabbing an umbrella.
By the time he got to school, it was already 9:56. He had missed 2 classes already. He ran into his 3rd class of the day, Math. He despised his math class. Not only did he struggle really bad with focusing and math in general, he honestly just hated the teacher. Mrs. Gremlin really lived up to her name.
“Thomas, how lovely of you to join us,” Mrs. Gremlin said as Tommy walked into the classroom, shifting all the attention onto him. “Sorry. I overslept,” is all he said before he sat down. Mrs. Gremlin gave him a death stare the entire time he was walking to his seat and the rest of the class period.
After math was thankfully a break period. He walked to the library, where he usually hangs out during break periods and lunch. He usually just reads or takes a quick nap.
He doesn’t really have anybody to hang out with, not since his best, and only, friend Tubbo kind of ended his life back in September, just two months ago. Tommy didn’t know everything that had been going on in Tubbo’s life, but he knew enough about how Tubbo was abused at home and they were both massly bullied at school.
After Tubbo’s death, the bullies kind of just stopped. He thinks they feel guilty and rightfully so. They did play a part in his death, so they deserve to feel guilt. But since Tubbo’s death, he’s kind of just been alone. At school and at home.
Ever since his mother died a few years ago when he was 11, his family ignored him. She died in a car crash. Tommy was in the car with her but was the only one of the two who survived. His family blames him for it. He blames himself too. But ever since her death they haven’t really had a normal, healthy conversation. None of them want to talk to Tommy. He understands though, he’s not mad. If he could, he’d avoid himself too.
He should be grateful. At least his family doesn’t abuse him, They just ignore him. It could be worse. Plus he was 14 now! He was plenty old enough to not need their constant attention.. Or attention at all. He was fine. It was fine. It’s not like he was completely alone. I mean yeah, his only friend is dead and his family hates him, but at least he still has The Eye.
What.
That was weird. What’s the eye? He… can’t seem to remember this supposed ‘friend’ of his. So yeah, he was alone. But that’s okay. Look on the bright side, at least he can take a nap in peace now in the library.
He walked to the back of the library and sat down on one of the sofas. He set his bag on the ground, and was about to lay down when Ranboo, one of the most popular kids in school, and his friends walked into the back of the library and sat on some of the sofas back there with Tommy.
Tommy admired Ranboo so much. He had always wanted to be friends with him but he was just too scared to even talk to him. He was always jealous of Ranboo’s friends. They all had it easy. All of them were rich with loving families.
All Tommy wants is to be like them.
He decided to grab his bag and walk out of the library. All those people were stressing him out. He walked down the hallway to go to the courtyard. As he turned the corner he bumped into someone.
“Oh god i’m-” Tommy started but was cut off by the person he bumped into. “Oh, hey guys look at this, it’s the freak,” The guy, who turned out to be Jack, one of his and Tubbo’s bullies, laughed with his other little goons behind him. “Haven’t seen you in awhile. I mean I get it, you can’t exactly live without Freak #2, can you? I mean you’re going to have to now,” They all burst into laughter.
“St- Stop, That- that isn’t funny. You shouldn’t be making fun of someone’s dea- death,” Tommy stuttered. He’s never stood up against Jack before but he really hit a nerve making fun of Tubbo’s death like that.
“S- S- S- Stop it,” Jack mocked, “Please, you sound so pathetic. What? Your bodyguard is gone so now you have to stand up for yourself? Why don’t you just stick to being the whiny little push over you’ve always been and leave the standing up to the other frea- Oh wait that’s right, he’s not here to protect you anymore,” Jack laughed and kicked Tommy to the ground. When Tommy fell, his head hit the floor so hard it had started bleeding. After Jack and his friends saw the blood, Jack kicked him in the stomach and left.
Tommy reached up to touch the spot that had hurt the most and when he pulled his hand away there was blood. Not a lot but enough to be concerning. He got up and decided to go to the bathroom. Once he got to the bathroom, he grabbed some paper towels and started to clean the wound. It wasn’t too bad, just a bit of blood. He was a bit light headed, but he’d be fine.
He went to hide in a stall for the rest of the break period, but ended up crying himself to sleep. When he woke up it was already 2:57, almost the time school ended. He had missed lunch and like 4 classes.
He stood up, grabbed his backpack and walked out of school. He decided to go to the park instead of home. Wilbur and Techno were home around that time because they left school earlier than he did, and he didn’t want to see them right now. (Even though they probably would’ve just ignored him like usual.)
Once he got to the library he grabbed one of the biographies about some serial killer and sat in the back. He read the book for about 20 minutes before he started to get sleepy again and dozed off.
This time whenever he woke up, it was to a lady shaking him awake.
“Excuse me, sir, sorry to bother you but we’re closing soon,” She informed him, letting go of his shoulder. He looked around and shook off his sleep really fast. Closing soon? But the Library didn’t close until-
That immediately shook the rest of his tiredness off him. He checked the time on his phone. It read 9:26. He slept for 6 hours. It was already dark outside, he noticed after looking out of the window. He noticed the library attendant was still standing in front of him, giving him a worried look.
“Uhm- Sorry, Thank you. I’ll be leaving now,” He said, standing up quickly and booking it out of the library. He ran as fast as he could to get home. His family usually never notices him but he’s never stayed out this late before. What if they’re mad? What if they hit him? He doesn’t know if it’d be a good or a bad thing if they were mad. On one hand, that would mean they might actually care about him. On the other hand, that also means he’ll probably be grounded or worse.
He was so busy overthinking what would happen when he got home, he didn’t even notice the car coming straight toward him as he crossed the street. Everything was moving too fast. There was no time to think.
The last thing Tommy remembered seeing was someone standing over him.
Huh, that kind of looks like mum.
