Work Text:
Know when to fold ‘em
Know when to walk away
And know when to run
- The Gambler – Kenny Rogers
“Raise,” Darcy said.
A collective cry rose from the table as Sam and Clint folded.
“Call. If I didn’t know better, Sparks, I’d say you were reading minds.”
“Damn it, Jim, I’m a witch, not a mind reader.”
Tony raised a skeptical eyebrow and laid out his hand. “Four of a kind.”
“Nice. But it doesn’t beat a flush. Royal.”
Tony swore, tossed his cards onto the table. “That’s the sixth time you’ve won. Sure you’re not working some voodoo on our minds?”
“Pretty slow for a genius, Stark,” Jane said, wandering in from the common room kitchen with her post star-gazing snack. “You’re playing with her deck. She charms her cards.”
