“OCIE!” Chaos’s shout announced that today was going to be an interesting day. Perhaps an arson day if Chaos was feeling particularly destructive or perhaps a question life day if it was any more of what someone had called shower thoughts. The last one still had Ocie’s brain (if she had one) confuddled. Chaos had casually told her that you couldn’t stand on stairs backwards and then left her to try and prove it wrong for half an hour or more before she finally gave up.
“Hey Chaos,” Ocie greated as the other ran up, silently gauging if there were visible explosives or fire starters on the other’s person. Not that she could see, or smell. That was weird. Chaos had a distinct gunpowder and soot scent at most times due to burning down mansions and blowing up forests among other things. Thinking about it that really sounded bad out of context.
“Ok so you know how we live in the Overworld, right,” Chaos rambled. They didn’t wait for confirmation and continued on. “Well if it’s the OVER world it has to be Over something.”
Well this wasn’t what she was expecting. Although that did kinda make sense in a sense.
“So it’s like what is below us. At first I thought the Nether cause… actually I’m not sure why it seemed like the obvious choice at first. Bedrock ceiling, bedrock floor, you get it. But then, get this, Rae told me about this bottomless pit in the last place. A BOTTOMLESS pit. So if it is just void down there then what are we over top of. So then I thought maybe the End because all the books in the Archives said it’s a bunch of islands floating in the void. But there doesn’t seem to be any islands below us, or above us for that matter - although in the last whatever apparently there were end islands in the sky according to others then again they also said that wasn’t natural so, eh. So anyways I want to know if you want to try and dig underneath the world with me to see what’s down there. Cause something has to be down there if we are over it because we can’t be over nothing otherwise why not just call it The World instead of The Overworld, so you in?”
“Huh- wha-sure?” Ocie stuttered. She was still processing the first few sentences.
“Awesome I’ll get my stuff, meet you at the train in five!” Chaos grinned as they skipped away.
Everything finally caught up to Ocie and she sighed. What had she gotten herself into. Gods save them. Chaos better not ask about the saying ‘to the ends of the Earth’ later either. She wasn’t sure what an Earth was or where it ended.
