Chapter Text
3 p.m. A.V. Room. Password ‘Mellon.’ Don’t keep me waiting, Princess.
The note, written undeniably in Eddie’s messy scrawl, was tacked to the inside of your locker. Not shoved haphazardly through the vent, but actually attached to the interior of the door, despite the fact that your combination lock remained intact. Another unsurprising penchant of your boyfriend’s character. You didn’t question it, smiling like a goon to yourself as you studied Eddie’s random doodles bordering his words. He always had a hard time staying still.
The two of you had been officially dating since spring break and things were going incredibly well. You were calculatingly ignoring the gnawing in the back of your mind that kept reminding you you’d be moving back out to California for UCLA in a matter of three short months. You’d deal with it later….
Your relationship had been well received by the rest of Hellfire, who were quite frankly enjoying the slight reprieve from being Eddie’s prime audience, as he was often..let’s say..otherwise occupied with you. Eddie had even taken to (*gasp*) showing up for the majority of his classes, or at least the ones you shared with him. Which is why you were mildly surprised when he was found absent from Lit., your final class of the day. How strange a feeling to be surprised that Eddie the perpetual senior Munson had cut class. You tried to focus as best you could on what Ms. O’Donnell was saying about John Milton, but you were finding it impossible to concentrate thinking about whatever Ed had planned for you. He was nothing if not ambitiously creative. You were finding that applied to a whole hell of a lot more than just DnD.
Which is why when the end of day bell mercifully rang at long last, you eagerly made your way down one of the more secluded Hawkins High hallways as the last of your classmates filed out. The A.V. Room was at the other end of the building, though you managed to make it there just in time. Eddie loved punishing you almost as much as you loved being punished by him, so you considered lingering a couple of minutes longer, but impatience won out in the end. It was exactly 3 p.m., you confirmed looking to the overhead clock and you rapped lightly at the door.
A voice rang out from the other side that, while recognizable as Eddie’s, was one of his show voices he often put on as Dungeon Master when he led a campaign.
“Speak friend, and enter,” the voice uttered mysteriously.
“Eddie, what the fuck..” you giggled while trying to jiggle the handle but finding it locked from the inside.
Eddie let out a loud, exaggerated sigh, followed by, “Can you at least try to play along, sweetheart? What’s your password?”
“Oh, right..” you fumbled. “Melon. Like watermelon?”
“Jesus Christ kid,” Eddie huffed with the creak of the door as he opened it, revealing his beautiful front to you. “One of these days I will get you into Tolkien.”
“Imagine how well you’d be doing in Ms. O’Donnell’s class if she only knew how much you actually read,” you replied with a roll of your eyes and a sly grin.
“That just takes all the fun out of it,” Eddie retorted as he grabbed you by your wrists, pulling you inside and pressing you against the door as he closed it behind you. His hand trailed up to the knob, locking it with a soft ‘click.’
“Hey,” he teased, his nose mere centimeters from your own with a classic Eddie grin plastered on his beautiful face.
You felt the anticipatory bubbles gurgle up within your stomach, making their way up your chest as they always did when you were with Eddie. You didn’t think you’d ever be able to settle them.
“You weren’t in class this afternoon,” you breathed.
“Keeping tabs on me, princess?” he teased . “You must’ve really been missing me.”
That cocky smirk of his made you positively mental every time he flashed it.
“They say absence makes the heart grow fonder, m’lady” he continued. “I got so hard thinking about what I was going to do with you this afternoon, I simply couldn’t manage it. No matter how metal an epic poem about the Devil may be.”
This is what you were talking about. He did fucking read Paradise Lost. Why the fuck was he still hanging around here when he could easily have graduated three times over by now? Although, you selfishly thought to yourself, if he had, you would probably never have met him. You couldn’t let his admission go without a little teasing.
“Well, well, well…you actually do read something other than Tolkien on top of your hours scouring the Dungeon Master’s Guide.”
With a furrow of his brow and pursing his plush lips into a mocking ‘ooo’ Eddie slapped on a look of feigned hurt. “Ouch. You caught me, baby girl. Might wanna watch that mouth, though, you know I’m just dying for a reason to break you.”
No matter how confident you’d gotten smarting off to Eddie and loving every bit of how it affected him, he still always managed to win over you in battles of verbal wit.
With this battle clearly won at your marked lack of response, Eddie chuckled mockingly. “Whatsa matter, princess? Didn’t think you’d give up that easily.”
You opened your mouth to respond with an undoubtedly dull counter, but Eddie beat the words to your lips as he preemptively silenced you with an agonizing kiss.
