Chapter Text
When Dumbledore announced that Harry Potter would be teaching Defense Against the Dark Arts that year, Severus looked up from the book he was reading and incredulously watched as a young man - a very young man who looked as if he should be a student himself - stood from where he was sitting at the high table and gave a nod and a wave to the children seated about the Great Hall.
The dark-haired man was quick to retake his seat, and the Headmaster went on to explain, “Professor Potter has come to be with us as the result of an unfortunate time traveling incident. The magic which brought him here was highly complex, and therefore it is incapable of being reversed. There have been two similar cases documented and studied before, and specialists from the Ministry have determined that history as Mr. Potter knows it will be forever altered, and returning to his original timeline is an impossibility. The situation is regrettable, but we are very fortunate to have a wizard of Professor Potter's knowledge and ability to teach at Hogwarts. So please, help us welcome Professor Potter to this decade, and help him feel comfortable in his new home here.”
Like hell, Severus seethed. Harry Potter - undoubtedly a direct relation to James Potter if the resemblance was any indication - would receive a less than hearty welcome if he had anything to say about it.
Meeting eyes with his housemates, Severus shared a nasty smile with the other Slytherins.
