Feed Me Bacon and Tell Me I'm Pretty, a Dean and Cas Meet-Cute

Summary:

I saw a t-shirt hanging in a diner this past weekend that said: Feed Me Bacon and Tell Me I'm Pretty and OF COURSE I thought of Dean Winchester immediately. This shirt inspired this little meet-cute.

Work Text:

Feed Me Bacon And Tell Me I'm Pretty T-shirt, Men's, Size: Adult S, Black

“Dean, do you have to wear that shirt? It’s embarrassing, man.”

“No, it isn’t Sammy! Bacon is a precious gift from the universe, Sam. And you should show some respect. Besides, I look adorable in this shirt.”

Sam gives Dean bitchface number 431 as they walk into the diner. As the hostess walks them to their table, Dean flashes her a dazzling smile. As they take their seat, he gives her a wink. She walks away without giving him a second glance.

“Do you always have to be so gross?” Sam asks.

“What do you mean?” Dean asks, confusion all over his face.

“The wink, the smile, the flirting? Gross, Dean. She’s at work just trying to do her job. You think she wants every jerk that comes in here to flirt with her?”

Their waiter approaches, eyebrow raised, just as Sam finishes his sentence. Dean looks appropriately embarrassed before he even looks up. And then he DOES look up and Holy Shit - BLUE.

“I’m sorry?” the waiter says, and that’s when Dean realizes he said the word ‘blue’ out loud.

“Uhhh…” he responds elegantly and thank God Sam’s brain is still working because he saves Dean’s panicked-ass from prolonging this moment any further.

“Hi, sorry, we’ll take two waters, and I’ll have a salad with grilled chicken …” Sam responds, waiting for Dean to chime in with his order.

Except Dean just sits there. And stares at their waiter like an absolute creeper. Finally Sam clears his throat and Dean is broken from his trance.

“Burger. Ah, cheeseburger?” Dean says.

“Are you asking me, or are you telling me?” the waiter says with a smile.

“Telling! Definitely telling you, that I’d uh, like a cheeseburger. With lots of bacon. Um. Please.” Dean manages to sputter out.

The waiter looks at him, then back at Sam, then down to his notebook. “A bacon cheeseburger and a salad with grilled chicken- I’ll get that order right in guys. My name is Cas and I’ll be.. taking care of you tonight,” he says as he turns back to Dean and Dean just swallows, says nothing, and watches him walk away. After the waiter is out of hearing distance, Sam turns to Dean and says,

“What the hell was that? What did I just watch?”

“Whaddya mean? Nothing. Just, ordering a damn burger okay. Can’t a guy order a damn burger?” Dean barks, though his face is on fire he's blushing so hard.

“Blue,” is all Sam says, with a knowing smirk on his face a mile wide.

Dean decides this is a great time to get up and go wash his hands. Anything to stop looking at Sam’s annoying face. When he comes back from the bathroom, Dean totally changes the subject to Sam and his new girlfriend, Eileen. Just as Dean is about to tease Sam about their Skype dates, their waiter - Cas, Dean reminds himself - brings them their food.

He places Sam’s salad down first, and as he’s placing Dean’s bacon cheeseburger on the table in front of him, he looks Dean directly in the eyes and says

“Here's your BACON cheeseburger. You’re pretty.”

And then walks away.

Sam erupts into laughter and Dean sits there like a stone. His mouth is open and he can’t move, he can’t speak, is he even breathing? He can’t tell.

“I TOLD YOU you shouldn’t wear that shirt!” Sam continues to laugh. And laugh and laugh. And laugh some more.

Dean finally turns his head to find Cas standing by the kitchen and yeah, he's smug. He's standing by the kitchen door smirking, looking pretty damned proud of himself and why shouldn't he?

And hey, Sam can say whatever he wants about Dean's shirt because Dean is pretty damn sure it's about to get him a date with the hottest guy he's ever seen.
