“Hey, baby? Are you here?” Steve was standing in front of Eddie’s room door. There was silence.
“Kid, i don’t think he’s going leave from there soon. See this?” Wayne pointed a finger at little piece of board nailed to the door with an inscription ‘No entry’.
“Yeah, is that a problem?” Steve frowned. He saw it for the first time and it didn’t seem good.
“Kind of. It means he definitely doesn’t want anyone to come in.” There was a heavy sigh. “I’d like to help you, but here I can do nothing. You just need to wait.”
“And do you know how long can it take?” Steve didn’t know what happens with Eddie, but he wants to help him.
“It’s all depends on him. I can’t say for sure. You know, you can stay here. I have shift in 20 minutes and I really need to go. See you later, Steve.” Wayne went to exit the trailer.
”Uh– Yeah, bye.” After Wayne left Steve came closer to the door. “Eddie, darling, do you want to talk to me?” No sound. “Hey, I see you don’t want someone to be around now, but If you need me, just know that I’m right here. I want to know that you’re alright, but I can wait as long as you need.
Two seconds and door opened. Steve’s heart could break at the second he saw Eddie wrapped in blanket with wet eyes and cheeks.
“Please, just enter my room.” Eddie took his arm and pulled him towards the bed. Steve didn’t say anything and lay on the bed with him. He wrapped his arms around Eddie and played with his curls. They’re always so soft and Steve could never control himself. “Why are you here, Steve?”
“I came to spend time with you and then Wayne said that you are in your room. Can I ask, Eds?” There was a little nod from him. “How often do you use this piece of plank? I do not force you to answer right now, take your time, darling.”
They were laying in silence for a minute, but then Eddie answered. “I use it when I have a really bad mood. It’s not that often anymore because I have our party and you, but I had awful dreams tonight and I decided to stay here. Sorry I didn’t tell you.”
“Hey Eddie, you don’t have to be sorry about it. I understand. I’m glad you let me enter. We can lie together and I will play with your hair and hold you in my arms or we can talk. It’s your choice, maybe you want to do something else, just tell me. I’ll do everything for you.” Steve gave him a little smile and kissed his forehead.
“Actually I want just to lie with you.” Eddie moved closer and put his head on Steve’s chest. His arms wrapped tighter around his waist.
“Eds, I love you.” Steve buried himself in Eddie’s hair and smiled.
“I love you too, Stevie. More than anything.” Steve’s eyes opened in shock.
“Even more than D&D?” Eddie started to laugh.
“Not that more, Steve.” His smile was wide and he couldn’t stop to laugh.
“Wow, how dare you? I will never forgive you, you broke my heart.” Steve grimaced in mock pain.
“Alright, do you want to hear my biggest secret?” After nod he lifted his head right to Steve’s ear and whispered. “I love you even more than D&D. I mean it.”
Steve leaned over and kissed his cheek. “I know it. Just wanted to hear it from you.” Eddie shook his head and lay back on his chest.
“Whatever.”
They didn’t leave the room until evening.
