Work Text:
I can’t believe this. We were in the stupid bookstore again, except this time Jester was asking about freaking smut books; I mean they aren’t awful. But the timing of such a trip, for an item like ‘Tusk Love’….. Not that I’m saying I hate it, mostly because I get the option to browse books as well, but the lady that owns the store insisted I follow her and Jester to the romance section.
“That’ll be three silver.” I essentially zoned out for the majority of the conversation between the shopkeep and Jester; but when Jester punched my arm I’m thrown from my thoughts. I rub the now tender skin of my bicep, I watch as she giddily skips of to Beau who’s looking at the section of poetry, I smile a bit, these are crazy, but they’re my people.
“And you, sir? I did just come into stock of a brand new book I feel you would like.” I look down at the shopkeep, she grins wolfishly up at me, I sigh letting my shoulders sag.
“Why not.” I say in response, the shopkeep scuffles around quickly grabbing a book with bright colors covering the cover. She shuffles back over to where I currently stand and shove the book into my hands, she looks up to me once again and says,
“It’s called ‘Fleeting’, it’s about a boy who travels the world and the realms, and one day he comes upon a circus,” at the mention of circus I glance over to where Molly stands, I fix my gaze back onto the shopkeep. “And someone who works for the circus, particularly a male trapeze artist catches his eye. The whole book is spectacular,” she leans in closer to me, “and the naughty scenes are written wonderfully.”
As she continues to explain the plot to me the heat in my face ignites, presumably in a dark pink, the tips of my pointed ears grow hot as well.
“Uhh, thank you for uh um proposing this book, but I’m actually more so into poetry.” I quickly blurt out, she analyses my face for a moment, then puts her hands up in a surrender, setting the book down on the table to the side of us. Eyeing me knowingly before strutting away to tend to other customers. I sigh, placing my right hand on the table using my other hand to hide my vicious blush, trying to cool the heat from my face; though it’s ironically interrupted.
I notice from my peripheral that Molly is stalking his way through the shop toward me, I stand straight and as quickly as I can in the small shop, power walk towards Beau. I enter the poetry section as quickly and as quietly as I can muster, from the corner of my eye I see Beau grinning smugly; presumably because of my flustered appearance.
“You alright there bud? You look a little..frazzled.” I huff at her words. I may or may not have accidentally blurted out to her one night that I slightly fancied Molly. But who doesn’t?! The charismatic bastard could get anyone he please wrapped around his finger, though that didn't stop Beau from endlessly teasing me. What’s worse is that I have no doubt in my mind that Molly knows, and what makes it worse is that while Beau teases me, so does Molly.
“I am perfectly fine, it’s….a little stuffy in here.” I huff out while fanning my face, at the moment I feel as though I’m about to implode, and Beau’s knowing nod and teasing ‘of course’ makes it worse.
The rest of the time spent in the shop I keep away from both Molly and Beau, though I do purchase a few books of poetry and a dystopian world that did catch my eye. As we exit, I inhale deeply, finally leaving the small and actually very stuffy book shop. We slowly make our way back to the inn we’re staying; my still trying to avoid Molly and Beau was becoming progressively more difficult. Though it didn’t really matter, as when we get back to the inn I’ll simply lock myself in my room for the rest of the night. I've got my training guide to go over, I still have some things I need to master.
“If you need me I’ll be in my room for the rest of the evening, g’night.” I say hurriedly addressing all of my party, I turn promptly hearing some of them reply to my goodnight; finally the rest of the day in peace. I swiftly climb the stairs of the inn to my room, I always pay for an extra room for myself, primarily because there are still things I’m not ready to address with my friends.
I dig into my pocket, fishing around for the metal key after a few seconds of searching, my fingers finally find the cool metal stick. After unlocking the door to my room, I quickly walk to my bedside, dropping my heavy backpack from my shoulders. I sigh, what a freakin’ day especially because of that shopkeep, and Beau who took every chance she could get; sometimes it’s just a little exhausting.
I lay back onto my bed, before my head can even hit the pillow a knock sounds off the wooden door leading to my room. I groan, pulling myself away from my comfortable bed walking slowly to the door, the knocking still continuing.
“I’m coming, I’m coming.” I shout, my patience quickly wearing down to the bone, ripping the door open, I'm greated with violet skin and the ever so faint smell of freshly washed linen. Mollymauk. I have to look up slightly to meet his eyes, though I suppose I don’t really want it to meet them right now, I already feel like exploding.
“I know you said that you would be retiring for the rest of the day, but I want to give you something darling.” I glance to his left hand, which is behind his back, presumably holding said something. Although when he takes a step forward attempting to close the distance between us, I take a step back; he takes another forward. I feel akin to an animal being hunted, and the growing smirk that was blooming onto his lips only made me feel smaller; with each step he took forward I took one back.
I nearly shit myself as my back touches the wooden wall, now trapped between the wall and Molly was not a adaquet position to be stuck in. Placing his right hand above my head, he ducks his head down to me, I can feel the warmth from his body rolling off of him, hitting me in suffocating waves. His face is close, far to close for me to be able to control the heat that burned my cheeks and ears, no doubt he notices.
“I saw you looking at this book back in the bookshop, I decided to buy as a gift for you. I will admit I read a bit of it myself.” His voice is low as he speaks to me, I can’t seem to tear my eyes away from his, however when I feel something poke at me sternum I glance down.
I want to explode as I stare at the cover of the book, with slight quivering hands I wrap my fingers around spine, refusing to meet Molly’s ruby eyes. Molly at this point most definitely knows that I fancy him, or he’s teasing me just to tease me, which is not funny.
“I happen to like the traveler boy, he reminds me of someone I know.” The low rumble of his words vibrate through my chest, the smell of of freshly washed linen with earthy undertones making my head spin. His body heat in general making my legs feel weak and shaky, if I weren’t pressed against a wall I would’ve fallen by this point.
“I hope you’ll give it a read.” I shudder as his warm breath blows over my ear as he speaks, he tucks his face into the junction where my shoulder and neck meet. Breathing in deeply as if committing my own scent to memory, his breaths sending individual shudders through my limbs; everything about him was utterly intoxicating.
His lips brush against my pinkened skin, his teeth grazing my skin with feathery light touch.
“What the hell is happening?!”
“You should know Sedar, that not everyone gets such treatment from me.” His breath creates a moisture on my neck, before his pointy canines sink into my delicate skin; for a moment while he smoothes his tongue over the mark. I feel as though I can’t breath, my breath caught in my throat, his tongue leaving traces of his siliva on my skin; it’s almost too much.
The pain caused by his teeth, the absolute shiver of pleasure I have to subdue, the whimper that catches in my sticky throat; fighting the urge to wrap my hands around his neck. Incouraging him to continue. But I don’t. I stand and wait for him to finish whatever the hell he’s doing, not that I really mind it, or that he minded my compliance either.
That is until his warmth receeded from my own, it took most all of my will power to not shudder at the sudden lack of warmth; from his particularly heated infernal body. I watch as he winks and sashayes out of my room, his tail swaying behind him the door closing in his wake; I crumple to the wooden flooring silently.
“What the hell…” I whisper.
