Papilio Pupa

Summary:

"Long ago, DreamXD his grace created Aria. He put together the land and shaped our waters. Those of us with a gift for wielding the magical enemies of this world, however, were allowed to stay in his domain. Where we are now, Pupa. The safest and most prosperous domain in the world.”

The world is split in two. Fae and Wizards despise each other, and no one can be trusted. However, when a Fae prince meets a wizard apprentice, he soon begins to break the rules.

One after another.

Note: The final chapter of this book is dedicated to Technoblade. It's not exactly what I was planning on doing for the ending but I wanted to give our King Techno a true happy ending <3

Chapter Text

Long ago, DreamXD his grace created Aria. He put together the land and shaped our waters. He created many beautiful creatures, but he was lonely. So, he created a woman. She was kind to him, but wished for more people. So he made more. And more, and more. Until all of Aria was populated. Then he stopped and turned to her. To ask if he had done well and pleased her. Sadly, she had passed away 10 years earlier. DreamXD screamed out in anguish, feeling a need to prove to her that he was a good and graceful god. So, he split the world in two. The people like her, powerless and feeble, were cast out of his divine domain to survive on their own. They now live in an area called the Impotens. Those of us with a gift for wielding the magical enemies of this world, however, were allowed to stay in his domain. Where we are now, Pupa. The safest and most prosperous domain in the world.”

Ranboo stared up at Kirsten with big, wide eyes. Techno snorted, playing with Ranboo’s hair as the baby sat in his lap.

“Yeah yeah Mum, I get it.”

Kirsten glared, settling her hands in her lap as she watched her sons.

“Speak proper Techno. You will not speak so casually to me as a fae. We should be-”

“Proud of who we are and carry ourselves with elegance and grace, I got it oh mother of thine .”

Techno stood up, gasping and blowing a raspberry at Ranboo as he lifted the child into his arms. Support the head, walk gracefully.

“Come on Booger, I’m gonna show you my best friend Sap, he can do cool things with light.”

He walked away from Kirsten, who watched with a small smile tugging on the corners of her lips. She was quite proud of her princes. One 6, the other 1. Techno initially had hated Ranboo stealing all the attention, but had warmed up to him and was already caring for the baby.

She just hoped that they could stay this happy forever.

Tubbo groaned and rubbed his eyes, glaring at the light peeking through his tattered curtains. His dad crossed the room, opening the curtains fully and glaring at the sleepy boy.

“Get up, you have Initiation today.”

Tubbo groaned, sitting up and stretching.

“Can’t I reschedule? Today does not feel like a Future Wizard day.”

Schlatt snorted and dragged Tubbo out of bed to the bathroom, lecturing him on the way.

“Initiation is supervised by the king, you can’t just reschedule the king. He’d probably decay you in a moment.”

Tubbo shivered and stood up, brushing his wildly out of control hair and brushing his teeth until they shone.

“I doubt he would though, The king doesn’t use magic that often.”

His father grumbled, throwing an apple at him.

“You need to get there on time anyway. Remember your catalyst before you go and don’t look too hard at anyone with marks under their eyes.”

Tubbo caught the apple, punching Schlatt’s arm and taking his bag of shiny things.

“Yeah yeah Dad, love you see you later, I won’t agitate any fae folk.”

Tubbo ran out of the house and down the village street, heading up to the castle. He waved at Tommy as he ran, who was begrudgingly picking up a bunch of carrots that Tubbo could tell he had knocked over while doing a random crazy spell. Tommy waved back with a grin, tossing a carrot at him and muttering Viridis Fluxis.

It turned into a little green Tommy statue who gave Tubbo a thumbs up. Tubbo grinned at Tommy, raising it above his head.

“I’ll tell you how initiation goes, promise!”

Tommy grinned back at him and nodded, waving him away.

“Go! Don’t be late ya doofus!”

Tubbo chuckled and ran towards the castle, a happy little skip in his step.

Phil leaned on the palm of his hand, watching the applicants with a bored gaze. His eyes flicked down to their catalysts curiously. They were all laid out on the table inbetween Phil and them. Ready for judging.

Bow, Bow, rocks, bow, sword- well that kid’s not prepared, bow, bow, bow….

His attention snapped towards the door as a kid with messy brown hair stumbled in through the door. He waved cheerfully at Phil, taking his place in line and dumping a bag that clinked with every movement next to the other catalysts. Phil watched him curiously, motioning to him.

“You. What’s in the bag?”

The kid grinned and opened his bag, revealing a bunch of mechanical objects and toys that gleamed with a polished flair. Phil scoffed and stood up.

The applicants all froze, other than the brown haired kid who was still buzzing with excitement.

“What’s your name kid?”

The kid looked at the other applicants then back at Phil, pointing to himself in a question of you talking to me? Phil nodded and the kid stepped forward, bowing to him.

“My name is Tubbo, your majesty.”

Phil nodded, motioning for Tubbo to stand up straight.

“Show me what you can do with your catalysts. “

Tubbo grinned and nodded, grabbing a toy from the pile and taking a small bolt out of a little bag nearby. Phil held out his hand for the bolt and Tubbo gently placed it in his hand.

It was heavy. Definitely felt dense. Phil nodded approvingly, giving it back to Tubbo. The kid held the bolt in his hands, muttering to it.

Seni ostrum fortis.”

The bolt glowed red as Tubbo put the bolt into the machine and set it walking. Phil watched it walk away from the group, still standing in front of the kid. Tubbo kept muttering under his breath, counting down.

As he reached Zero the bolt popped out of the mechanism. It flashed a bright purple and created a large force field around the bolt, shining brightly. Phil stared at it, stepping forward curiously. He walked around the force field, tapping it.

“Excellent structure, plus with a delayed effect that I've never seen before. Impressive. Rubrim fluxis.”

Phil’s hand flashed red, the force field cracking but not breaking. He raised an eyebrow, even more impressed.

“Oh sorry I’ll get that for you- Expungo .”

The shield broke and the bolt disappeared. Tubbo picked up the mechanism, putting it back in his bag. Phil sat back on his throne, noting the glares that the other applicants sent Tubbo’s way. He clapped his hand, signalling to a guard.

“Yes?”

“Go get my sons. I think Tubbo can teach them a lot and learn quite a bit too.”

The guard nodded and walked away. Then Phil turned his gaze to the rest of the applicants.

“You have until the princes get here to impress me. Go.”
