Someone Has To

Summary:

Willow was hurting, but couldn't show it, after all... Someone has to be strong right now and dammit, it was going to be her.

Willow thoughts as she thinks about her own feelings.

Notes:

Just something short abour Willow. I'd like to write something longer about her eventually but this was a good start, I think.

Work Text:

Willow was breaking apart inside, she had to admit that to herself, as much as she didn't want to. She wanted so badly to put on a brave face for everyone because well, everyone's been through so much more than she has. What was she crying for?

Someone here had to tough it out and dammit, it was going to be her. And yet... she just couldn't seem to push her emotions down. She was crying and it made her feel weak and she hated feeling weak.

She didn't want Amity to see her as weak. For once, between the two of them, she wanted to be the strong one. There was a part of her that wanted Amity to look to her for strength.

She didn't want Luz to sew her as weak. Luz already had so much on her plate. Luz was already being forced to be way tougher than she should have to. And Willow wanted to give her a break.

Gus needed her, badly. He was the youngest of everyone and they had just got him to stop crying finally. Gus was her best friend for all those years, but the last thing he needed right now was to be burdened with her emotions.

Hunter looked up to her with such admiration and she loved that someone looked up to her like that. She didn't want him to see her more vulnerable side, because she didn't want him to stop seeing her as the strong captain.

But in truth, Willow was missing her dads. she was missing Skara and Viney and playing Flyer Derby with them. She was worried sick about King.

Oh, King...

Part of her felt responsible for him doing what he did... sacrificing himself. Because wasn't it her who gave him that idea? She told him that you just have to wait for the right opportunity to help. And it's thanks to her he took that opportunity. And now he was gone and it was her fault.

The least she could was be strong for them, right? Hide her feelings for their sakes.
