A broken portal, what could possibly go wrong?

Summary:

That episode made me cry, I speedran the five stages of grief over it, and now I'm here.

Have some angst!

Work Text:

The old wooden door slammed shut in front of Luz.

Opening it a few times only confirmed her thoughts.

She was stuck in the human realm.

She couldn't get back to the demon realm.

None of them could get back to the demon realm.

Which also meant none of the witches behind her, would ever get to see their families again. The exception being Hunter who, well...

The Collector dealt with Belos. Albeit a bit more violently than she thought.

(she could still see the ooze that was once a man dripping down to the floor)

Luz turned around to face her friends, and her girlfriend, who were staring at her with varying degrees of shock. Hunter still looked like he wanted to cry, had been since The Collector, Amity had a look of such concern, one Luz knew she didn't deserve, and Willow and Gus, well...

Gus looked on the verge of crying. Willow didn't look much better, but she was the most composed with the current situation.

But they couldn't get back.

And that was the terrifying part! Their lives were there, all of them! Luz in the Owl House, Willow Amity and Gus all had families to get back to, and Luz had just inadvertently taken that away. What if Eda needed her help, or Raine, the rest of the CATS, what could she of done, she should have been able to help somehow, and she would of helped someone, she was sure of it.

Gus had started crying now, reaching the same realization.

This was Luz's fault, she was sure of it. She could've held on longer, she should've held on longer. If she had just held onto those vines just a bit longer, maybe everything would've been ok. Scratch that, of course it would've been ok! Sure there was The Collector, and Luz had no idea how she would of dealt with that, but everyone would still be in the Boiling Isles, and everyone would be ok, because they'd all be there and not here and that was what mattered. They would've still been together, and they would've dealt with it, because that's what they all did. Luz would've helped with anything, could've helped with anything and everything.

Even before that, she could've helped, could of not done things. She shouldn't of given Phi- Belos, those glyphs. She could of simply not, and everything would of been fine. She was sure of it. She shouldn't of gotten anyone in this mess, should've left Amity, Willow, Gus, Hunter, all of them. If she hadn't talked to them at Hexside they would've been fine right? If she hadn't of been too, well, everything in the human realm, she wouldn't of ever been sent away, and she wouldn't of ever gone to the Boiling Isles. That would've stopped the day of unity wouldn't it?

She shouldn't of followed Owlbert-

That thought was shut down immediately. Because although Luz had contributed to so much hurt, and did so much she wished she could take back.

She had done all those things. She couldn't take that back. Because now they were all stuck in the human realm, in the not acidic rain, with no way back to the demon realm.

But there was a house a short walk away that Luz knew quite well.

And so that was where they went.
