Summary:

Touka and Ichika chase the giant red centipedes, crush them, devour them, so that they stop crawling in his ears. Hide turns them into blue light, and silence.

Work Text:

He leaves the marital bed some nights and Touka knows it.

She never says anything, he doesn't deny it. Even without seeing it, Ichika suspects it too, like everyone else.

You can see it as well as the dragon in Tokyo.

He always goes to the same place.

He rings the doorbell, and Hide comes to open his apartment, his room, his blanket.

Kaneki slips in, seeks his body, the hollow of his neck, his bruised flesh.

Hide's arms bring silence and peace (blue centipedes in the dark).

Eat me, he said once.

Kaneki remembers his lips between his teeth.

Notes:

My second attempt at the drabble format, a challenge always renewed as a result of my undying love for endless descriptions, but which I also adore for its synthetic and visceral nature. Kaneki and Hide have long been one of my favorite duos, both as a romantic couple and as friends. They are Montaigne and La Boétie in a modern and slightly gory version.

The chapter where Hide reveals the wounds unintentionally inflicted on his face by Kaneki, as well as his incredibly selfless statement about why he did it ("Because I love him," which opens up an infinite number of possibilities, insert here gratitude and flowers for Sui Ishida and Montaigne's quote about La Boétie "because it was him, because it was me"), have inspired me to write this very short story, to which it is possible that other chapters in the same tone will follow. Add to this my never-ending tenderness for the utterly gorgeous design of the game GRIS and its fourth level, " Blue ", in particular this visual.

Having translated this text from French (my native language) to English, I'm crossing my fingers that it won't have too many mistakes (in which case, don't hesitate to let me know so I can fix them). In any case, I hope you enjoyed this drabble!
