Chapter Text
You felt the unmistakable feeling of thorns digging into your skin as you trudged miserably through wooded Greenland. How the hell did you even find yourself in this situation in the first place??
You've found yourself lost in your hometown's woods. That crazy old man, the one with a tattered coat and reeked of alcohol and tobacco, saw you standing idly on the dirt path, had warned you not to go too deep.
"The demon's will get'cha!" He'd said with a crazed look in his bloodshot eyes. You'd laughed it off at first, blaming his erratic words on the alcohol he smelled so strong of, but he doubled down.
"Believe me, you will! I's seen them with me own two eyes."
Now you wished you'd listened to him when he said don't go too deep; you were looking for something good to take photos of when you'd accidentally ran into a massive spider's web, spider included, and spent the next few minutes running around like a headless chook and trying to get everything off. Now here you are. The sun's starting to set and you can feel the cold chilling down your spine.
"What to do, what to do..." You repeated as you huddled closer into yourself. Your mind is so focused on what to do next that you don't spot the dip ahead of you. You miss a step, lose your footing and trip, managing to catch yourself on your own two feet. You didn't realise how saturated the ground had suddenly gotten until you feel your feet getting wetter and wetter.
What the..?
You feel a sinking feeling in your stomach as you look down at your own two feet. They had sank into the ground, and your legs were quickly following after. The dirt rippled around you as you tried pulling your feet free, but you couldn't move them, and your legs were pulled under as well. It was then you realised what was going on.
Quicksand, and you were sinking fast.
Regardless of what you've been told, you start to panic; wriggling vigorously and reaching out to find something solid you can grab on to, but your efforts are fruitless. The more you struggled to pull yourself free, the quicker you sank, and soon you find yourself neck-deep in quicksand with no way to pull yourself free.
You're exhausted, you're ready to give up and let the elements take you, when you hear a sort-of rattling sound from behind you. Startled by the noise, you try pulling your achy body around to look behind you. You see two pairs of eyes staring right back at you; one pair a crimson red, and the other a bright, baby blue. The rattling sound seeming to echo around you.
You felt your panic increase ten-fold when the eyes formed into two, slithering masses. They were male, with sleek bodices. They were so tall they made your eyes bulge out of their sockets, and their palms were so large they could engulf your entire head! You also noticed that their lower halves, where there were supposed to be human legs were morphed together. Slimy, off-coloured skin shifting into shimmering scales
Oh, oh shit. You started struggling even more when the two creatures advanced closer to you. Again you tried wriggling your legs, again you tried grabbing on to something, and again; nothing worked. You were on the verge of tears from the
stress, your poor heart beat so loudly you're pretty sure the two could hear it, and you could feel yourself beginning to hyperventilate when you looked over and saw the two monsters looming over you through blurred vision.
This. This is how you died.
The monster with the blue eyes reached out to you. You let out a terrified cry and tried to squirm away from the freakishly large hand. But you were rooted in place, so you could only watch with terror as the hand dipped into the murky sand and wrapped itself around your waist and, with a firm tug, you were ripped free from your muddy prison.
You nearly sobbed in relief as the pressure around you was lifted, but that relief was short lived when you were brought closer to their face instead of being gently put down on the ground and let go.
As you were raised higher you got a better look at your saviours/captors. They weren't human, that much you knew, but their long serpent tails that spanned a good 45 feet long made your anxiety spike, and heart beat faster than before.
Oh no, oh shit you're fucking dinner!
You began squirming in the Naga's grip. Gripping at his knuckles, biting his fingers, scratching with your nails, and kicking your feet as hard as you could, anything to try and loosen its grip, but it's only response was to grip you tighter, making you whine in discomfort and stop your fighting.
You trembled in fear as you came face-to-face with the serpent; it's eyes were scanning your smaller figure and the rattling sound became more intense. You couldn't escape, only watch as the creature opened its maw, a slimy red, forked tongue smeared your cheek in bright orange saliva, making you cringe in disgust. The tongue retreated back into the creature's mouth and it let out a loud hiss.
"You..."
This is it, you're gonna be eaten by this creature, you're an easy meal. All because you couldn't watch where you were going. You looked down and closed your
eyes, you didn't want to see how you died.
"You... Poor thing!"
What?
You opened your eyes again, incredulous at the Naga's words. You let out a confused sound as the creature's thumb raised to run over your hair and down your back in a soothing gesture, a sympathetic frown etched in its (his?) Face.
"What..?" You said in a breathy voice, absolutely baffled, weren't you supposed to be in its stomach by now? But he either didn't hear you, or didn't acknowledge what you said as it continued.
"Alone and trapped in icky, sticky mud! Oh you're so cold too; how in the nine realms did you ever get stuck you silly Sunshine?"
By now your tears had dried up and you were left with a hot face and crusty eyes, your trembling had all but stopped and you were left with more questions than you had before.
"I-I don't-"
"Sssstarlight you're freezzzzing..." A voice, raspier and deeper than the one that was talking you, piped up. It made your skin crawl, and you looked around to pinpoint its source. It was the creature with the red eyes, also a Naga around the same size as your rescuer.
While they were both Naga, they also had characteristics you noticed that made them completely different, the first being their colour schemes. While the Naga with blue eyes had a more orange-yellowish colour scheme, his counterpart had a cooler colour scheme; blues, purple with a dash of red for accent.
Another thing you noticed were their goods, the warmer-coloured Naga had a hood that was shaped like the sun, while the cooler-coloured Naga didn't have a hood at all, but a fluffy, blue sleeping cap with tiny yellow stars dotted all over it. You didn't realise you were staring at the two until the grip around your waist tightened for a second and you heard a raspy chuckle.
"Liking what you sssseee~?'
It was then you snapped out of it, the coloured Naga had a mischievous smirk on its face, and the warmer-coloured one was giving his counterpart an annoyed glare. Feeling a little embarassed that you were caught staring, you turned away from them with warm cheeks.
"I didn't mean to..."
"Don't tease them Moonie, it's not nice!" The warmer-coloured Naga huffed, their attention turned back onto you.
"Let's get you inside, and nice and warm."
Before you could say anything else, you were jostled around again in the creature's grip and deposited onto something soft, your arms were held in place and pressure was wrapped around you; swift and quick. It took you a moment to realise that you were being swaddled, and in a blanket no less! You squirmed uncomfortably, trying to loosen the bind before another blanket was wrapped around you.
Where on Earth did they even get blankets from??
"There we go Sunshine! Nice and toasty!"
You wriggled in the swaddle as a response as you were, once again, held in the Naga's grip. You didn't have much of a viewing point as you were pressed tightly against his chest. You had to admit, however, that it was pretty warm and you subtly snuggled closer to the serpent holding you. You closed your eyes, basking in the warmth given to you. The Naga were talking to each other, but you didn't hear what they said as you weren't really paying attention to them. You felt yourself being jostled as the Naga holding you adjusted their grip and you felt them starting to move whatever direction they were moving in.
"Say..." You opened your eyes and looked up at the Naga holding you as he started to speak. "I never got your name, new friend! Mine's Sun, but you can call me Sunny, and that there is my friend Moon, but I call him Moonie, what's yours?"
You told Sun your name with a quiet voice. Sun hummed and, once again, ran his thumb down your back in that same, soothing motion, making you relax just a bit more in his arms.
"What a pretty name for such a pretty little creature!"
You blushed at his words and planted your face back into his chest. Oh god what haveyou gotten yourself into now?
