“I don't like you, either!”
Luffy stuck his tongue out and ran off, leaving Law standing there in a blank, heartbroken shock, as one did when their crush so blatantly told them to their face that they didn't like them.
“Well, you do always avoid him,” said Shachi, Bepo nodding in agreement. “When he greets you in the hall, you don't respond, and your poker face doesn't help at all. He said that after you bumped into him, right? He probably thought you did it on purpose.”
Shachi paused. “Y’know, he really is kinda odd for an alpha, isn't he?” he added as an afterthought. “You’d never think he was an alpha just looking at the way he acts.”
Law groaned and buried his face in his knees. “I know—he’s always so cheery and bright…. I just get so flustered and tongue-tied around him.”
Ikkaku took a huge bite of her burger. “We know you're shy, but he doesn't,” she said around a muffled mouthful. “Why don't you write him a love letter or someth—”
“No, that's embarrassing, and he’ll just reject me!”
Law had never harbored hopes for Luffy returning his feelings, being the way he was, but he felt devastated knowing Luffy disliked him.
He didn't have much confidence in being able to do anything about it, though.
Ideas whirled around his mind as he tried to figure out what to do, what he wanted, and then—
Oh.
If it was anonymous….
Luffy wouldn't know it was him, of course, but this was the best Law could do for now—he’d feel better knowing he’d done something to make Luffy smile even if Luffy continued to think poorly of him.
And that was how Law’s daily gifts started.
He made sure to get to the classroom for Luffy's education class early so he wouldn't be seen, and left some candies and a sunflower in Luffy's desk before leaving.
It was the perfect setup. There was a computer lab right next door to the classroom, separated by a glass wall, so Law would be able to discreetly see Luffy's reaction from where he studied in the lab, and the classroom was a small one instead of a lecture hall, which was why it had actual desks in which one could store papers and whatnot inside.
He settled down at a computer, nervous and fidgety, and his heart threatened to jump out his throat when he watched Luffy sit down at the desk and pull out the flower and candies.
Luffy's look of surprise quickly changed into one of utter delight, making the butterflies in Law’s stomach flutter to the point he had to look away from sheer happiness, only to look back again, curious. Luffy seemed to be asking his classmates if they were the ones who’d left the candies and the flower, judging by the way they all shook their heads, and then Luffy sat back down, perplexed, unwrapping a candy when he happened to look up and lock eyes with L—
Law quickly glanced away and pretended to study, heart pounding at what felt like a million miles a minute.
That's what he got for staring too much.
He restrained himself from looking at Luffy for the rest of that class period and tried to study, though he couldn't help but think about what to give Luffy next.
And so it went on, the daily gifts. Candies, flowers, chocolates, jerky—since Luffy loved meat—until Law saw a note left for him in the desk a week later.
He looked around the room, only calming down when he saw no one was there, and read the note once he was safe in his seat in the computer lab.
‘To whoever keeps leaving goodies behind, you’re forgetting a lotta yummy stuff y’know! & flowers too! Don't forget to bring them with you this time!’
Law blinked.
Luffy thought someone in an earlier class was forgetting the goodies by accident?
He scribbled down a short reply.
‘They’re gifts for you.’
After checking the time and making sure there was still a good chunk of time before Luffy's class, he hurried back into the classroom to leave the note in the desk, checking to ensure no one in the lab noticed him either.
He peeked at Luffy when the class was about to start—Luffy had seemed shocked upon reading his reply, and then had gotten to work writing something else down, and that was how they began exchanging notes three times a week, with Luffy chatting about this and that as their replies grew longer.
One day, Luffy finally asked who he was, though it was more of an afterthought—Luffy wanted to meet up instead since their replies were getting long.
Law froze, and his stomach churned.
On one hand, he was over the moon being able to get to know Law better through their notes, but on the other hand, he knew them meeting up wouldn’t turn out well.
So there was only one reply he could give to Luffy’s question.
‘Sorry, I don’t think that’s a good idea; I wouldn’t be able to talk at all. I’m very shy.’
He could barely sleep the following two nights before Luffy’s next class, thinking things like what if Luffy thought he was weird, or that it was just an excuse to not meet up, or didn’t want to exchange notes anymore?
Law had needlessly worried, though, because Luffy didn’t seem to mind at all—he’d even written that he could just talk for the both of them.
A relieved smile crossed Law’s face, until he read the last two sentences Luffy wrote.
‘By the way, do you like me? My friends said that you wouldn’t give me gifts unless you were in love with me.’
Law pondered what to reply for a little too long, his clothes feeling a little too warm as he bit his lip.
Eventually, he came to a conclusion—even if Luffy rejected him now, Law was still anonymous. At least Luffy wouldn’t know who he was.
He left the note just minutes before the professor walked in with a single line.
‘Yes, I’m in love with you.’

This time, Law went back into the classroom after Luffy’s class had ended, too anxious about Luffy’s response.
There was no reply.
Law’s heart plummeted and broke, each shard stabbing him as tears welled up in his eyes, a few landing on the paper.
It wasn’t a rejection, but somehow it hurt, the blank paper, and Law felt embarrassed—he shouldn’t have said anything.
He knew Luffy wouldn’t just readily accept—Law wouldn’t either, not with a stranger who he’d been exchanging notes with for only a few weeks.
But still…. He just felt a bit foolish was all.
Arms looped around his neck from behind, and Law nearly jumped out of his skin, almost falling out of the chair if it weren’t for those arms around him.
“Hm? Why’re you crying, Torao?”
Law looked up to see none other than Luffy, the latter’s face right above his, and Law’s usual poker face flushed a scarlet red.
He stammered, even more tongue-tied than he normally was.
And then Luffy kissed his tears right off his face, licking them up like they were water, and as if Law needed to be even more embarrassed, a small horrendous sort of squeak left his throat at the suddenness and intimacy of it all.
Luffy paused in surprise, then grinned affectionately down at Law. “Why’re you crying, Torao?” he repeated. “I just went to get you a goody since you’ve been giving me so many.”
“W—Wha—?”
A packaged cream bread plopped into Law’s hands.
“You like sweet stuff, right?” asked Luffy. “You always give me candy and chocolate.”
Law fidgeted, legs rubbing together—the way Luffy's scent seemed to be surrounding him made him want to do things he really shouldn't do.
“You should eat it now!” Luffy told him, pulling out his own meat bun and taking a big bite out of it. “It’s hot out of the oven!”
“Oh, um….”
Luffy was looking at him with such expectant, sparkling eyes that Law couldn't bring himself to tell the other that while he did like sweets, he hated bread.
Hesitantly taking the warm bread out of the package, Law stared down at it, trying to hide his inner disgust.
Luffy surely wouldn't watch him eat the entire thing, right? He probably just wanted to see Law’s reaction to the first bite, right?
Law’s solution was to take a small bite of only the cream, and not the bread, which was quite delicious really, so it was with a small hum that he took another lick of cream.
“...Oi, are you doing that on purpose?”
Law looked up with a start—Luffy was still watching him eat?
And then Luffy leaned over and licked the corner of Law’s lips, and Law froze, fingers digging into his bread.
“A-Ah, erm—” Law’s cheeks heated. Eyes wide and shocked, he hesitantly brushed his fingers against his lips. “My first kiss…,” he whispered to himself, barely audible.
He was too stunned to notice that Luffy’s scent had only grown stronger when he'd been eating the cream, eyes darkening with each small lick Law had taken, and now, now, Luffy’s eyes glittered black with desire.
“That’s not a kiss, Torao.”
Law blinked, and this time his cheeks heated from embarrassment, disappointment sinking in his stomach. “O-Oh. Sorr—”
“This is.”
Hot breath and searing lips covered Law’s, and he moaned as Luffy’s tongue swept through his mouth, stealing away his senses. Dazed, he chased Luffy’s lips even when Luffy finally pulled back, arms looping around Luffy's neck, and it was with a surprised laugh that broke Law out of his haze that Luffy obliged and ravished Law’s mouth even more thoroughly this time, leaving Law a panting, moaning, dripping mess.
“How much are you leaking?” murmured Luffy, not expecting an answer. “I can smell it.”
Law looked up at him with an extremely flustered expression. “...A lot. I think my pants are soaked now.”
A growl rumbled in Luffy's throat, and the sound went straight to Law’s cock, his hole slicking itself even more. “Let’s take those pants off then,” said Luffy, eyes setting Law’s skin on fire. “They won't dry with you wearing them, right?”
“B-But— There are people—”
“Barely any.” Luffy glanced at the computer lab. “Hm, but you’re right—only I get to see what a mess I’ll make of you.”
A shiver shot down Law’s spine, and he barely repressed a whimper.
“Take your clothes off,” whispered Luffy as ran up to the front of the classroom, seemingly pressing a button on the podium.
Shades rolled down the glass wall.
Luffy walked back to Law only to pause in surprise and desire—fully undressed, Law sat on his desk waiting for him, toned body on display and arm resting on a propped up leg.
Not for the first time, Luffy couldn't help but wonder whether Law was being so sexy on purpose, those swirling tattoos practically begging for Luffy’s attention, but he quickly dismissed the thought—the same innocently affectionate look on Law’s flushed face as before told otherwise.
“You’re really interesting, you know that?” said Luffy as he approached.
Law gave him a puzzled sort of look. “Me? I-I think you’re more interesting, though.”
Luffy pulled Law closer, standing in between Law’s legs. “You can be pretty bold for someone who’s shy.”
“W-Wha—”
“Did you forget?” Luffy trailed kisses down Law’s neck. “You said you wouldn't be able to say a single word if we met up, but look at you now, naked and wet for me.”
Law whimpered at Luffy’s words, and he couldn't help but tremble, blood simmering as more slick leaked out of him. “I, I—this is different.” He gasped as Luffy sucked and nipped at his skin, leaving hickies behind. “Lu-ya—”
“What do you want, Torao?”
Law blinked, staring as Luffy took off his shirt to reveal a fit, lithe body. “H-Huh?”
Luffy unzipped his pants. “What do you want to do? I want to hear you say it.”
“Ah, um….” Panic rose within Law as his mind whirled with what to say and how to word it, worried that Luffy wouldn't want to go further if he didn't say anything, but still, the jumble of words in his mind got caught in his throat—
Luffy kissed him with a smile and a laugh. “I can see you panicking. Is it too much for you? I just wanted to hear your voice.”
Law relished the kiss and the smile, warmth suffusing his body, and he couldn't help but wonder why Luffy was being so kind to him. He wanted to say something, anything, to show that he did like Luffy, that he hadn't avoided and ignored Luffy on purpose all this time, that he wanted him, but the words wouldn't come through, like they were lodged in his chest.
Luffy ran his hands down Law’s body, down to Law’s legs, and he spread them as he rubbed Law’s dripping hole, all while his lips and tongue worshipped the swirling ink on Law's chest.
Something burst inside Law seeing Luffy touch him, kiss him, as if Luffy wanted him, and if steam could blow out of his ears, it would have when the words lodged in his chest blurted out.
“I love you.”
There was a moment of utter silence and stillness as Luffy froze, looking up at Law in shock, while Law stared back down at him in a similar state of shock at what he’d just blurted, face visibly flushing even redder.
Law covered his burning face with his arms, mortified.
Luffy crooked a finger inside Law’s hole, rubbing his prostate, and Law’s arms flew to grab the edge of the desk for support as loud whimpering moans fell from his lips unbidden.
Law’s back arched as Luffy continued to rub his prostate, unable to restrain the needy noises of pleasure he made despite how embarrassing they were.
“That’s more like it,” said Luffy with a grin. “I want to see you, hear you.” He paused, then laughed. “Shishishi, Torao's so cute. I thought you were going to answer my question, but instead you finally confessed.”
Law tried to recall Luffy's original question in his hazy state of mind—ah, Luffy had asked him what he wanted.
“S-Sorry,” moaned Law, somewhat mortified once again. “‘m sorr—”
He cut off on a sharp gasp and a whimper as Luffy's lips covered a nipple, fingers still teasing Law’s prostate, and Law nearly came then and there, overwhelmed.
Luffy had other plans, however.
He withdrew his fingers just before Law was about to come and replaced them with his cock, and this time Law's arms flew to loop around Luffy's neck, hanging onto him for dear life as his eyes rolled back just from the searingly hot sensation of Luffy's cock slowly filling him up.
“Now you can come,” murmured Luffy just before he bottomed out, a smile in his voice. “Come on my cock, Torao.”
Law’s breath hitched. He couldn't help it—his hole spasmed around Law’s cock as his body stiffened and trembled in Luffy's arms, and Luffy teased even more shameless noises out of Law just with a flick of his fingers on Law’s nipples, and somehow the fact that Luffy was just standing there watching him fall apart on his cock just turned Law on even more despite his embarrassment.
Luffy finally began to move just as the aftershocks of Law’s orgasm were about to fade. He thrust relentlessly hard and deep into Law, who couldn't do anything but cling on and moan as Luffy pounded his hole, driving him crazy.
And Luffy hummed.
It sent Law over the edge beyond belief, overwhelming him.
It wasn't humming like humming to a tune, but rather a deep hum from the throat of satisfied pleasure every time Law didn't restrain a noise, every time Law didn't restrain a nonsensical bliss-filled babble, as if encouraging Law to express himself, to just let it all come out, and Law grew addicted to the sound of those hums, the feeling of those vibrations against him.
“L-Lu-ya, can't—too good—” babbled Law deliriously as he neared his third orgasm, Luffy having continued fucking him during his second one. “T-Together—”
Luffy hummed, and Law's hole clenched on a shudder.
“Torao's so cute I don't want this to end just yet,” murmured Luffy, jaw clenched. “Together next time, okay? Come for me now, Torao.”
And Law did, as if on command, wanton sounds streaming from his lips as his eyes rolled back and tongue lolled out just the slightest. Any embarrassment he’d felt had long faded, his mind now just a delicious blur of Luffy, Luffy, and more Luffy, and Luffy groaned seeing Law’s fucked out expression, thrusting into him even harder, right against his prostate.
Law nearly screamed. His nails left marks on Luffy's back as the pleasure within him built up almost terrifyingly fast, to the point that he desperately chanted Luffy’s name with every thrust along with words he wasn't aware of.
“Lu-ya, love you, love you, love y—”
It was with that that they both finally tipped over the peak together, Luffy's cum pouring hot and filling deep into Law's hole while Law’s spent cock barely released anything, and they slumped down together onto the desk, arms still around each other.
Until Luffy's stomach let out a loud grumble.
“Wanna get dinner?” asked Luffy, finally standing up. He stretched as he picked up their clothes. “My friends and I are gonna eat at the Baratie.”
Law blinked. “Oh, um….” Pink tinged his cheeks as he fidgeted with his hands, touched and surprised that Luffy was inviting him.
But Law knew he'd just clam up, especially around Luffy's friends, and he wanted to make a good first impression, especially considering they’d probably all thought Law disliked Luffy this whole time.
And he wanted to make a good impression on Luffy, too—if he clammed up, only speaking a little when Luffy patiently asked him questions or coaxed words out of him, wouldn't Luffy get tired of being around him?
That was Law’s thought process, anyway.
Maybe when he could at least talk to Luffy a little better he’d go, he thought to himself.
“Sorry, I’m, um, busy,” said Law. “N-Next time, maybe…? If you still want to,” he hurriedly added.
Luffy helped a flustered Law wear his shirt. “Busy? With what?”
Law panicked for a second—he hadn't thought that far. “Uh, um, studying,” he blurted out, immediately regretting it; he sounded so lame using that as an excuse.
Luffy didn't push the topic, waving a cheery bye after making sure Law was alright and didn't need help walking back—Law didn't think his heart could handle having Luffy walk him home.
More than that, though, he wondered what Luffy thought of him. He’d never imagined anything like this happening—except maybe in his wildest dreams—and he couldn't help but feel elated that Luffy found him attractive at the very least.
And interesting.
Luffy had said he was interesting, hadn't he? Although Law wasn't quite sure what Luffy was talking about, to be honest.
He wondered what to do next that night—he was planning on leaving a small bag of heart-shaped chocolates and a note in Luffy's desk again, but he wasn't sure if that was too much, not to mention he didn't know what to write.
If he asked for Luffy's phone number….
No, that was too much. Law didn't want to come off as pushy or clingy, after all, and make Luffy uncomfortable.
Maybe just a simple ‘do you want to keep writing to each other?’ would be best. And normal chocolates, not heart-shaped ones.
Satisfied, Law barely managed to fall into a restless sleep that night and the next, heart pounding and nervous for what Luffy's response would be.
Law arrived at the classroom suitably early the next day, as usual, and left his bag of chocolates and note before leaving and sitting on a bench outside. Now that Luffy knew who he was, it was simply too embarrassing to sit in the computer lab as he’d done before—Luffy would definitely spot him.
He pulled out a cream bread he’d bought on his way to Luffy's classroom. They’d been growing on him, honestly. The cream part was just delicious. He still thought bread was disgusting, obviously, though he felt bad for not eating it, so he’d taken to tearing a portion of the bread into small pieces and feeding it to the birds here while he enjoyed the cream—it wasn't good to feed birds too much bread.
Most of all, it reminded him of Luffy, and his heart filled with joy every time he ate it, though sometimes it also reminded him of things that made his face flush red.
So there he sat feeding the birds as he ate the cream, waiting for Luffy’s class to pass—it’d started by now. Some cream got on his fingers as he tore off tiny pieces for the chirping birds, so he was licking them off when—
“Please tell me you don't eat like that in front of other people.”
Law startled, and immediately jumped up, eyes wide and the tip of his finger still in his mouth.
“L-Lu-ya? Wha— But class—”
The birds around Law barely moved, used to people.
“Here.” Luffy handed him what looked like a small rose bouquet, but…. “They're chocolate. Try one.”
Law blinked, then nibbled at one, mind completely at a loss in terms of processing what was happening at the moment. He let out a surprised “oh!” and his golden eyes sparkled in delight.
“Raspberry!” exclaimed Law, a small happy smile dancing on his lips. “My favorite!”
Luffy's eyes widened, and then he leaned over and kissed Law on the lips while snatching the cream bread before taking a big bite out of the bread part, all in the blink of an eye.
Law just stood there, dazed and uncomprehending.
“I’ve been looking for you. I thought you'd be in the computer lab like usual.”
Law froze. “Wha— You mean, you— you noticed?”
“That you were the one leaving me gifts? I knew from the start,” Luffy told him with a smile. “You kept looking at me and blushing, just like that,” he said, gesturing at Law's beet red face. "You're pretty obvious, honestly. I don't know how I ever thought you disliked me."
Law just sort of stared at him, so embarrassed he didn't know what to say.
“And I heard from your friends that you hate bread,” continued Luffy, “so what are you doing? Did you buy this just to feed the birds?”
Law didn't think he could burn up any further into flames. “No, it’s because— because it reminds me…of you….” He stared down at the chocolate flowers, flustered that he’d been caught red-handed in pretty much everything. “And the cream is yummy….”
Luffy kissed him again. “Let’s go. Do you like bowling? There's a bowling alley nearby.”
“U-Um, what’s—what’s going on?” asked Law at last, unsure if it was okay for him to get his hopes up. “Wha—”
“A date,” was Luffy’s matter-of-fact reply, as if it was obvious. “You’re free, right?”
Law blinked, eyes wide, and a shy but happy smile spread across his face. “Mhm.”
Luffy grabbed Law’s hand, pulling him close, before kissing him deeper this time, humming in contentment. “Bowling?”
Law nodded.
They took their time walking to the bowling alley on the other side of campus, holding hands all the while as Luffy chatted about this and that to Law.
“Oh, I forgot.” Luffy paused. “I love you too, Torao,” he said with a beaming grin. “I was gonna say it when I gave you the flowers, but you took me off guard.”
Law wasn’t sure what Luffy was referring to, but he kissed Luffy this time in a brief moment of utter joy. “Thank you...for the flowers,” said Law quietly with pink cheeks. “I really like them.”
Luffy just hummed, and replied, “You’re cute,” to which Law flushed—something he seemed to be perpetually doing around Luffy.
“But maybe let’s not eat with my friends for now,” said Luffy. “Or your friends.”
Law blinked, confused. “H-How come?”
Luffy looked at Law’s clueless expression and sighed. “Like I can let anyone else see you eat like that,” he muttered.
