Love was something of a complicated feeling and Shion knew that.
Back when she was a child, one of her classmates had kissed her on the cheek and she wondered if that warmth that spread to her cheeks after meant that she liked her. She thought about it all day and when it was time to head back home she realized that no, she didn’t really feel some type of way towards her classmate.
With time she was sure that she would find out when she was in love, however after many years nothing much had happened in the love department. She had casual crushes and she had been asked out by a couple of people, but in the end she had yet to experience the love that everyone would talk about.
Before she could even blink she was already an adult and she had joined an idol company called Hololive and now, almost two years into being a vtuber, things were going great for her.
And then came that night.
A sleepover collab with none other than Houshou Marine, her kouhai and friend. She didn’t think much of the collab plan at first, thinking it was just going to be a fun night followed the next day by a stream together. Things didn’t go that way.
When Marine came over to her place they had spent some time together just relaxing and messing around with eachother. The night was going well until Marine asked a question out of nowhere.
“Have you ever had sex?” Shion was surprised and quite embarrassed by the question, looking at Marine sitting right next to her on the couch and studying her expression.
“Why are you asking?”
“Well, that already answers my question since you have avoided answering Shion.” The witch’s eye twitched at the sentence, knowing that Marine had probably figured out that she was a virgin. “Whatever, can you tell me why you are suddenly talking about my sex life?” A moment of silence followed as the pirate glanced at her senpai.
“I guess I am just curious about you.”
Only after that sentence did Shion notice how close the two actually were. Marine’s eyes were not leaving Shion’s and there was a sort of suspense, as if the pirate was waiting for something- anything. The witch couldn’t stop the tiny blush appearing on her face and it seemed like that reaction was what Marine was looking for. A hand was placed on Shion’s cheek and Marine watched how the witch seemed to melt in the palm of her hand.
Slowly her lips inched closer to Shion’s face and a kiss was planted, making the two girls sigh softly with how warm and sugary it was.
Marine moved away only a couple of seconds after and both girls looked somewhat confused by what had just happened. Shion wanted to ask Marine why she had just kissed her, but the warmth of the kiss started spreading all around her body.
Shion brought her lips to meet once again with Marine’s, leaving the pirate wide-eyed with surprise before she gave in and started making out.
After five solid minutes of just heated kisses and tongues occasionally meeting, Shion separated from Marine as they both breathed heavily. “Can I suck your boobs?” It was Marine’s turn to be shocked by Shion’s question, the night turning into something unexpected for both girls. The witch wasn’t sure about what took over her to even ask such a thing, but it was like her brain wasn’t thinking logically.
She didn’t need to hear an answer as Marine took her hand with a small smile and brought her to Shion’s bedroom and, that same night, Shion lost her virginity. Soon after they were laying on the bed, simply cuddling after such an intense experience when Marine glanced back at Shion’s face.
“Wanna date?”
Another surprise question that left the witch blushing, yet there was something different this time: Shion didn’t really think a question like this would be asked by Marine; sure, they were friends but she had never imagined someone like her to say anything like that. Shion didn’t know what to reply at first, noticing that Marine was looking at her in a rather gentle way. It made her stomach flutter and she didn’t know why that was happening.
Yet Shion found herself leaning closer to Marine, resting her head on the pirate’s chest as her arm wrapped around the other girl’s torso.
This weird and unique way of asking Shion to become her girlfriend and it was totally different from the love confessions that the witch had watched on TV: there was no grand explosion of fireworks after words of love where spoken, Marine didn’t seem incredibly nervous about confessing and everything felt much more quiet and simple.
“Sure.” The answer came in a mumble as Shion gave one last glance to Marine before closing her eyes and yawning softly.
After the reply, Marine didn’t say anything as she simply smiled and held the smaller girl in her arms. The night soon took over them and sleep caught up, lulled by their warm embrace.
The next day, Shion was woken up by a phone call.
Apparently they had overslept for 4 hours and the hashtag #OldHagsWakingUp had ended up trending world-wide thanks to their friend Fubuki. The sleepiness disappeared as Shion hurried to wake up Marine and, in a matter of 10 minutes, the two girls had started an apology stream for their fans over the accident. However things got slightly problematic when Marine almost mentioned what had happened the previous night between them.
Shion managed to shut her up and even if the fans were left wondering on what happened, no one but the two involved knew the truth.
When the collab ended, Marine grabbed her things and left Shion’s place as she had to take care of a couple of things for another stream she had planned. When the pirate was out of the apartment and the door was closed, Shion wondered what she had gotten herself into.
‘I should’ve thought more about this…’ she paced around the living room for a minute, thinking at the previous night and how she had acted before switching to Marine. She couldn’t stop remembering the way her hands had caressed her body, the kisses that were both a tease and a blessing and the taste of Marine’s skin as she slowly and carefully moved from her neck to her- ‘Get yourself together Shion! This is not the time to think about that.’ The witch scolded herself, sitting on the couch and remembering that she accepted dating Marine.
She had never officially dated anyone, only going on a couple of dates in her life that weren’t treated seriously. ‘Why did I even accept??’ The question kept repeating in Shion’s head but the answer never came as she was only able to remember how much of a good time they had the night before.
Their relationship of Senpai and Kouhai had changed now and Shion wasn’t sure on what she was supposed to do.
That was a week ago.
Her schedule had been busy with work and, no matter how much she worried about her newfound relationship with Marine, nothing had happened yet between the two girls. This worried the witch, wondering if maybe she had misinterpreted what Marine had told her.
The witch was currently sitting at her desk as she prepared a schedule for the upcoming week. She was about to send a message to her manager when she heard the sound of a discord notification, causing her to stop and check what it was. “Marine…?” Reading the name Shion felt herself grow nervous, clicking on the chat that had been quiet for almost 8 days.
Marine, Today, 02.14 pm. “Shiooon, do you want to hang out this weekend?”
Shion felt a mixture of anxiety and excitement take over her, wondering what she should reply. She didn’t mind the idea of hanging out with the pirate girl, but she was worried about how to act now. It took her a couple of minutes to come up with a reply, re-reading it over and over to make sure it was good before clicking the ‘send’ button.
Shion, Today, 02.17 pm. “Hey Marine, I am free! Where did you want to go?”
Marine, Today, 02.19 pm. “How about the arcade this sunday?”
Shion, Today, 02.20 pm. “Sounds nice!”
Marine, Today, 02.22 pm. “It’s a date then, see you this weekend!” the final message was concluded with an emote of Marine smiling with a couple of hearts surrounding her.
The witch didn’t know why but the word date now felt somewhat heavier. Dates had never been that special to Shion in the past, but now she was going to one with Marine: the girl who had taken her virginity and had become her first girlfriend in just one night.
With a click of her mouse, Shion momentarily reduced discord to an icon as her head rested against the gaming chair she was sitting on. The date was going to happen in just a couple of days and Shion couldn’t deny that she was slightly worried about what to do. Now that she was thinking about it, she didn’t really know much about Marine and this made her even more nervous.
“Wait, let me make a list of things I know!” The witch grabbed a pen and paper and started writing down a bunch of information that she knew.
She knew that Marine was her kouhai, an incredibly talented artist, a wonderful singer, not good with physical activities but with surprisingly big amounts of stamina when it came to ‘nightly activies’. “What else…” Shion tried to think of more things that she knew, but nothing much came from it and the witch stared at the piece of paper with a rather disappointed look on her face.
She knew so little about Marine that it was like she had known her only for a couple days only. Doubts started flooding her mind and she wondered why would someone like Marine even want to date her, but the pirate was far more caring and maybe she knew more about Shion than the witch knew about her.
“I should try to get to know her more…” Discord was opened again and Shion started searching for a specific person.
Shion, Today, 02.33 pm. “Hey, I wanted to ask you something… do you have the time to meet in person for a coffee so we can chat? If you are busy it’s fine.”
The message was sent and Shion simply waited. The invite was for the next day and with how busy everyone was maybe she would simply receive a no for an answer. Surprisingly, however, a reply arrived in a matter of 15 minutes. Shion smiled while typing out a reply with the place and time for the meeting, thanking her friend for the help.
She wanted to know more about Marine but she knew that if she asked anyone for help there could be problems that came with it. Shion hadn’t told anyone about what happened with Marine on the night of the collab and since no one had come to her to ask anything, she believed that the pirate had also kept quiet. If she had to ask for help, she needed to talk with someone who was able to keep even the biggest secrets and that knew Marine like the back of her hand.
As much as she was worried about saying the truth about that fateful night, she was far more preoccupied about finding out more about Marine.
It was still hard for her to believe that they were actually dating, even if they had formalized everything in a bed with just a simple ‘sure’ and didn’t really discuss about it afterward or the week after. It was different from what Shion had imagined but somewhat she didn’t really mind it.
“Hopefully she can help me…”
