Work Text:

I shouldn’t be in this sort of state. This is what Miles Edgeworth thought as he was crumpled on the shower floor. Tears were mixed with the warm drops of water from overhead, as he sat curled up. I’m so pathetic. He remained silently weeping, repeating the phrase, “I’m fine”, over and over again, until it became background noise to him.
Unknowing to him, he had begun to speak louder, alerting his husband, who was doing mindless tasks on the computer. He quickly got up, his only concern going to find out what was wrong.
“I’m fine, I’m fine, I’m fine”. It was slightly muffled behind the bathroom door.
He knocked. It stopped.
“Uh, um, yes?”. Miles slightly jumped, now beginning to stand up.
“Are you okay?”.
“…I don’t know”. Miles’ voice was almost a whisper.
“If you want, we could talk about it after you finish? Or we could watch some Steel Samurai reruns and cuddle or something?”.
“...Mhm. Thank you…just give me a moment. Sorry”.
“You don’t need to apologize for anything, Miles”.
“Ah yes, sorry- um. Thank you again”.
“Of course. Take your time. I’ll just be hanging out on the bed”. Phoenix remained at the door for a bit, before turning around to sit on his side of the bed.
Miles took a deep breath and finished up his shower. He opened the bathroom door and saw Phoenix laying down, reading some random book.
He sat up, noticing Miles was done, and went criss crossed on the bed. “Hey”, he smiled.
“...Hello”. Miles smiled back slightly. He made his way over to the bed and sat on his side.
“So…would you feel comfortable talking about what was going on? If not, that’s perfectly fine. I’m always here for you”, Phoenix spoke, placing his hand lightly on Miles’ arm.
“Ah, um, it wasn’t anything too big”.
Phoenix stared at him for a moment.
“What?”, Miles questioned, confused.
“Miles…you were having a breakdown in the shower. I don’t think that’s something you should toss aside. Your feelings matter”.
“I…thank you”. Miles laughed slightly. “It’s just, I normally bottle everything up to the point where there is this massive breakdown. It usually occurs in the shower, since I don’t have anyone to bother in there…”.
“You’re not a bother”.
“Ah…”.
“It’s the truth. If you need evidence, I’m more than willing to oblige”.
Miles smiled again. “The prosecution takes you up on that offer”.
“Well…first thing first. I love you”.
Miles couldn’t hide his smile, and turned away slightly, red coating his face.
“It seems that provided a reaction from the prosecution”, Phoenix laughed.
“Shut up, Wright”.
“Last names now, Edgeworth?”.
“Psh-”, Miles whispered.
“Hm…okay, evidence, let’s see…I care about you and your problems. Little or small”.
Miles continued to look away, still flustered from before.
“Does that suffice, or does the court request more-”. Phoenix was cut off from Miles pulling him into a tight hug.
Although Miles saw it as childish, he held on as if he would never hold this man in his arms again. “God. How can I be so lucky to have been graced with you in my life”, Miles whispered, tears forming in his eyes.
“Miles…”. Phoenix hugged back, equally as tight, as if this was a final embrace.
“I love you, so, so much. It’s indescribable”, Miles spoke softly.
“I love you too, Miles. And if you need any evidence for that…”, Phoenix chuckled, pulling Miles’ face to him. “I have more than enough to provide”, he spoke, before kissing Miles all over his face. His cheeks, lips, forehead.
Miles grew redder with each kiss.
After Phoenix had finished, Miles quickly pecked Phoenix on the cheek. “...the prosecution accepts this evidence”, blush still coating his entire face.
