Chapter Text
Today was just like every other day for Gregory, a day of dread and misery. Gregory sees the same people crowding around telephone poles staring at missing people posters stapled on them, the same people sitting down on benches reading the bitter articles of the newspaper "Local Residents Continue To Disappear" the same ominous cloud of unease still looms over many residents of Hurricane Utah.
"Same as always." Gregory huffed as he continued to walk back to the place he calls "home" with an empty stomach. Living a life as a homeless kid is brutal for Gregory; going dumpster diving for food, scrounging for money, stealing from others, and always moving from place to place. Even though it's a life no child deserves to have, it's just the cruel hand that life had dealt Gregory; however, things got a little better after finding an old building to stay in. The building he found had graffiti scribbled all over its brick walls, a broken fire escape dangling from the left side of the building, and a few patches of moss growing on the roof.
When the scrawny child returned to his "home," he crawled through the small opening on the right side of the building and entered his "room." The interior of the building didn't have much other than some chipped bricks on the wall, cracked windows that were very dirty and allowed little sunlight to shine through, a water-damaged ceiling that had a few tiles missing, a small shower with running water, a container which was used to wash clothes, a big piece of used bubble wrap to sleep on, and the very few belongings Gregory had.
He kept what little clothing he had inside a broken wardrobe, a tiny bar of soap, one brown band-aid, some loose change he gathered the other day, a pair of rusty scissors, and a roll of tape that he used to patch holes in his shoes. These living conditions are nowhere near perfect for a child, but compared to sleeping in a rat-infested alley or a soggy cardboard box, Gregory was just grateful to have a stable roof over his head.
Gregory slumped against the brick wall and slowly slid down; once he reached the bottom, Gregory sighed deeply. "I should have known the dumpster behind the Abbot Street diner would be empty." Gregory placed both hands on his growling stomach to try and make it stop; while he was doing that, he began to hear intrusive thoughts ring inside his head. "Good for nothing wretch," "mistake," "waste of space," "unwanted parasite," he heard those hurtful remarks daily from the people he once shared a living space with. These thoughts stopped when Gregory noticed a new hole in his right shoe and the sole of his left shoe coming loose.
"Oh, come on!" The small child groaned; he got up and walked to the broken wardrobe; once he opened it, he took out the roll of tape and tore off two pieces. He placed one piece on the sole of his left shoe to keep it from falling off and the second piece on the insole of his right shoe. Gregory then noticed a long piece of his hair getting in his face and felt the band-aid on his right cheek becoming loose, so he placed the tape roll back into the wardrobe and took out the scissors; he walked to one of the cracked windows to see his reflection on the filthy glass. Once he could see his face, he used one hand to hold the piece of brown hair in place and cut it with the scissors; he placed them down and used his free hand to press the loose band-aid back into place; Gregory didn't want to use his last band-aid to cover up the scratch on his right cheek.
Once those problems were resolved, Gregory walked to his bubble wrap sheet to lie down. He turned over and looked at the newspapers he uses as blankets; a lot of them talked about a series of attacks and disappearances that were occurring in Hurricane Utah; most of them happened near Fazbear Entertainment's newest location "Freddy Fazbear's Mega Pizzaplex" he didn't pay too much attention to them, but the one he directed his gaze to was different. "Fazbear Freak Strikes Again! Programming Prodigy of Freddy Fazbear's Mega Pizzaplex Brutally Attacked" Gregory remembers reading what happened when the article was released a few days ago. "Freddy Fazbear's Mega Pizzaplex employee Sarah Brooks the "programming prodigy," falls victim to mysterious Fazbear freak." The beloved programmer suffered multiple stab wounds and was left in critical condition". Gregory knew Sarah; she was one of the few people who showed him kindness, something he hadn't received in a long time.
"You'll be ok, Sarah. I know you'll come back." Gregory thought to himself; he'll never forget sneaking into the hospital to see her; he'll never forget the words he overheard the doctors say "her outcome is uncertain." The small child was shaken out of his thoughts by the sound of his growling stomach. He sat up and looked at a picture of the Pizzaplex; Gregory had heard people say that Freddy Fazbear's Mega Pizzaplex is the most famous establishment Fazbear Entertainment opened since the company's very first attraction; however, in light of recent events, people have been saying more bad things about it than good, but that isn't enough to stop some kids from going to the Mega Pizzaplex to see their main attraction the "Glamrock Animatronics." Gregory dreamed of meeting them; he longed to go to the Pizzaplex and have fun with other kids, he wanted to feel like a normal kid instead of a burden with no home, but the disappearances lingered in the back of his head. His mind was saying one thing while his stomach was saying another; after listening to the growls of his empty stomach growing louder and louder, he made up his mind.
"Alright, alright, I hear you," Gregory said. He walked to the wardrobe and took out the best clothes; he had a blue t-shirt with a pale blue collar, two white stripes, and a pair of tan cargo shorts. He put them on and took his last band-aid and all his quarters. Gregory thought about checking to see if the other dumpsters he knew about had food, but with his luck, they were probably empty; plus, eating at a large entertainment complex is ten times better than digging through garbage in search of scraps. Once ready, he crawled outside the building and began walking to Freddy Fazbear's Mega Pizzaplex.
