Two months ago…
"Alpha Team, approach the storage container" the general commands through the com as they watch what is happening through the screen.
A mysterious storage container had been dropped off in the port and the military had been called to validate if the content of the storage container could be harmful. The president has called their allies and other countries to affirm who had dropped off the storage container in their port, but all have denied.
"Alpha Team, use the means to open the storage container... it could explode so tread carefully" she says and they all wait for the storage container to be opened. When it is opened, the Alpha Team could be seen recoiling away through the drone following above them.
"Alpha Team, what is it?" the general asks with a frown, "ma'am, it smells like… like rotting corpses" the leader of the team says as he reaches out for his flashlight but all of them immediately raise their guns as soon as they hear a sound from the deep depths of the storage container.
She watches as they get ready for the upcoming attack before her eyes widen as they start to cock their guns shooting at whatever was approaching and he drops the mug in his hand.
The people behind her were exclaiming in horror and distress as blood spread throughout as the figures that attacked eat the face of the leader, the drone gives them a view of the team trying to kill them as they bite them.
"What the fuck is happening?" One of them asks standing up from where he was seated and the general remains frozen as they watch before the camera that was attached to one of the members of the Alpha team turns off after she was bitten in the neck. The drone is lowered slowly to see if any of the team are still alive since the members of the Alpha team have all fallen to the ground.
One of the members starts shaking violently and it opens its mouth wide before violently attacking the drone.
Lan Xichen wakes up to his phone ringing in the middle of the night, "I cannot catch a break" he groans as he picks it up rubbing his eyes.
"What is it?" He asks, sighing since he notices the caller ID is Nie Mingjue, "you need to get here, now. Something's happened" Nie Mingjue says his tone low and serious and Lan Xichen frowns as he grabs his coat since he hadn't changed his clothes after just getting home two hours ago already approaching his didi's room.
"What is it about?" He asks opening the door slowly to check up on him while making sure the camera in his didi's room he uses to check up on him is working. He approaches Lan Wangji, "Wangji" he whispers, shaking him gently. Lan Wangji turns but only opens one eye, "I need to go to work, if you get hungry I'll leave some money so you can order" he says and Lan Wangji nods curling up in his bed.
Lan Xichen pulls the covers to tuck his didi in before approaching the garage to leave after he grabbed his car keys.
"Just get in here, we can't be overheard," Nie Mingjue says and the call ends.

Present…
"The borders are now tightly closed as the infected country desperately fights over the strange entities–" Lan Xichen turns off the television as soon as he hears his didi's door open. Lan Xichen checks over the soup he was making and takes the butter in the fridge for their toasts.
"Wangji, I already replaced your old inhalers" Lan Xichen says, placing four extra inhalers in one of the pockets in his didi's bag as he follows behind Lan Wangji who is taking the books he borrowed in the library from the coffee table.
Lan Wangji internally groans as his gege hovers over him before he steps out of the house hurriedly as he hears Jiang Yanli's car. "Yes, gege" he replies at some point and Lan Xichen sighs before Lan Wangji enters the car sitting beside Wei Wuxian while Jiang Cheng is seated beside Jiang Yanli in the passenger's side.
"Wuxian, please make sure Wangji uses his inhaler after eating his lunch" Lan Xichen says after passing Lan Wangji his sweater since his didi easily gets cold, "you can count on me" Wei Wuxian promises with a smile, and Lan Xichen watches Jiang Yanli's car leave before going to work.
"Bye" Jiang Yanli says with a smile as she drops them off at the all boys school and they all wave goodbye watching the car turn a corner before they head inside.
Jiang Yanli hums to the music playing on the radio before frowning when her radio suddenly turns to static as she enters her all girls school. She presses the buttons to check what channels were available before smiling when the music is on again.
She parks her car carefully before entering the school after surrendering her car key to the guard house then she goes to her classroom. "Hey!" She says waving to her friends, "we heard tea about Mrs. Wen" one of her friends said and she sat down immediately concerned for their science teacher since she hasn't been to school for days now.
"What happened?"
"They said she and a few other scientists were kidnapped by the military for a secret project"
"Oh my god" they all murmured to each other as they huddled closer.
"I heard there's crazy crap really happening outside right now"
"I read that too! Some sort of disease is spreading so they closed the borders"
"Disease? What kind of disease?"
"Okay, I don't actually believe it's a disease because from what I heard what's happening was people were biting into other people to eat them"
"Ew!" Everyone exclaims at the table.
"Like cannibalism?"
"Like cannibalism"

"Lan Zhan, come on, eat more of your food" Wei Wuxian says as he drinks his juice and Lan Wangji pouts as he plays with the fried tofu on his plate.
"I understand why Wangji won't eat it though, it tastes like shit" Nie Huasiang says while he drinks his juice. Jiang Cheng as he narrows his eyes suspiciously at the weird orange cut beside the greens, "it fucking moved, hell no" he says pushing his plate away groaning and Wei Wuxian laughs before he starts to shake the inhaler that is attached to Lan Wangji's ID lace a little and he gives it to him.
Wei Wuxian rubs gentle circles on his lover's back as Lan Wangji inhales the medication. "Thank you, Wei Ying'' Lan Wangji says and Wei Wuxian smiles as he pats Lan Wangji's cheek before he notices the books on Lan Wangji's back, "are you going to return those, baby?" He asks and Lan Wangji nods as he stands up after finishing his milk.
"I will see you all later" Lan Wangji says and the lovers kiss before he leaves.
"Damn, you're so lucky you already found the love of your life" Nie Huasiang says and Wei Wuxian chuckles, "I know, hey could you two check out this one? I think Lan Zhan will like it" he says, taking out his phone from his pocket and Jiang Cheng and Nie Huasiang's eyes widen, "are you serious?" Nie Huasiang asks.
"I've been saving money to buy it for Lan Zhan" Wei Wuxian says with a proud smile on his face.
"You must really love him, huh?" Nie Huasiang says with a smile and Wei Wuxian smiles back as he admires it again before frowning when he notices he doesn't have cell service.
"Hey, did they just turn off the Wi-Fi?" Wei Wuxian asks.
"We did not pay gold for them to turn off the fucking Wi-Fi on us" Jiang Cheng complains as he checks his phone as well. Nie Huasiang starts checking if the others still have cell service, "weird" he says going back to their table as he tries to refresh his phone again.
"I need to go get Lan Zhan," Wei Wuxian said, concerned with the situation before the lights in the canteen went out.
