It’s a Scream, Baby

Summary:

Y/N is scared about the killings, Randy, well, Randy isn’t. The two of you decide to watch movies at his house - with some unsatisfying results.

*I used ‘she’ while writing the majority of this, until the ending. There’s also mentions of characters deaths in this story! Hope you guys enjoy :)*

Notes:

This is my first Scream story, so I know there’s room for me to improve. If you guys have any criticisms, feel free to comment them. I want to write better. Thank you for reading. :)

Work Text:

“What? You’re not even a little bit scared, Randy?” She questioned. She watched as he methodically put each movie up in it’s correct spot. Most didn’t care, they weren’t getting paid enough, but Randy took time to make sure all the movies were in the correct spot.

He shook his head. “No, there’s a formula to it, just like in every horror movie.”

“People are getting butchered, gutted, and that’s all you can think about? Horror movies?”

“What can I say? I’m very knowledgeable when it comes to horror movies. There’s rules to it. #1. You can never have sex. #2. You can never drink or do drugs, and finally, #3. Never, ever, ever under any circumstances say, ‘I’ll be right back.’ Because you won’t be back.”

“So, we can’t have sex. Gotcha.”

“I never said that WE couldn’t have sex.”

“I don’t know. Maybe you’ll get gutted once we get started. Or maybe, you’re the killer and you’ll get me once my guard is down.”

“You really think I could be the killer?” He questioned. “For all I know, you could be the killer. Everybody is a suspect. Me, you, Stu, Billy, Tatum. Sidney’s too… messed up to be a murderer. But the 5 of us? One of us could easily be the killer.”

“Why would Tatum and I want to murder Casey? We were friends, you know. And Steve never bothered me, and he definitely didn’t bother Tatum. Plus, I can vouch for Tatum. All three of us were hanging out: me, Tatum and Stu.”

“Again, was that before or after Stu killed Casey? He says that he dumped Casey, but he didn’t. Casey dumped him because she wanted to be with Steve.”

“And what? Did Stu tell you that himself?” She asked.

“Maybe he did!”

“Regardless of that information, Stu was with us. Maybe he did kill her though. He was vengeful that Casey dumped him, and didn't want to see her with anyone but him. Tatum was a possible rebound, but when Casey didn’t care that Stu moved on, he decided she had to die.”

“Maybe I’m rubbing off on you.” Randy gave a grin.

“If it’ll calm your nerves, why don’t you come over tonight and we can watch your favorite horror movie together? Then, if we end up getting butchered, it’ll happen when we’re together.”

“Oh, yeah, that’s super comforting, Randy. Thanks.”

He flashed a grin. “You know I’m joking. What do you say? I get off at 9 because of the curfew. I don’t mind swinging by your house to pick you up.”

“Oh, right, Stu is having a party later in ‘celebration’ of the curfew. He mentioned that he invited us.” If she was being honest, she had a weird feeling about the party. Everything was happening so quickly, why would Stu want to throw a party in celebration that students were being murdered?

“Did you want to go?” He asked. He peered up at her.

“I’m fine with you picking me up. Unless you want to go to the party?”

“I don’t mind staying at my house with you. Just call Sidney or Tatum and tell them that we won’t make it. I’m sure they won’t care.”

She nodded. “I’ll do that once I get home.” She leaned forward, planting a kiss on his cheek. “Be careful.”

“I will be, unless Billy or Stu get to me first.”

She rolled her eyes. “You know which horror movie is my favorite, don’t forget to grab it before you leave.”

He gave a nod of his head. “Yes, I know, you love Psycho. In case I do forget, do you just want to go ahead and grab it and then bring it with you when I pick you up?”

“Sure,” she grabbed Psycho, scanning the aisles for Prom Night and Halloween. “I know how much you love Prom Night, is it because Jamie Lee Curtis is prettier than me?”

“You’re the prettiest girl I’ve ever laid eyes on.”

She giggled. “Thank you. I’ll see you around 9.”

“Hey, Sid, Randy and I won’t make it to the party tonight. In case you need us, I’ll be over at Randy’s house, alright? Keep me updated on the whole Billy thing, I know Tatum mentioned that he wasn’t allowed to come, but, you know him.”

She could hear Sidney laugh on the other end. “Thanks for telling me, otherwise I would’ve thought that the killer got you two. I’ll talk to you later, alright?”

“Talk to you later! Have a good time!”

She put the phone back up, waiting for Randy to come pick her up. She left Psycho, Halloween and Prom Night on the kitchen table, so she could remember to grab them before she left. Her mom was working late tonight, and her dad was in the living room, watching tv.

She heard someone at the front door knock.

“See you later, dad.”

She grabbed the movies off the table, opening the front door to see Randy standing there. “Good to know you’re still alive,” he joked.

“I could say the same thing about you,” she closed the door behind her.

Halfway through watching Psycho, she started to get an uneasy feeling that they were being watched. “Hey, Randy, do you feel anyone staring at you?” She turned to look at him.

“Nobody but you, why?”

“I feel like we’re being watched. And I know, I’m probably being paranoid because of the whole Casey and Steve thing, but I just have a weird feeling in my chest.”

“You have nothing to worry about. My parents are home, my sister is here, we’re safe. I won’t let anyone hurt you, okay?”

She nodded. She glanced out his bedroom window. “Can I call Sid real quick? I haven’t heard from her in a minute. She told me she would keep me updated.”

He pointed at his phone. “Go ahead.”

Luckily she had Stu’s number. Good thing Sidney picked up. “Sid?” She questioned.

“Uh, no, Sidney can’t talk right now.”

“Billy?” She asked. “Is Sidney okay?”

“Oh, yeah, yeah. She’s fine. How are you doing?”

This was weird. Billy wasn’t supposed to be at the party. “I thought you weren’t going to the party, Tatum told me that Stu didn’t want you coming? Did you and Sidney make up? You know, she was telling me how sorry she was for thinking you were the killer.”

“In a way, I guess you could say we made up. Listen, I’ll tell Sidney that you called, alright? You and Randy have a good night. We’ll talk later.” Wait a minute. How did Billy know that she was with Randy? Unless Sidney told him..

“Wait,” she chuckled. “How do you know that I’m with Randy?”

“Who do you think has been staring at you through the window?”

“What?”

“I’m kidding. Sidney told me.”

She gave an awkward laugh. “You got me, Billy. Have a good night, and tell Sidney to call me as soon as she can, alright? Talk to you later.” She heard the line go dead on the other end.

Randy seemed puzzled. “What’s going on?”

“That was Billy, but he mentioned the both of us. The only person I told that I would be with you, was Sidney. Then he said ‘who do you think has been staring at you through the window?’”

Randy rolled his eyes. “He’s just messing with us. Sidney and Billy probably made up at the party, she told him that we weren’t coming and he just wanted to scare you.”

“Randy, I’ve had the feeling of someone watching me since we began watching Psycho. Billy isn’t playing with us, he’s probably out there right now, planning on how he’s going to kill us. He’ll string us from the trees just like Casey.”

“Or, he’s just going to have his little lapdog, Stu, do it.” Randy corrected.

“Regardless. Someone is watching us right now.”

“At least we’ll be together.” She turned away from him. “Oh yeah, a real way to go, watching horror movies.”

Eventually, everything felt fine. However, if she looked close enough, she could see the killer behind one of the trees in their yard. He’d peek over, watching as the two talked amongst each other, he held the knife in his hand. He pulled the mask off, muttering something about ‘having to do it some other day and SHE never did anything to him.’ He’d have to get Randy when he wasn’t with her. Billy looked down at the phone in his hands, dialing a phone number.

“Hello (y/n).”
