Work Text:
When the demon makes the offer she barely believes it can be true; but she says yes anyway. The chance, however slim, to have it all be over; too tempting to be passed up, no matter the price.
She starts over, changes everything about herself, determined to enjoy every moment of this second life. Abbie was a scared little girl who sold the soul she barely believed in, Bela is a woman who'll never let herself remember how that felt. The deal will come due, but that's a worry for another day, for now she's got a life to live.

It was supposed to be a simple job, one cursed rabbit's foot for a nice payday, but the idiots she'd hired messed up and suddenly she's neck deep in Winchesters. She steers clear of hunters, and from what she's heard the Winchesters are worse than most on account of their daddy teaching them to see everything preternatural as evil. Shooting Sam had been a last resort, but it should have worked, she still can't quite believe she fell for one of the oldest tricks in the book. The tickets were a small compensation, but not enough to make things square.

Getting the car towed was petty she knows, but worth it for the look on Dean's face. If the brothers are going to mess up her con, then she's got no qualms over taking advantage of their skills if it helps her get the hand faster. Then she sees the damn ship, and suddenly she actually needs them. She doesn't tell them everything, but they help her anyway. It eats at her, being helpless, needing to be saved, she hates the thought of being in anyone's debt, giving them the money helps her feel like they're back on even footing.

The Winchesters are starting to become a problem, thanks to their association she's now got Gordon Walker waving her own gun in her face. Giving up their location for a pretty good deal seems like an easy choice, but then she gets the call from Dean. She had thought of them as easy marks, never imagined them a threat to her, but in that moment she realises she's wrong. Helping without payment goes against her nature, but just this once she offers up the info for free, she knows they won't heed the warning, but either way they're even again.

The deal's coming due, and Lilith's offer seems like her best shot. The Winchesters' call gives her an easy in, so desperate in their need to save Bobby that they don't look too deeply at why she's showed up to help. They should have known her better by now, she doesn't do freebies no matter how righteous the cause. Distracted as they are it's simple work for her to crack the safe and take the Colt, all she has to do is keep the brothers off her back long enough for her to contact Lilith and close the new deal.

After all her years in the game she should have known it wouldn't be that easy, instead of Lilith she finds herself facing off with Crowley and the deal has changed, they want the Colt and Sam Winchester dead. Henriksen seems like the answer to her prayers, it doesn't take much to nudge him in the right direction, and once the Winchesters are locked up they should be easy prey for the demons. It's the perfect plan, gets the job done without any risk to her, but somehow the Winchesters twist free yet again, and she's nearly out of time.

The hellhounds are getting closer, and there's nothing she can do to stop them. When Dean tracks her down she sees her last chance when she manages to get their location. No overly complicated plans this time, she'll do the job herself. She likes the Winchesters, and in another world they might even have been friends, but when it comes down to their lives or her survival, there really isn't any choice. When she pulls the trigger, for just a moment she thinks she's finally free, but then she realises the truth, she's out of deals and out of time.

She dies screaming, the hounds ripping her to pieces, but that's nothing to what comes next. Hell is her every nightmare come to life, the fear and pain unending. They drag her worst memories from her, make her Abbie again, never giving her a moment of rest, breaking her mind apart over and over. But she manages to keep one secret hidden, her last piece of hope, that the Winchesters use what she told them about the contracts to take Lilith down, they're the stubbornest bastards she ever met, and if she can't have her freedom, she'll settle for vengeance.
