Staring at the beautiful little bundle in her arms Renee’s eyes fill with tears. She had a beautiful little girl, a little girl she couldn’t keep.
Renee knew what she was getting into when she signed the Surrogate contract, she just didn’t expect she’d fall in love with her little womb mate her Little Wolf. Staring down as she wraps her in the wolf blanket, she made Renee feel a lot of emotions.
She only agreed to do this for the money. Aunt May needed help she was going to lose the house and Peter had his heart sent for college but couldn’t afford it even with his scholarships.
Renee had to help her family, when Uncle Ben died that made the income hard and Renee wasn’t making that much money with just being a vet Tec right now, she was still studying and earning her way. But she couldn’t let Aunt May lose the house and Peter deserved to have his education.
But now staring at the little face of her Little Wolf she suddenly regrets this She was deeply attached and loved her, and it had only been a few minutes since her birth.
“You are so beautiful my Little wolf and I don’t even know your name.” She whispers. It was a closed surrogate for some rich family that wanted a baby but couldn’t have their own. Renee was only to carry the baby for them and never have a contract again. Something Renee regrets now.
“Renee the father is ready for the baby.” Renee starts to cry as she wraps her little wolf in the blanket and holds her close kissing her head.
“Can I at least know her name?” The nurse looks down sad.
“You know I can’t Renee.” Renee just nods as she holds her close and tightly
“You’re going to have the best life my Little Wolf. This is your best chance. I’ll always think about you and love you forever my little one.” Renee gives her one last kiss as the nurse gently takes the baby, her baby girl as she leaves the room.
“Goodbye, my Little Wolf,” Renee whispers.
3 Years Later
Bucky eyes the rundown neighborhood as Piper smiles up at her daddy.
“Daddy?” She whispers as Bucky looks down at his pride and joy he smiles.
“Whatcha thinking Piper?” She giggles and smiles at her daddy.
“just love you daddy.” She whispers as Bucky’s heart melts he lifts her.
“Well, I love you too.” He holds her close as he surveys the neighborhood and the houses it needed some help.
“I’m gonna sit you down now okay Piper?” She nods as Bucky sits her down as he pulls out his phone taking some photos he looks up and smiles seeing Piper picking little flowers.
Some thought he was crazy for taking on being a single dad, but Bucky wanted to be a dad so bad, and he knew with his company and business he would never marry or find a woman plus he wasn’t looking for a relationship, but Bucky longed for a child.
Piper Stevie Barnes came at the perfect time and the right time for Bucky. He sometimes worries he isn’t a good dad that Piper needs a mother he sighs all his thoughts going crazy as he looks up his heart-stopping.
Piper was not in her spot she was gone. Bucky was on high alert as he looked around for her.
“PIPER!” Bucky yells as he starts running around looking for her his heart beating like crazy.
“PIPER STEVIE BARNES WHERE ARE YOU!” Bucky is full-blown in panic as he starts running calling for Piper.
“PIPER!” He yells as Piper walks out holding a tiny white furball.
“Piper how dare you run off like that! What did I tell you about running off? You scared daddy so much.”
Piper just sniffles as she shows Bucky the white kitten she’s holding.
“Sick daddy.” Bucky looks down his heart softening as he takes the little kitten it looked like it hadn’t had food or water in a while. Piper was concerned as she sniffled.
“Daddy we help.” Bucky just stares at those big blue eyes and nods.
“Okay baby girl let’s go.”
Trying to find an open Vet was going to be hard as Bucky drove as fast and safe as he could Piper was singing to the kitten as Bucky smiles peering in the rearview mirror.
Bucky drives as his GPS takes him to the closest Vet he hopes it’s still open as he parks outside.
Renee was just closing for the night as she goes to lock up when a frantic man and little girl run to the door.
“Please can you help us?” Renee’s eyes soften as she opens the door to them.
“Of course, come in.” Renee smiles small as the two rush in. The little girl looks up at Renee her eyes full of sadness as Renee bends down to her level.
“What’s the matter little one?” Piper shows Renee the white kitten as Renee gently takes her in her arms and frowns.
“What happened?” Piper starts to sniffle as Bucky clears his throat
“We found her like that well Piper did, and we knew she needed help.” Renee looks up at the dad and just nods as she looks over the kitten.
“It’s kitten season which means lots of momma kittens having babies and then sadly them being left on their own. This little girl is still a little one, old enough to be on her own but tiny enough that she can’t fend for herself.” Renee runs her fingers over the kitten as Piper looks up at her worried.
“She otay?” Piper whispers as Renee feels her heart go out to the little girl, she gently wraps the kitten in a blanket and hands her gently back to Piper. Who holds her close to her little chest.
“With love and care, I think she will, are you two wanting to keep her? If not, I’ll need to find a foster for her.” Piper turns her big eyes on her daddy and just stares at him.
“Pwease daddy I wove her.” Bucky runs his fingers through his hair he looks at Piper and back at this beautiful Veterinarian who he just realized how beautiful she was. He finds his voice.
“What would we have to do care-wise for the kitten?” Renee smiles as she grabs some supplies and a starter kit for them.
“Here, this will walk you two through it all. Just ensuring she’s getting the proper nutrients needed to help her grow into a big beautiful cat someday. Monitor her and if you have any questions please call me anytime.” Renee hands Bucky her card as he smiles at her, lost by her big brown eyes.
Piper tugs on Renee’s pant legs as Renee looks down and smiles.
“I wove wolfy too!” Piper points at Renee’s wolf print scrub. Renee’s heart skips a beat as she smiles at Piper.
“Wolves are my favorite too Piper I take it you like them a lot?” Piper nods clapping her hands as Renee smiles at her she walks behind her desk and pulls a few wolf stickers for Piper.
“Only my best customers get wolf stickers.” Piper giggles and gets excited as she slips the stickers in her pocket and hugs Renee’s legs carefully as not to disturb the sleeping kitten she was holding.
Bucky is just speechless watching them interact he’s never seen Piper take to a female who wasn’t family or close friends.
The white kitten finally feeling safe and secure starts to meow and move a bit in Piper’s arms as Piper gets happy.
“Doc how much do I owe you for this?” Bucky whispers as Renee looks up at him, she shakes her head.
“Nothing, I opened this clinic to help those who can’t always afford vet bills, or you know the unexpected pet emergency, I have grants as well as I always tell my clients to donate what they can, and please, call me Renee.”
Bucky is just caught off guard by her kindness first Piper likes her and now this. He watches as she acts with Piper, she was unlike any woman he’s met not as he goes out looking for women any way he had his best girl his little doll he didn’t need a woman.
“Thank you, Renee, for seeing us and helping us, I promise I’ll call if we have any questions.” Renee nods smiling as Piper frowns, she tugs on Renee’s pant leg again.
“Bye Nee.” Renee smiles as Piper holds the little kitten close.
“Bye Piper you take care now.”
As they say their goodbyes Bucky sneaks a donation to her jar he quickly turns back around.
“Thanks again, Renee.” Bucky smiles at her as he takes Piper’s free hand and walks out the door.
Piper looks up at her daddy as they walk to the car.
“Me like Nee daddy.” Bucky smiles as he gets her buckled up.
“I did too Piper.”
Renee watches the cute little family as she turns the lights back off and starts to lock up once again. She feels a tiny bit of sadness her Little Wolf would have been around the same age as Piper maybe older. Renee just sighs to herself, it had been three years the constant thinking about her baby wasn’t healthy. She made a choice and she had to live with that every day.
It’s time she stopped thinking about it but seeing cute little Piper tonight just reminded her of what she could have had. Sighing she walks to the subway to get on the train home.
It was nice to help Bucky and Piper she thinks as she sits on the subway, it always makes her good when she can help the animals and the owners. Laying back against the seat she closes her eyes for a moment as Renee imagines what could have been.
But instead of seeing her Little Wolf in her head, she sees Bucky and Piper and their beautiful eyes. She hopes she sees them again someday.
