Chapter Text

“Ruby… why…?”

Weiss’s voice was weak as she teetered on the edge of consciousness. Blake and Yang had already passed out, overwhelmed by Ruby’s surprise attack. After she’d gone missing for days, worrying the team sick, the gang found her in a nearly abandoned city just hours from where they thought they’d lost her. She seemed, strangely, in good shape; there was nary a scratch on her body nor a catch in her voice. In fact, she seemed in better condition than she had since the Fall of Beacon.

Then, in the middle of the night, she loosed a bullet of lightning dust on each of them, easily immobilizing them and knocking them out. The black and yellow pair had barely enough time to widen their eyes in surprise before losing consciousness, while Weiss was able to flare her aura just enough to avoid an immediate drop.

Her (former, she supposed) partner’s expression turned dark, a hint of sadness lurking behind deadened silver eyes. “Salem can’t die. She can’t be beat. We couldn’t win, no matter how hard we tried. I’m tired, Weiss. I’m tired of fighting a losing battle, tired of watching my friends die, tired of feeling hopeless.” She turned away from Weiss, staring out across the dark of night. “She promised me everything I needed. Parts, blueprints, test subjects… anything I needed to make whatever I wanted to. No limits, either. I can make whatever I want. Even… even the things I’ve been too scared to make. The things I was scared other people would judge me for.”

Weiss couldn’t believe it. Ruby wouldn’t turn against them, not in the most dire of times. She was their core, their strength. What happened?

She turned back to her, and Weiss saw the tears starting to form in her eyes. “I’m sorry, Weiss. I can’t go back. I hope I can make you understand. I need… I need to let this part of myself free.”

The last thing she saw before passing out was a glint of dark red when Ruby wiped her eyes.

She awoke some time later, slowly blinking her eyes open, before remembering exactly what had happened, suddenly jolting awake. The room around her was built of grey stone, from the floor to the walls to the arched entryway leading out to a dark corridor. Dim moonlight, tinted blood red, streamed in through elegant paneled windows lining the walls. Her eyes scanned metal racks with various implements (weapons?) she couldn’t recognize, stacked up against the wall. Tables and drawers, built of what looked like dark purple dust crystals, were crowded against the other wall, and it was only then she noticed the outline of a person hunched over those tables, buried in focus.

She tried to move, finding that it was all but impossible. Both her hands were chained at the wrist to the wall behind her, stretched out in a T pose. Her ankles were similarly restrained, with what she assumed were metal shackles spreading her legs apart wide. After trying to crane her neck to look down at her predicament, she realized that it too was restrained to the wall with a metal collar, limiting her to slight turns of the head. She struggled against her bonds for a short while, before realizing probably the most surprising thing of all: she was entirely stripped naked.

“Oh, you’re awake.” Apparently, her movements had caught the attention of her captor. It was upsetting to hear Ruby speak in such a muted tone, especially given the situation, as though it were perfectly natural that she was affixed to the wall. “Cool. I just finished this, gimme a second.”

“What are you–Ruby, what’s going on–”

Finally, the dark-haired girl turned from her presumed workbench to face Weiss, holding some sort of mechanical contraption with wires snaking out of several terminals. “It’s gonna be okay, Weiss. You’ll get it soon enough.” As she approached, she began unraveling several of the wires, revealing small pads about an inch square attached to the end of each. “Or you won’t be able to care.”

“Was…was that a threat?”

Ruby shrugged. “It’s just the facts.”

Gods, she was terrified. Quickly, she tried flaring her aura to no avail, finding it already broken and drained. Same story with her glyphs. That gave rise to the thought of what they could’ve done to her while she was unconscious to cause such an effect, which terrified her even further. She was so lost in her fear, even, that she hadn’t noticed when Ruby began affixing the pads to various places on her trembling body, in carefully positioned pairs. Three pairs lining both sides of her abdomen, trailing down to just above her crotch. A pair on either breast, one to the left of the nipple and one to the right. A pair each on her thighs, one high and one low. And to finish it off, one pair each on her lower arms.

The feeling of immobilization was already worrisome, but the wires snaking off her skin pushed her fear up a notch. She felt like a medical experiment gone wrong, strapped down, pads and wires affixed to her, all connected to a mysterious contraption. Weiss wasn’t entirely sure, but she had a growing suspicion that she knew what the pads and wires were for, and it set her heart racing.

Ruby set the contraption down on a table nearby, then turned back to Weiss. “I have to punish you, just like She punished me,” she intoned in a strangely empty voice. There was a hint of dark red in Ruby’s silver gaze. “We stood against Her. Impeded Her plans. We have to atone for what we’ve done.”

“Atone? Ruby, what–”

That was all she managed before Ruby flicked a switch and Weiss’s entire body coursed with pain. She screamed out in agony, straining against her shackles, not fully in control of her actions or her voice. She’d been hit with electricity before, from many sources including Nora, but never had it been so precisely distributed, nor had it been without aura to protect her. There was little she could do to stop the shockwaves rippling through her, burning her nerve endings, shattering her understanding of what agony could be.

Her anguished cries echoed throughout the room, throaty and harsh, yet Ruby seemed entirely unaffected. Weiss was able to make eye contact with her, just barely, only to discover she had a look of satisfaction on her face, the same one she always got when a new upgrade to Crescent Rose worked perfectly. Her eyes went wide, just as another jolt bent her into an arched back and yet another scream of pain.

The worst part was that after this wave, when the next one hit and her eyes went white for a moment, it had started to teeter on the edge of pleasure.

After a few minutes, Ruby shut the Gods-damned contraption off, leaving Weiss a panting, shuddering mess, limp on her restraints, tears starting to form. To her credit, she composed herself as quickly as she could, pouring every ounce of energy she had left into defiance.

And that defiance kept her wits about her, until Ruby walked back up to her and put a hand on her cheek. “We have to know what hell feels like,” explained Ruby, in that horrifyingly empty voice, “so she can show us salvation.” The small streak of dark red in her eyes swirled within the grey pools as her voice became infused with a euphoric lilt. “She showed me, Weiss. More than I can even imagine, more than I ever thought possible.”

Suddenly, something thick and wet plunged into her slit from beneath her, accompanied by some other contraption closing in around her folds, positioning itself against her (surprisingly wet) clit. She loosed a yelp, astonished at how good it felt, involuntarily bucking her hips against the metal dildo. The euphoric sensations were an all-too-welcome relief against the white hot pain of the electrical pads, and the first slivers of capitulation buried themselves deep in Weiss’s mind.

Ruby had leaned in close to Weiss, so close that barely a whisper was loud enough, and said with the most wanton voice she’d ever heard, “I wanna show you what She showed me, what the kingdoms could never give us. Join us, and you can indulge in things you never knew you needed.”

The machine whirred to life, and ripped a scream from her throat so erotic it made even the stoic Ruby in front of her blush. It was all she could to to keep from grinding on the dildo and… whatever it was that had ensnared the sensitive nub buried in her slit, so difficult to remember how she’d gotten here and not give in to the vibrations of pleasure that were currently lifting her out of her body. She had to remain defiant, had to focus on getting out of here, had to focus on rescuing… oh Gods, Yang and Blake…

Until her thoughts were put to a swift end by a devilishly powerful orgasm, shattering her in a parallel manner to the electrodes, searing her with bliss near the point of pain. The machine kept her riding that high, inundating her with an overload of sensation that pushed her right to the breaking point, before she sucked in a gasp through her teeth and steeled her resolve. As she came down from her intense peak, she refocused herself on thoughts of escape and rescue.

“Don’t… please don’t fight it, Weiss. I don’t want to have to break you.”

The notes of sadness, almost pleading, were undeniable in Ruby’s voice. “I just want you to follow me. She only wants to give us bliss.”

“I’ll never– fuck –fall in with Salem,” spat Weiss, through gritted teeth. “I can’t… I can’t believe you– shit –have.”

Ruby’s face hardened, just a little. “I hope I can show you differently,” she said. “You might just need some convincing. I gotta go check on Blake and Yang, you just hang tight here and think about it, okay?” The crimson stain on her eyes had retreated. When had that happened?

“Are you just going to–to leave me like this?” Weiss demanded, as another climax built.

Her partner turned in the doorway as she was leaving, looking back one last time. “Yup,” she said simply. “What I built, it’s nothing compared to what She can do, but I guess you could think of it like training before a real fight.” Just as she was about to round into the corridor, she left Weiss with a parting recommendation. “I know you won’t, because I know you, but… try to enjoy it. It’s a lot more fun when you give in and enjoy it. I’ll be back in a bit.”

As Ruby disappeared into the dark hallway, Weiss felt that wave crash over her again, that crescent of absolute bliss, spilling over nearly into anguish, white hot colliding with golden lightning, blanking her mind for more than a few moments. It was, in truth, a greater ecstasy than any she’d ever experienced, and as the high subsided, she found a part of her wishing for more. But, just as quickly as that thought occurred, fear as a response that she might be giving in answered.

Suddenly, the electrical pads sparked to life again, sending excruciating jolts of current through the most sensitive parts of her body. Seconds after such an exultant high, the acute pain of the pads brought her crashing into a torturous hell, shaking and sputtering, the horrendous mind-blanking parallel to the oblivion of the orgasm. She screamed to an empty room, knowing no salvation was coming, no mercy would be dispensed, screaming simply because her body had no other way to express what it felt.

Yet, the dildo was still inside her, the machine still at the ready, and as she convulsed in her restraints, the friction from the length inside of her and the thing pressed against her nub crossing wires in her brain, blending white hot pain with white hot pleasure, before the pads shut off and the wires went dead, granting her mere seconds of relief until the fucking machine returned to life, sending her back into blissful oblivion.

After her third crushing climax, she prayed Ruby would return soon. With no way to keep track of time save for the agonizing arrhythmic cycles of the machines, she had no idea how long she’d been in there already, or how long it would be until her captor’s return.

She would be waiting for hours.
