Chapter Text
Ragna the Bloodedge opened his eyes, looking at the ceiling above him. He felt the soft bed that he was lying upon. He groaned, trying to get all the grogginess out of his body by simply staying still, but it was an irritatingly slow process. Sighing, he tried to sit up, only to feel something weighing him down. He looked at his arm, seeing a girl with black hair clinging onto it.
“Just give me a few more minutes…” Velvet Crowe groaned, pulling his arm into a tighter hug.
Ragna smiled for a brief few seconds, then noticed something that stood out.
Velvet… was completely naked.
He didn’t need to check under the covers. He felt the blanket touch his skin directly, indicating that he was completely bare too. He saw both of their clothes had been tossed to the side and strewn about. Great, that wouldn’t cause creasing at all.
It wouldn’t take an ace detective to figure out what had conspired the previous night between the two of them.
“Come on, Velv.” Ragna said, tugging at his arm. “We gotta get up.”
“Don’t wanna…” Velvet whined.
“Velvet, we need to go meet up with the others.” Ragna said. “We’re practically at the border now, and they’re all waiting for us.”
“Just stay here a little more…” Velvet said.
Taking matters into his own hands, Ragna quickly tickled Velvet’s bare side, causing the girl to yelp and let go.
“Ragna!” She shouted. “Don’t do that out of nowhere!”
“Sorry about that.” Ragna chuckled. “But a certain Lord of Calamity didn’t want to get out of bed.”
He was greeted with a pillow to the face. He was completely unfazed, as it slid off and hit the bed.
“I see you’re awake now.” He teased.
Velvet grumbled, hugging the other pillow towards herself.
“Come on, Velvet, we gotta wash up and join the others.” Ragna said. “Just sitting around and acting like a kid won’t get us anywhere. What happened to the mature and headstrong girl I know?”
“She’s on vacation.” Velvet said, simply laying back on the bed (much to Ragna’s irritation). “Can’t we stay like this for a little bit longer? Please?”
Ragna was about to say no, but saw the pleading look in Velvet’s eyes. He was pretty damn blindsided by this, since Velvet’s normal expression usually consisted of a glare and a frown. This pleading expression was a new one; most likely a secret weapon that she had devised in a situation like this.
And damn her, because it was working really well.
“...fine.” Ragna sighed. “Five more minutes.”
“Good enough for me.” Velvet said, patting the bed and telling Ragna to come closer.
Ragna complied with the request, laying down and pulling himself close to the girl, pulling her into a warm hug.
“I needed this.” Velvet said with a small sigh of happiness.
“Yeah, I guess it does feel nice.” Ragna said.
“You guess?” Velvet asked, looking up at him.
“Ugh, fine.” Ragna rolled his eyes. “I love this feeling.”
“There you go.” Velvet said. “I don’t want this feeling to ever go away…”
Ragna would have normally agreed nonchalantly, but noticed that there was a bit of a shaky tone to Velvet’s voice.
“Hey, is something wrong?” Ragna asked her.
Velvet was about to lie and say that she was perfectly fine, but she knew for a fact that Ragna would pick up on it almost instantly. She sighed, looking up at him.
“I was just… thinking.” Velvet said.
She didn’t continue, causing Ragna to raise a brow.
“...about?” Ragna said, telling her to go on. “Don’t leave it hanging there.”
“Well, the future.” Velvet said. “Our future.”
Ragna was silent, as Velvet continued.
“I’m just… not sure what fate has in store for us.” Velvet said. “And I can’t help but feel a bit worried that we might not be able to-”
“Hey.”
She looked back up at Ragna, who smiled at her.
“We’ll get through this together, alright?” Ragna said. “I made a promise, and I won’t ever leave you.”
She could hear the determination in his words, the determination and willpower that had made her fall in love with him in the first place.
“No matter what bullshit that the world throws at us, no matter what crap the future has planned for us, we’ll get through it.” Ragna said. “I got your back, and I’ll never let go.”
“Ragna…” Velvet had to force herself from crying due to how touched she was by his notion.
She settled by grabbing his face and pulling him into a cheek, which the Grim Reaper returned. The kiss slowly grew deeper, and probably would have continued into something steamier… if not for a very conveniently timed interruption (not for Ragna and Velvet though).
CRASH
The two looked up to see the door fall down, with Rokurou and Magilou atop it. Eizen, Eleanor and Laphicet stood in the doorway.
“Damn your Reaper’s curse Eizen…” Rokurou muttered.
“What the hell are you all doing here?!” Velvet yelled, pulling the blanket up to cover herself better.
“Eavesdropping.” Magilou said rather quickly and bluntly. “I was hearing some juicy stuff in there before Eizen had to go and ruin it with that annoying curse of his…”
“I already told you all that I can’t control it.” Eizen said with a shrug. “What more do you want from me?”
“Then what the hell are you here for?” Ragna asked, managing to contain his embarrassment better than Velvet by masking it with irritation, although his face was just as red as his jacket.
“I was curious to see how Magilou and Rokurou would crash and burn.” He simply stated.
“So you WERE using your curse to your advantage!” Magilou shouted from the floor.
“Traitor to the bro code, man.” Rokurou said as he stood up, dusting the wood chips off of herself.
“Um, what’s going on?” Laphicet asked.
Eleanor had her hands covering his eyes, while she herself was practically blushing up a storm, unable to make any coherent words. She was mostly making choking noises, as well as high pitched sounds that you’d hear from a kettle.
“Alas, it does not seem that we’ll be able to get anything else from the lovey dovey couple today.” Magilou sighed, before putting on her signature grin. “But I got just enough of the good, juicy stuff. Could you two maybe consider doing it again at some point?”
“Could you consider getting the FUCK OUT?!” Ragna roared.
Velvet’s friends quickly disappeared in the blink of an eye at the Grim Reaper’s request. Both he and Velvet were left blushing messes.
“They’re never gonna let us live this crap down, are they?” Ragna sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose.
“Nope.” Velvet said, burying her face in her pillow. “And especially not Magilou.”
