Work Text:
Taako came home from the shoot to find Kravitz reading a book on the couch. He immediately perked up when he saw Taako.
“Taako!” he said, pulling him into a hug. “Please tell me you didn’t fire Susan.”
Taako returned the hug, speaking into Kravitz’s shoulder. “No, I held off. But only for you.”
Kravitz gave one last squeeze before pulling back, noticing the dead tired look in his husband's eyes. His smile morphed into a look of concern and he reached up to feel Taako’s forehead.
“Are you feeling okay?”
Taako flapped a hand at him. “Yeah, yeah fine, just. Y’know.”
“Particularly hard today?”
“Yeah.” Taako said, sniffing.
Kravitz led him to the couch, sitting him down. Taako crawled into his arms, lying on his chest and closing his eyes.
“I take it you liked the cat baby monstrosity?” Taako asked, a small smile playing across his face. He felt Kravitz laugh under him at the thought of it.
“You’ve got to stop sending me those, the necromancer I was trying to off had to stop while I laughed! He was very polite about it though.” Kravitz replied, gently massaging one of Taako’s ears. Taako leaned into the touch and relaxed, feeling the hollow feeling that seemed to be ever present in his chest lighten and what could be a purr start up.
“Nah, it’s funny.”
“Have you given any more thought to reconnecting with some of your family? Go out again with the Tres Horny Boys?”
Taako groaned and buried his face in Kravitz’s chest at the name. “I have very few things that I truly regret but by fuck is that stupid name one of them.”
He went quiet for a moment before answering Kravitz’s actual question. “I did think about it. You’re probably right.”
“I am about most things.”
Taako huffed and smacked Kravitz’s arm playfully. “Hush. But yeah, I think spending some time with the old gang wouldn’t be too bad. I’ll see if they want to come over for lunch and then fuck up some rogue assholes or whatever.”
Kravitz laughed again and kissed Taako’s head. “Sounds fun. I’m so proud of you, Taako. You’re amazing and I’m so lucky you’ve let me into your life.”
Taako blushed, smiling through it. “Yeah, I’m pretty fucking awesome. But so are you. You’re just… I love you. So much.”
He raised his head and gave Kravitz a sleepy kiss on the lips, savouring it.
“We still have Susan and Lucretia coming over for dinner tonight.” Taako said, ruining the moment.
“Fuck me with an above average sized lunchbox.” Kravitz said, not breaking face once even as Taako burst into giggles.
“But,” Taako continued. “We still have a few hours before Susan shows up with her dry ass mutton. So. Wanna have a bath?”
“You know I do, love.”
Even though it felt constant and never ending, things were getting better for Taako. Slowly but surely, he’d be okay.
