Chapter Text
Veronica and Margret watched Meliodas punch his fist on the ground.
“Dammit!” Meliodas screamed,
“Why now?”
“She has no right to take Elizabeth! Not after what she did to us!”
“I failed! I failed to protect her again!”
“I’ve failed her for the one hundredth and seventh time!”
Margret stepped forward,
“Sir Meliodas? If you don’t mind, would you explain what you’re talking about?” In all honesty, Margret didn’t think bothering Meliodas right now was a good idea. But father would demand answers when he heard about what had just happened. Margret stood there and watched as tears fell down Meliodas’ face.
“Capitan, one of the princesses asked you a question,” Merlin spoke up, sparing a glance at Margret.
Meliodas stood up and turned around to face the two princesses.
“R-right”
Meliodas’ clothes were torn and soaked with blood. There was a hole in his shirt where is one of his hearts should be. Meliodas wasn’t looking at either of the princesses. Instead, his eyes were locked on the ground.
“I’m sorry you had to see that. I hate to tell you this but Elizabeth…” Meliodas trailed off for a moment before continuing,
“You won’t get to see her again...I’m sorry, but there’s nothing I can do about it.”
Margret and Veronica stiffened, eyes wide.
“I need to go tell Baltra what just happened,” Meliodas mumbled, walking off.

It was quiet. Elizabeth looked down at the floor nervously, trying to avoid making eye contact with her mother.
“Elizabeth.” The Supreme Deity said, her voice cold.
“Y-yes mother?” Elizabeth responded, her voice shaking.
The Supreme Deity raised an eyebrow at her daughter’s reaction. If it were three thousand years ago Elizabeth wouldn’t have responded at all just given her a defiant glare. Judging by the panicked look in her Elizabeth’s eyes, she was afraid. The Supreme Deity smiled. Clearly, the curse had its intended effect.
“Look at me Elizabeth,” The Supreme Deity ordered,
“Y-yes of course, Mother,” Elizabeth looked into her mother’s eyes.
The Supreme Deity had a look of satisfaction on her face. She was satisfied with her Elizabeth’s obedience.
“Mother...what will be done about the Holy War? It needs to be stop-”
Elizabeth was cut off by her mother,
“The Holy War does not need to be stopped. The Holy War is needed to keep the balance of the world.”
Elizabeth blinked, in shock and confusion,
“To keep the balance of the world? But mother so many humans, giants, and fairies have lost their lives! Members of the Goddess Race lost their lives in the last Holy War too! Like...like...Mael. What about them?” Elizabeth looked down, breaking eye contact with her mother. Much to the Supreme Deity’s ire.
“Elizabeth.” The Supreme Deity snapped, losing her patience. Causing Elizabeth’s head to snap up, once again looking into her mother's eyes.
“Those who died in the Holy War died because they were weak and inferior beings. While Mael is an exception to this. You should not concern yourself with beings inferior to you. Especially those humans you’ve gotten so attached to.”
“Veronica and Margret have nothing to do with this!” Elizabeth shouted, impulsively. As soon as the words left her mouth, Elizabeth quickly slapped her hands over her mouth.
The Supreme Deity’s eyes narrowed, her smile fell,
“Are you questioning me?” The Supreme Deity raised her hand, and Elizabeth felt herself being lifted off the ground, and with a flick of her mother’s wrist, Elizabeth was pulled towards her mother.
“Mother, I’m sorry! I shouldn’t have said that. It was very immature of me.” Elizabeth quickly said with a panicked and fearful look on her face.
The Supreme Deity looked at Elizabeth for a moment before releasing her. Watching as Elizabeth fell to the floor.
“Trust me this attachment to these humans will be addressed, but that’s for another time. Now go put on the more acceptable clothes that are in your quarters.”
“Yes, mother,” Elizabeth said quickly before running off.
The Supreme Deity sighed, her Elizabeth used to be perfect. Obedient, dutiful, powerful. Everything the daughter of the Supreme Ruler of Celestial Realm should be, but then that accursed child, that demon, Meliodas lured her away with lies, and promises of love. It didn’t matter now. She’d reteach her Elizabeth how to behave.

Elizabeth stood in her quarters, staring at the floor. That was close. She had just narrowly avoided her mother’s wrath. Elizabeth quickly shook her head dismissing that train of thought. She had to hurry. She had no time to dwell on what had just happened or risk making her mother angrier. Elizabeth looked to her right, her bed was neatly made, and there was a set of clothes folded neatly on top. It was clear to Elizabeth that mother had planned to collect her. Rather than it being done on a whim. Sighing, Elizabeth picked up the clothes.
“Meliodas, please find a way to live on happily without me,” Elizabeth muttered, resigning to her fate. She could not afford to challenge her mother. Doing that would surely bring pain to the ones she held dear.

Baltra stared at Meliodas, he couldn’t have heard that right. Elizabeth was gone? No, that couldn’t be right.
“What are you talking about Meliodas?”
Baltra watched as Meliodas looked up from the floor. Meliodas’ hair was covering his left eye, and his cheeks were stained from tears. Baltra knew Meliodas was being serious, especially after he saw the broken look in Meliodas’ eyes.
“I’m sorry Baltra there’s nothing I can do.”
Meliodas turned, and made his way to the doors.
“Meliodas!” Baltra yelled, trying to get Meliodas’ attention, but Meliodas did not answer and kept walking towards the door.
