Chapter Text

Skitter and Shadow Stalker are caught in a deadly game.

Sliding in and out of her swarm form, Skitter attempts to catch Stalker off guard, be it by bug or baton.

Shifting to and fro, Stalker must catch Skitter with a phased bolt; to cripple and confound.

The shadows and alleys are their playground, floating through the air, or diving at impossible angles.

They are discovered in this eternal state, by Aegis and Vista, of the Protectorate Wards.

As heroes of the city, the Wards are honor-bound to intervene. Reporting to Console, they leap into action.

Vista, forcing space between the two duelists, and Aegis, by surviving two mirrored "greetings."

Recognizing the saviors of the city, the villains rush to apologize- then freeze, realizing the other was doing the same. The villains exchange a volley of seething words, before explaining themselves, slowing to a stop as they realize the other is no villain, but a paragon of virtue, same as they are.

Vista, realizing the paradox before her glorious leader, stifles a "cough," and asks the confused girls to come to the Protectorate for power testing.

Soon after, she assures the girls that both their powers are very nice, and have great potential for the vaunted Heroics.

Blushing, the newly-discovered heros assure the Ward they will, before darting back into the darkness, leaving a smug blonde, and confused and battered boy to continue their patrol.(After reporting back to Console, of course.)
