Chapter Text

"Gina"

"Gina"

"Gina"

"What question mark"

"Gina question marks are not emojis you can't just add them in speech" Amy said clearly frustrated by her co-workers blatant lack of respect for the oral expression.

"Idc exclamation mark" Gina's eyes stayed glued to her iPhone as she was currently tracking her South Asian followers. "What does idc even mea- you know what, it's irrelevant, have you noticed anything weird about Jake recently?" Amy was genuinely worried. Her fiancé hasn't said a word all morning (he hasn't even told Boyle what he had for breakfast).

"Now that you mention it..." she trailed off for about a minute before Amy finally snapped "what? Gina hello?! GINA"

"Whoa whoa, what's with the volume Santiago" Sargent Jeffords intervened. "Idk, idc tired emoji, sleep emoji, and bed emoji"

"Sargent is Jake acting weird to you?" Amy said ignoring Gina. "Weirder than normal? Terry didn't really talk to him today but he did-"

The conversation ended as a loud siren erupted in the precinct causing nearly everyone to jump (the exception being Scully who was unsurprising preoccupied by a microwave pizza). "This is Jake Peralta speaking as you may know Thanksgiving is tommo-"

"Turkey day"

"Yes, well thanks for interrupting my dramatic speech Charles-"

"Your welcome"

"Charles I was being sarcastic"

"I know I was also being sarcastic, I thought this was going to be like a back and forth so I can-"

"Anyway as you all may know Turkey day is tomorrow and you have all been invited to my home to-"

"Our home"

"Yes Amy our home but sadly the venue has changed, Amy don't freak ou-"

"WHAT? JAKE DID YOU BURN THE HOUSE" she yelled with a frightening glaze in her eyes. "No, I did not set fire to our house, why would you even think that??" Amy shrugged opening her mouth to explain.

"No, let me finish. We can talk about the lack of trust in our relationship later. My parents are in town and they want to meet all of you so I decided a turkey day dinner would be the best way to introduce everyone, any questions?" Jake smiled nervously looking around the room and fidgeting with his badge. Everyone stared at him for some reason (a reason he most definitely knew weather he'd admit it or not).

"Jake what is the real reason for this spectacle, we have all met your parents countless times" Captain Holt stated. "Well theoretically you've met my biological parents, I started talking to them again when I became a detective, but my adoptive parents practically raised me" "wait how don’t I know about this?" Amy was baffled, she had made countless binders on Jake's past (well in reality she’d only made 11....12 if you count the one on Jake's grandparents).

"No one cares about you Amy WhAT AbOuT mE??? I'm Jake's best friend how did I not know of these 'adoptive parents'" Charles overdramatically yelled, using air quotes on the 'adoptive parents' section. "Guys he's obviously joking, right Jakey?" Gina had finally looked up from her phone.

"I'm not joking"

"Jake I grew up with you I think I would know if you had adoptive parents"

"You remember how after my grandma died I left for boarding school for 4 years and only came home during summer break"

Gina narrowed her eyes "yeah..."

"Well I was actually living with my adoptive parents, they took me from Karen and Rodger and let me visit them every summer" Jake said, making finger guns at the end of his sentence, all while looking surprisingly proud of himself. "Who adopted you?" Rosa asked.

"Where did you come fro...oh shit I have to go!" Jake looked at his watch visibly panicked. He rushed to his table, grabbed his jacket and turned to leave "after grandma, my mom took me to therapy and my therapist decided to foster me, it's a really long story I don’t have time to get into”

"Just be at the address by 7. Amy, I already told your parents about the change in plans and I'll be staying the night with my parents sooo… "

Amy was practically hyperventilating at this point, she had to meet Jake's parents AGAIN and this time without a binder, wItHOuT A BiNdEr!!!!

"Amy stop panicking, the reason I didn't tell you is because I didn’t want you to overthink it and my dad isn't really a fan of someone looking into his past"

"Byeeeeeeee" Jake all but ran out, leaving the 99 to speculate amongst themselves.

It was 6.55 and the nine-nine (excluding Terry, Rosa, Charles and Scully but including Amy's parents and Kevin) were waiting outside what could be considered a mansion, questioning if they had the right address.

"Amy what did you find?" The captain's voice was as monotone as ever, surprising literally no one. "They have almost no records. Hannibal Lecter was Jake's only therapist but other then that there’s barely any information on file"

Camila shifted, uninterested in the topic "Well I brought a turkey just in case this turns out to be a train wreck like the last time" Camila had indeed brought another turkey and sides (and plates for some absurd reason).

"We can't go in blind, we need more information" Holt sounded guarded and he had every right to be. He thought he knew Jake well, and as much as he hated it, he couldn't stop himself from feeling slightly betrayed.

Gina took her phone out, quickly typing in the name “ ‘Hannibal Lecter and William Graham, the murder husbands', that’s the first thing that comes up when you search Hannibal... the second is 'Hannibal the cannibal'" Gina swallowed.

Kevin paused, that name was familiar. He couldn’t recall where he had heard it but it was familiar nonetheless.

“Husbands?” Camila asked, only to have the entire group glare at her. “I just didn’t expect husbands” she said clearly trying to explain her thought process, “Thank god I brought food” she whispered under her breath.

It felt like more needed to be addressed but before the conversation could go any further, the front door opened to a clean and groomed Jake, "I thought I heard voices, come on in" Jake opened the door further, ushering everyone into the two story house. "DAD, THEY'RE HERE" Jake hollered with his usual Jake-ness. "Inside voices darling" a man who looked utterly misplaced came out from a room one would expect to be the dining room, a pack of dogs trailing behind him.

"You must be...Amy, Victor, Camila...Captain Holt, Kevin...and of course the infamous Gina Lenetti. Am I right?" He wasn't looking anyone in the eye, which was slightly odd.

"I'm Will, Jake's dad".
