Shinso didn’t have the most spacious arrangement but it was enough for him to lay in the middle of. It was an eight by eight slab of concrete with one door out and more concrete for roofing. Except his door wasn’t made of wood but of metal bars similar to a prison cell. His walls matched, being nothing more than bars that Shinso could barely fit his arm through. His little prison cell gave him no privacy from everyone around him. He wasn’t supposed to be able to hide himself away, he was the merchandise.
It’s been a while since he was taken but Shinso was never good at telling time. Maybe two months? Three? It could be as much as five for all he knew but trying to count his days would only make him more depressed.
Someone heard of his quirk through the grapevine and decided it was too good to be unused. He left for school one day and didn’t make it down the block before something slid into his skin, spreading something so cold it burned in his veins.
He woke up in a dark room, not the one he was in now. He was unbound and seemed unharmed. Standing up, he realized his shoes had been taken. He twisted his head around the room trying to gain his bearings and he noticed the heavy restriction he felt around his jaw.
That was the first time he’d woken up to the muzzle.
He touched it all over trying to make heads or tails of it. It wasn’t cold when he woke up, it was on so long while he was out that it now matched his body heat. The gag didn’t budge in the slightest though when he tried to remove it, in fact his jaw was clamped shut. The metal felt like strips layered on top of each other, making a sort of plating. It wrapped around his lower neck and reached up and over his nose. It wrapped itself all the way around his neck and face, only making divots for his ears.
He couldn’t find a seam or lock that could hint on how to remove it but below and a bit in front of his ears, Shinso could feel the layers of metal break into circles with the left side having a keyhole.
He didn’t know it then but that was how the muzzle pulled down the section of metal over his mouth. The functions of his quirk were known but nobody wanted to risk a slip of the tongue, kept him better controlled as well. That wasn’t the only benefit of it that was explained to him and anyone who expressed interest in renting his ‘services’.
Fingers tapped against the bars signalling him to get up and act presentable.
A formal dresser man led a group of people up the cell. Having done it before, Shinso brushed himself off the ground and approached them, keeping enough between him and the bars that he couldn’t be touched from the other side.
“This ones very useful for stealth or less violent missions. A voice based brainwashing quirk that is activated when someone answers a question of his. The device around his face keeps him from speaking unless the mouthpiece is unlocked using a key given upon the start of your contract with us. The device not only acts as a muzzle but in the event of rebellion or escape, which he has never attempted might I add, it’s equipped with a tracker to quickly pin him down. I’ll start taking early bids.”
Voices poured over each other making various offers, asking for availability on different dates. So many people have used him before. Shinso knows they’ll all probably have turns with his quirk. To have turns making him do things to others and control others, trying to use him as the villain everyone thinks he is or at least thought he was.
When you can’t speak or interact with anyone else you ask questions about when you could. Did everyone just assume he left? Nobodies come for him.
He’ll be fine he reassured himself
He just has to wait.
