She sighed in contentment, feeling boneless and sated while her hand traced the scars that ran down the wizard’s naked abdomen. Her head was right on top of his chest, tucked underneath his chin, and she revelled on the sound of his rapid heartbeats that were proof of how much she affected him – just like he affected her, going by the way her own heart refused to settle down.
It was a little ironic how safe he made her feel. How much she craved his touch and his presence. How she loved to be alone with him, with their legs tangled together and their bodies as close as they could be.
Very unexpected, to say the least.
But there was something about Draco Malfoy that made her feel entirely comfortable and relaxed. Something that she hadn't felt with anyone else before – not even Harry and Ron.
Perhaps it was the fact that he never expected or demanded anything out of her – she didn’t need to be a walking encyclopedia for him, nor did she ever had to act as the voice of reason around him. And though he definitely said awful things to her in the past, he never actually made her cry (nor did he call himself her friend back then, either).
From underneath her, she felt him move – muscles rippling under his skin as he adjusted his hold on her, while his eyes were still closed from the previous exertions, but she could see the cheeky smile on his flushed face (so sincere and so very different from the usual sneers and smirks he always had on his face), despite the darkness of the empty classroom they were in. She smiled to herself, softly kissing the corner of his lips as his chest vibrated with a baritone laugh.
It was even more unexpected that Hermione Granger would end up in a full blown relationship with Draco right at the start of their last year at Hogwarts. But at that moment, she couldn't care less for what people expected out of her.
They found each other back in Hogwarts to complete their education in an impromptu ‘Eighth Year’ – as all the students were issued by the Ministry of Magic to return, much to Harry and Ron’s chagrin (and Gods, if she were to hear about how 'unfair' it was that they didn't get to jump straight to Auror training, she was going to scream).
For Hermione, however, she was just glad to be able to see the school one last time before setting out to the real Wizarding World - to form a sense of closure, at least.
At first, it had been strange – and even heartbreaking – for everyone to walk back on the familiar hallways. They all knew what had happened and there was evidence of the battle all over the castle, with charred walls and fallen stones there as proof of what Hogwarts had gone through. But the HeadMistress did what she could to support the students and the professors alike, ensuring plenty of sessions with mind healers and group therapies that helped them all cope with the trauma.
And as the days progressed, people gradually adapted to this new reality – they moved on with a new sense of kinship, having fought (and survived) in a war together.
Though the war probably left eternal scars in everyone's minds and bodies, it was comforting to know that they would all be able to move on. Even the people that were stuck on the wrong side of the battle.
Namely, Draco and the Slytherins.
Draco ( Malfoy, at the time) approached her first, in the first week of term. Looking tired and defeated, like he hadn’t slept for days (which was probably accurate, given the circumstances). He begged for forgiveness in a stuttered, but heartfelt speech and she couldn’t do much aside from nod and hold back tears as she accepted that they could all leave their past behind them.
And though she never thought her interaction with him would go any further than that, she soon proved herself wrong by orbiting around him the following weeks.
While she happily agreed to forgive him, others weren’t so kind and it was rather obvious that Malfoy was being ostracised by every other eight year, aside from his Slytherin friends – and now herself.
Slowly, she started to invite Malfoy to study together in a quieter spot at the library, and sometimes under a secluded space at the edge of the Black Lake. And somehow, a friendship blossomed from there – hanging out during their free times to read and discuss their books and favourite authors. They’d study, bicker, and joke around as if they had been friends since forever.
Hermione found that it was fascinating to introduce him to muggle things. Books, movies, games, inventions, while Draco is eager to tell her about what it's like to grow up in a magical world.
In hindsight, it was clear that the chemistry was there – subtle, lingering touches, sneaking glances at each other during classes and conversations that she'd never share with anyone else but him.
She didn't even remember what they were doing when they kissed for the first time – only that it was sweet and passionate and it left her wanting for more – a sentiment that was gladly reciprocated.
Now... if only she could tell her friends about her and Draco.
Meeting up at the library past curfew, the rendezvous at empty classrooms, broom closets and quiet alcoves had been fun at first and exhilarating, to a certain extent. But soon the novelty of hiding together faded out to an inconvenience and all the lying to her friends about her whereabouts and plans for the weekend were starting to wear her out.
Was it too much to ask to be able to go on a Hogsmeade date with her own boyfriend?
"A sickle for your thoughts?" She heard him ask, breaking her line of thought as his hand slowly massaged the underside of her breasts while he pressed a kiss to her hair.
"Oh – it's nothing."
"Come on now. I can see the gears in your head turning. You have a very particular thinking face."
She turned on her spot to meet his mercurial eyes, nibbling on her lower lip and grimacing a little. "I think we should tell our friends about us."
“Ah,” he muttered under his breath, tucking her under his chin again. And though she could feel a wave of tenderness blooming in her chest, she was aware that he was probably just rolling his eyes, going by the tone of his voice. “This again.”
“Yes. This again.”
“Can’t we go just one day withou having some sort of discussion on going public?”
“It’s important, Draco,” she frowned, removing herself from his hold as she sat up on the bed they had transfigured earlier. Her thighs pressing on each of his sides as she straddled him. “Aren’t you tired of all the sneaking around?”
“Not really, no.” He shrugged as his smile morphed into a smirk, and his hands descended to squeeze her bum. "I kind of like it, you know? This way, I got you all to myself."
"Cheeky git," she whispered, batting the hand away. She was absolutely not going to let herself be distracted by him. "I'm serious, Draco. NEWTS will be in less than a month and then school will be officially over. I don't want to sneak around forever."
His eyes grew darker after a second, clearing his throat. "Granger... You know I can't do this to you –"
"And you know I don't care about other people's opinions!"
"Doesn't mean that they won't bite you in the arse for it!" He hissed back, pausing to breathe in deeply. When he started again, there was an edge of hurt in his voice. "Seriously. It's our reputation we're talking about – And the fact that mine would ruin yours. You know what people say –"
She stopped his rant by swooping down and kissing his lips, feeling him freeze for a moment before responding with just as much eagerness – mouth open, with teeth bumping together and tongues pushing through. When she pulled back to come up for air, he followed with a last nip to her plump lips and a low groan that was often by them taking things further.
She ran a hand through his dishevelled hair, enjoying the silky texture under her fingertips, before pressing another, chaste kiss to the corner of his lips and adding with a sincere smile. "You’re not evil. You're not a Death Eater."
"That's not what people believe," he said in a breathless whisper. His large hands rested on her thighs, holding her in place almost desperately, but she could feel his growing hardness pressing on the curve of her arse. “And I'm afraid I lack the recklessness all you Gryffindors have when doing something you believe is the moral right.”
“I think you mean bravery ,” she chuckled as she saw his face contort in a wave of pleasure. He was clearly trying not to give in to the desire. He wanted to talk things out – which was definitely the right thing to do, but also incredibly tempting to just tease him through it.
She rolled her hips around and shuffled back to coat her own growing wetness to his hard member, settling for a very shallow rocking motion that absolutely tortured them both.
"Exactly,” he groaned in between gasps. “I'm not brave."
"You can be. To fight in a war requires bravery. No matter the side."
"I was scared the whole time,” he scoffed, with his hands now travelling up her waist and to her breasts to play with her pert nipples – making her moan, whine and squirm under his touch. “I just wanted for me and my mother to survive."
"And look at you now. You made it! Sounds like going public would be a walk in the park."
"Granger –"
"Hermione," she corrected, pausing her rocking to glare at him. "The least you could do is call me by name, Draco ."
"No can do. You'll always be Granger to me… Sounds way better than Malfoy, that’s for sure.”
"What do you mean?" She raised a brow at him, watching him smirk like the cat that got the cream. But before she could question him further – or do anything else, for that matter, he had already tugged her down to capture her lips in another hungry kiss, using his body weight to fling her around and pin her to the mattress.
“Malfoy!”
“Weren't you just now making a point to call me by my first name?”
“Only when you behave!” She laughed in surprise, followed by a breathy moan when he used his mouth on her neck, suckling on her pulse.
Hermione trembled and purred beneath him, taking in the scent of musk and citrus from his cologne as she wrapped her arms around him and used her fingertips to draw mindless patterns to his solid back, while he worked on her skin by peppering sweet kisses down her collarbone and to the valley of her breasts.
“And where’s the fun in that?” Draco gave out a horse chuckle, as he snaked a hand down her parted legs to caress a finger to her slick folds. “I know you like it when I act up.”
“Not at all! You know how much I keep telling you to – Ah! Fuck –” She inhaled sharply at the shivers of sudden pleasure she felt when he used a thumb over her already sensitive clit at the same time that one of his gloriously long fingers entered her, prompting her to move her own hips against his hand to deepen the friction that she was now craving so much.
In a swift movement he moved back on the bed, peppering a trail of kisses down her neck, past her breasts, her navel and then finally right above her aching core. He used his tongue to draw a pattern to her nub, in between obscene licks and languid suckles which left her trembling and crying for him to make her come.
“I don’t know, looks like you’re enjoying yourself plenty,” he had the audacity to flash one of his lopsided smirks at her, stopping his ministrations only moments before she reached the edge.
“Git!” She hissed when he started to build her up a second time with his fingers, only to pull away once again to hear her moan and cry some more.
“That’s not my name,” he rasped whilst holding her hips down to stop her from grinding against his mouth.
"Malfoy!"
"Wrong again," he growled, pulling back his tongue and fingers again. "I want to hear you beg for me – Beg for my cock."
If she wasn't so desperate to come, she would've probably hexed him for his words – or perhaps put on a bit more of a fight to his endless teasing. But as her inner walls were already spasming with the disappointing sensation of being utterly empty , she started to beg him to take her, chanting his name over and over.
“Gods, please, I want to come. Fuck, just let me come and I swear, I’ll be good, I – oh, Draco!”
Mercifully, he didn't refuse her pleas, using his strength to manoeuvre her closer to him – with her legs still on his shoulders and her hands now grasping his hair. She felt the blunt head of his cock pressing to the seam of her folds for a couple of seconds, spreading the precum and her own juices on his length before plunging in as deeply as he could.
“Fuck me –” he croaked when she squirmed from underneath him. “Always so fucking tight. Fuck. So perfect for my cock. So perfect for me – My good girl.”
She looked up to meet his eyes, pupils blown wide with lust and pleasure. Merlin, he was so handsome. With his broad taut shoulders, brow furrowed with concentration and brazen smirk as he started to thrust into her in a growing frantic rhythm, shifting his angle so that he kept on pressing on a sweet spot that made her see stars.
She could only moan and nod her head at his praise, feeling her chest blooming with emotion that heightened the thrill of being together as intimately as they were. His cock stretched her out perfectly as he rutted into her. In a sudden need to hold onto him closer, she sank her teeth to the column of his neck, not caring if it would lead to marks in his pale unblemished skin.
“You were made for me, weren’t you?”
“Ah! Yes – Yours!” She mewled in response. “More! Draco – Please!”
“So greedy. You want everyone to know I’m fucking you, don’t you? Is this why you want to go public?” He growled between clenched teeth, thrusting harder, faster and deeper than ever until she couldn't take it anymore, she felt her walls clenching around him as heat spread all over her, with her toes curling and her legs trembling as Draco fucked her through her orgasm, still whispering filthy words to her skin.
“I do! Ooh –” She gasped, closing her eyes and pressing her nails to his back in search for anything to keep her grounded. “ I love you !”
At her words, they both freeze to gape at each other.
Ah shite.
Did she say that out loud?
She felt her cheeks and neck warming up, in what was certainly a rather embarrassing flush (which was ridiculous, considering that she was completely okay with him being inside of her until then). But then again, what sort of idiot confesses their love in the middle of a quickie right before class? Good Godric, how she wished the grounds could just open up and swallow her whole.
“I mean –”
“Sweet buggering Circe,” he moaned, with a sharp jerk to his hips that elicited a loud gasp from both of them. “I love you – I love you so much,” he continued to thrust, leaning down to kiss her lips in between whispered words of adoration and breathless growls. She felt as if her heart was about to explode – feeling impossibly full with something far grander than just his cock. “I love your mind, your heart, your passion. Fuck Hermione – I love you .”
Oh Merlin, how she loved the way her name sounded on his lips.
"I love you too, Draco," she replied with equal fervour.
She kissed him again, feeling as if time itself stopped in its tracks – as she couldn't think of anything else aside from him, his lips and his hold on her. The way his cock kept pushing her to the edge of being overwhelmed in pleasure. The way the entire room seemed to be vibrating because of their passion. The way the air around them kept on ringing a sharp beeping noise in her ears. And the –
Wait a second.
Her eyes snapped open, just as she concentrated on the noise she thought she was hearing. And sure enough, on the corner of the classroom she could see Draco’s wand furiously wavering, trying to call for their attention.
In the back of her mind she was vaguely aware that they had placed an alarm charm on his wand so that they wouldn’t be late – which was great, except for the fact that she couldn’t really remember where they were supposed to be at that moment.
That is, until his wand echoed another ringing alarm that flashed an angry red light.
"Shite –" Hermione eyed her watch with a curse under her breath. "We're going to be late for DADA! McGonagall will kill us!" She used her hands to push a now very confused wizard away from her, and though it took a few jabs to his ribs for him to get the message, he soon slipped out of her with a disgruntled moan.
“Can’t we just skip it? We’re kind of busy right now.”
“ You can’t. Not with the Wizengamot breathing down your neck. You know this, Draco – I’m not going to let you go to Azkaban just because of a shag.”
“It’s a bloody good shag, though!”
“Not good enough!” She glared at him, jumping off the bed before he could try anything else – feeling only a little mortified by the fact that she needed to use the other desks as support for her still-trembling legs. “Think of McGonagall! She’d be so disappointed to lose you as a student.”
“Gods! Did you really have to mention the old bat? What a way to kill the mood," he complained with a roll of his eyes. And though it looked like he wanted to protest further, he still got up from the bed to dress himself, handing her her own clothes and using his wand to turn the bed back into the mess of desks that it used to be.
“I promise I’ll make it up to you later,” she winked at him, finding her wand abandoned on the floor and casting a cleaning charm on both of them – which worked well enough, though she would’ve preferred to take a shower anyway.
“I’ll hold you to that, witch,” he gruffed out, with a slight grin tugging at the corner of his swollen lips.“What’s today's topic again?”
"A review on the Patronus Charm."
"Bloody great."
"Come on now! We know you can do this – You've been practising for months!”
"But I have –"
"A good heart. No matter what has happened in the past. I wouldn’t be here right now if I didn’t know you’re a good person, Draco,” she pressed a small kiss to his cheek. “I love you.” She found she rather liked to say those words to him.
He smiled at her, raking his fingers through her riotous curls, and after a long pause, he nodded. “I’ll see you later. There's… I think we’re going to have to talk about –”
“Yes. Later.”
— — —
She waited ten minutes alone in the empty classroom before making her way to McGonagall's class so that it wouldn't raise anybody's suspicions. And though the professor looked at her with a bit of disappointed glare for her slight tardiness, Hermione managed to throw her off by showing her a pile of books – Better to pretend she lost herself in her studying rather than being late because she was being shagged senseless by the local ‘bad boy’.
Her eyes flew to the place the Slytherins usually sit at, finding Draco already seated with a perfectly aloof air surrounding him – had she not known her boyfriend so well, she'd never be able to tell that he was so bloody nervous about conjuring a Patronus.
"'Mione, over here," there was a poor attempt on whispering on Ron's part, on the other side of the classroom, beckoning her to move and sit next to him and Harry with enthusiastic waves. From the corner of her eye, she saw Draco rolling his eyes and whispering something that made Nott and Zabini laugh.
But she didn't have a chance to try to hear what they were talking about. The Professor started her lecture, after a quick wave of her hand that made all the students pay attention to her.
"Many of you might be familiar already with the Patronus charm. It was very useful for us during the war – working both as a means of protection spell but also as a way to deliver messages –"
It didn't escape Hermione's notice how the older witch kept sneaking glances at her and her best friends, as she kept referring back to the war during her lecture.
In fact, it looked as if all eyes were on them now – looks of adoration and awe that none of the three actually cared for too much (well, she and Harry, at least. Ron was way too happy with the fangirls he had gathered over that year to be bothered by all the attention that came with the status of being a war hero).
But of course the Golden Trio wasn’t the only thing that caught everyone’s attention whenever the war was brought up. Though many tried to be subtle about it, the sneers and scowls that were directed at Draco were too obvious to ignore.
And Merlin, the way he looked so… defeated whenever someone reminded him of the Mark in his arm.
She wished she could do anything to help. Gods – If the git wasn’t so hellbent on keeping them a secret, she would’ve hexed everyone in the room that dared to look at him as though he had chosen to become a Death Eater.
What did these people know? She doubted anyone would’ve done differently if they were in his shoes, anyway.
"And remember," McGonagall's voice continued to drone out, as she pulled her wand out to conjure up the silvery-blue cat as demonstration. "A Patronus is a charm highly related to your emotions. To cast it successfully, one must use a good, happy memory."
After her quick explanation, the students were encouraged to try out the charm and soon flashes of silvery light surrounded the room, along with all sorts of animals summoned by the more experienced classmates.
It felt nostalgic, in a way – as she remembered her D.A. days and all the adventures she and her friends used to end up in.
"Malfoy's not even trying ," Seamus sounded downright giddy as he watched the other wizard in the distance, with his devious fox circling around the room as if to taunt anyone that hadn’t managed to cast the spell yet.
Her eyes flew to where the Slytherins had gathered, and she watched Zabini producing only a couple of blue-ish sparks out of his wand and Nott cursing after his third failed attempt. She saw the girls further on the side, talking to each other with forlorn scowls as they clearly couldn’t cast it either.
Draco, for his part, wasn’t even trying to reach for his wand.
“As if he could cast a Patronus. I doubt he even has a happy memory to use at all!” Ron rolled his eyes, just loud enough for her and Harry to hear. But as he continued, his bitter tone was loud enough for everyone in the room to hear “Bloody Death Eater scum.”
Hermione clenched her jaw and balled her fists to stop herself from throwing her canaries at that idiot again.
"I mean, if I were him, I wouldn't try either. He knows he can't do it. Why bother?" Harry agreed with a disdainful scowl and by the way several of the other Gryffindors kept giggling and whispering among themselves, it was clear that it was a sentiment shared by many.
The wizard in question was now looking at them with a painfully cold stare that made her heart tighten in concern. Their eyes met briefly, and despite her best judgement, she flashed him an encouraging smile and mouthed yet another ‘I love you’ that thankfully no one else but him noticed.
“Mr. Malfoy,” McGonagall approached him with her chin held up high, at the same time as she managed to quiet down the entire Gryffindor side with an admonishing look. “I'm sure you're aware that your participation during classes will weigh on your final marks."
"I know," he nodded with pursed lips. There was a slight hesitation before he pointed his wand to the air, but his voice didn’t waver when he shouted out ‘ Expecto Patronum ’ and he didn’t even flinch when the silvery light burst out of the tip of his wand.
She could've sworn she'd be blinded by the powerful light, however – even as she did expect him to succeed, she didn't imagine it would be so bright, and strangely warm. Hermione was aware that Harry and Ron were complaining about the light as well, but they didn't have enough time to elaborate when they all heard a roar booming inside the room.
When the light seemed to dim down enough for them to stop shielding their eyes, all of the students found a wispy silvery-blue dragon standing right before the now extremely smug wizard who conjured it.
The classroom fell into a chaotic disarray. Understandably so.
There were gasps and laughter from the students. Many of those who were sneering at him before only seemed to frown in distaste while others were shouting something about Draco having found a way to bribe his own magical core for him to be able to produce a Patronus. The other Slytherins clapped him on the back with enthusiastic cheers, and someone from the Gryffindor side could be heard insisting that no matter how many patronuses he produced in his life, he’d eternally be rotten inside.
Hermione, though, was just watching him flaunt his dragon with amusement. There was a proud smile playing on her lips, as she fought the urge to leap from her chair and jump on him to kiss him.
Merlin, they were going to have a bit of a celebration as soon as classes were over, that much she was sure.
“Bloody hell,” Ron sputtered with his face reddening up.
“A dragon. Unbelievable!” Harry added, gaping at the scene as the Patronus finally faded away. “Figured as much. Of course his Patronus would represent his own name. Narcissistic git.”
“It’s still a Patronus,” she couldn’t resist a dig, making the pair look at her with raised brows. “Perhaps both of you were wrong to assume he hadn’t changed. Maybe he isn’t as evil as you thought he was after all.”
“Malfoy didn’t change!”
“He’s still an arse!”
“I can’t believe you have the gall to defend him, Hermione! After everything he did to you?”
She bit the inside of her cheek to stop any comments about what, exactly, had he been doing to her lately, and instead she returned her attention to the Professor, as she tried to regain control of the room.
“Settle down, everyone!” McGonagall shouted, and only after she used her most authoritarian tone and threatened to curb house points and cancel Quidditch games did the students finally stop gossiping about the still glimmering dragon dancing around the room.
“Maybe it’s a mirror trick. No way Malfoy actually pulled that off,” Harry hissed one last thing at the same time that everyone else quieted down, which called for the older witch’s attention.
“Mr. Potter? Perhaps it’s your turn to show everyone the charm. Mr. Weasley and Miss Granger as well. I’m sure you three are very familiar with the charm.”
“Of course, professor,” Ron had a smug grin on his face, as he conjured his playful jack russell terrier, zooming around the room and chasing after the stag effortlessly produced by Harry.
Even their Patronuses seemed to bicker with Malfoy’s every now and again by the silver dragon, with barks and snarls, and the displays of silvery antlers directed to the growling beast.
“Well, then, Miss Granger?” McGonagall motioned for her to also try out the charm – something that they all knew was unnecessary. But she knew from the HeadMistress’ proud smile that she needed to demonstrate the spell to show off her powers – to inspire the other students in the room.
Well, it wouldn’t be a problem anyway. Truth be told, the Patronus charm was by far one of her favourite spells to cast, and she often conjured up her chirpy otter to cheer her up whenever she felt upset.
Hermione closed her eyes to think of a happy memory. Usually, she thought about the day she received her Hogwarts letter – her introduction to a completely new world, where magic was real and she was a witch.
But now she had a different memory to use. A fresh memory of large hands holding her close, warm lips kissing her skin.
A memory of mercurial eyes peering down to hers with adoration as the man she loved admitted that he loved her too. The image of his naked flesh still slithering over hers as they showed each other what they felt for each other.
“ Expecto Patronum. ”
As she expected, there was a flash of light coming out of her wand. But when another roar echoed on the walls, she opened her eyes in confusion – another dragon was now occupying the room, a little smaller than the first one, but a dragon still. Was Draco’s Patronus messing with her own? Didn’t it dissolve in the air already?
And where was her otter?
Harry and Ron looked like they had been petrified, and the other students didn’t look any less shocked – with widened eyes and mouths hanging open in disbelief.
Draco looked as if he was having a very turbulent internal battle, looking as if he wanted to laugh, boast, scream and cry all at the same time – both because it was rather obvious to everyone in the room that they were together now, and because it was just more proof of what she felt for him.
From behind him, she saw Nott whispering something to him, nudging at his sides, and he seemed to consider his options for a second, before he conceded and conjured up another Patronus of his own.
And as soon as the other dragon materialised, it flew right in the direction of Hermione’s one, as they danced and swirled in the air together before fading away.
“What the fuck,” she heard someone shout in the background, and it seemed like it was enough to break everyone else from their trance, as several voices were raised, both to exclaim surprise and demand explanations.
“Class is dismissed,” McGonagall’s tired sigh was enough to show how there was obviously no more hope to get anything done when it came to a bunch of eighteen year-olds and their fascination with school relationships and drama. At the professor’s words, two things happened, that Hermione had barely had the time to process.
One: Someone grabbed her by the wrist and tugged her along as they both bolted out of the classroom.
Two: Harry, Ron and a lot of the other Gryffindors were chasing after them.
For what reason, she wasn’t completely sure. But going by Ron’s very ugly shade of puce that took over his entire face, she was sure she didn’t want to find out.
“This way,” Draco guided her through the hallways and slowly she came to recognize the path he was taking her – to a small abandoned storage room, concealed underneath a darker alcove and practically forgotten by the rest of the school. A perfect place to hide. And to do other things too, whenever they had a little time to spare.
"Let's just stay here for now and wait for the dust to settle."
“Good idea,” she smiled, though she wasn’t paying much attention to the commotion that could be heard far away from them. Her attention was completely enraptured by the wizard now holding her close. Her head was resting on his chest as she hugged him, and she could feel his frantic heartbeat again -- probably due to the fact that they had to make a run for it, but she also knew he was just so ecstatic by the Patronus he conjured up.
And by the form of her Patronus as well.
“I told you so,” she nudged him in the chest. “You have a good heart.”
“I do, don’t I?” He beamed, and with a sudden movement, he lifted her up and plonked her down at a set of wooden crates. “I couldn’t have done it without you.”
“That’s not true.”
“It is. The memory I used – It was from today.”
A shy smile crept on her lips, as she shifted herself on top of the crate for a more comfortable position. Somehow, Draco was already kneeling before her, resting his head on top of her stomach, with his hands squeezing her thighs.
“So was mine,” she kissed him on his forehead.
“And I suppose we could make use of this free time now?” A darker look flashed in his eyes. “We did leave some unfinished business earlier.”
“Yes we did,” she laughed, swooping down to capture his lips.
— — —
She wasn't sure how much time had passed since they hid together in the storage room. All Hermione cared about was the way his lips peppered kisses down her throat, the way his hand clutched and tugged her curls, and the way she felt a growing bulge pressing against her groin.
It wasn’t as if she cared, either way – if they had been like that for hours, minutes or mere seconds. She just hoped that moment would last forever.
But of course her rotten luck wouldn't let her have this, as they were suddenly interrupted by loud and angered bangs right at the door.
“You better not be shagging in there, or else I will throw up!”
“Fuck me. I’m going to kill those wankers,” Draco groaned, refusing to let go of her, even as she stood up in alarm at the sound of Ron’s voice.
“We’re going to open this door,” Harry’s voice followed, a bit more unsure than the other’s bellows. “Please be decent.”
Reluctantly, she stepped away from her boyfriend’s grasp to adjust the buttons of her shirt and her askew tie, as Draco did the same. Without giving her friends a chance to barge in, she flung the door open with a glare. “How did you find us so fast?”
Harry waved the Marauder’s map in his hands, looking both embarrassed and angry at the same time.
“Bugger.”
“I really hope this is some sort of elaborate prank,” he continued, stepping aside to allow her to get out in the open, though the hallway was thankfully devoid of other people.
“Why would it be?” She crossed her arms and from the corner of her eye she saw Draco looming over her, probably with a sneer as bitter as her own. “I’d hardly joke about loving someone so much my Patronus bloody changed to match his.”
“ Love ,” Ron spluttered. “Blimey, Hermione!”
“Yes. And I can tell you about it later, if you want – All I’m asking right now is for you to trust my judgement.”
They looked as if they wanted to argue (and knowing them, they were probably going to question her sanity, or ask if she was cursed or drugged in some manner). But ultimately, they dropped all their questioning as she wrapped her hand around Draco’s
“Just so you know, Malfoy – If you hurt her, we will murder you.”
“Empty threats hardly bother me, Potter,” he finally spoke, after a minute of evaluation of her two friends. “But you can rest easy knowing I would never hurt her.”
“And I don’t need anyone protecting my honour ,” she mocked with a roll of her eyes.
“Right,” Harry shifted his weight around, now looking more uncomfortable than anything else. “Look – We’ll be down at the Great Hall for dinner now. Will you join us?”
She looked to the side to see her boyfriend motioning with his back towards the door partially open behind them and she suddenly remembered that they had left unfinished business twice that day already.
“Actually, we’ll go eat later,” she winked at a smirking Draco, and as she turned to her friends, she was glad to notice they were already stepping back to leave them alone. Before they could go, however, she couldn’t help but tease them one last time.
“See you in about an hour! We’ll send you a Patronus after we are done!”
