Chapter Text

It wasn’t a good time to be calling Buddha.

Some bottom-tier assholes in K’s gang had trashed his restaurant while he was out on business and one of them had even gone as far as assaulting one of his employees. It was only natural that he got his boys and iced them in the middle of the burger shot parking lot.

Apparently they were important enough for K to come around with Randy and Ramee and they had a full out brawl at one point. It took a few hospital trips for everyone to calm down enough for a fragile truce to be called.

They parted ways and this was the first time Buddha has been able to sit in his favorite armchair in a couple of weeks. He lit up a joint and planned on having a meal while watching some generic action movie, but the second he started looking at takeout menus, his screen was overtaken by an unknown number flashing in his face.

“Can’t even have a second to myself, huh?” He scoffed and aggressively tapped the answer button. “Yeah, who the fuck is this?”

There was silence on the other end, followed by a heavy huff of breath.

“You gonna talk man, or are you just wasting my time?” He takes a drag of his joint. He’ll give this asshole until he’s releasing the smoke. He sets the J back down on the ashtray, still lit and straightens up, holding the smoke in as it bites through his lungs. Still nothing from this guy. He shakes his head and looks up, blowing the smoke out above him. It lingers in the air, slow to dissipate. He stares at it for a long moment. “Time’s up. Don’t call this number again unless you want me to get my nerds to track your location so I can come and personally kick your ass for wasting my time.”

“You need to come to Vice City.”

The deep voice with a southern twang was a shock to his ears, but only for a moment. “Yeah? Why’s that? Who the hell are you?”

“It’s Yuno.”

He feels the blood rush to his face as anger floods his system, but he keeps it at bay. “What do you mean by that? You’ve got to be more specific. You saying you’ve got him? Or are you trying to pretend that you are him? Unless… Did you hurt my boy? Because if you have--.”

“No, I didn’t hurt him. He’s definitely here in Vice City. It’s just… We… No, I fucked up.”

As if that didn't immediately send a whole new set of questions burning through him. Buddha snatched his joint up and took another drag. For his nerves. “Going to need some clarification on that, guy. And tell me your fucking name before this conversation goes any further."

"I'm Crops Gus. I'm a friend of Yuno's."

"Yeah, so is half of the city. How'd you end up in Vice City?"

"It's sort of a long story. You might want to start making arrangements."

Buddha was losing his patience with this guy and really wished he'd just give him the info he was looking for. "Give me a moment.” He snapped out then put the call on hold and strode down the hall. He shoved Tony’s door open and yanked the comforter off the man. “Hey, book me a flight to Escobar International.”

Tony squinted up at Lang before he turned over, blindly reaching for his cover. “M’Not your fucking assistant, dumbass.”

“Yuno’s down in Vice City. Now wake up and book the flight while I try to get some more details out of this guy.” That got Tony up and on his computer in a few seconds. Buddha watched in silence before giving his okay to whatever Tony pulled up. He pulled up his phone and took it off hold. “Okay asshole, flight booked. Now start talking.”
