Chapter Text
Timeless Moon
Chapter 1
Bella felt like shit, although in reality it was maybe the fifth or sixth day of feeling like shit. She was fine at the start of the summer; one could say ecstatic even. How could she not be when she was finally moving in with Charlie. The man was a godsend.
Now she loves her mother, honest, but Renee had always been….flighty for a lack of better word and when Bella started growing in size, losing that dreaded baby fat, and eating as if she was starved the woman became…distant.
Actually no. That would be too nice. Renee all but pushed her onto the plane to forks herself to go live with Charlie once she settled down, or as close as she would allow to settling, with Phil. So the start of her summer was spent moving back into her old childhood home with her quiet, but ever so awkward father.
Then came the even more awkward conversation that no child even has. Yaknow, the standard “you’re not human and neither am I” talk. Apparently her father’s side of the family were a type of shape-shifter or “soul walker” as he called it and it passed down from father to son.
He wasn’t even sure if she would get the gene since her chromosomes were entirely out of whack, but seeing her tall, defined frame cemented the fact for him. Her Y chromosomes won out and She’d be a soul walker like him. Which leads her to her current predicament: laying tangled in her sheets with her hair sticking to her head.
”Bells…?” The knock and deep bass tone of her father were probably quiet to any normal human, but to Bella they were thunderously loud and her answering groan made him push open her bedroom door. “I brought you some food kiddo. I know its rough—“ A pained snort cut off his response and her building hostility softened ever so slightly at his empathetic smile.
That’s right…Charlie already went through this. Buck up. The first part is the hardest. Her eyes met his forrest green ones and a quirk of a smile pulled at her lips “Are my eyes going to change too?” And just like that Charlie’s posture relaxed with a blinding grin.
”Brown is the standard before your first walk kid. Yes your eyes will change.” Once again the tension returned and he shuffled his feet. “Did you want me to stay with you today?”
”No Ch-Dad. Im good. If I need something I’ll give the guys a call.” The guys being Sam Uley and Paul Lahote. Charlie had introduced her before she got further into the change to the two wolf shifters and they got along well.
Charlie actually voiced his concerns about the odd friendship that Bella and Paul had sprung into, mostly because he could practically see the trouble they’d cause together. However, it didn’t seem to bother the man that much when all was said and done because he still gave Bella a gruff nod before heading off to the police station.
