Amusement Park Date and PDA

Summary:

“Are we,” Arakita starts, then glances away, cheeks turning red. “really boyfriends now?”

“I would say so.”

Notes:

This is the second part to this series, the first being Jealousy and Confessions. I didn't have much confidence to post this before but I think it turned out well despite I don't think I got Arakita's character right this time.
There will be other parts. Maybe two or three more. I haven't decided yet.

Work Text:

They had been on a few dates, though they were things that they could do that could be seen as hanging out in case they were caught together. It had happened once, in a cafe when they were having a lunch date, and the first-year climber had seen them outside and had became curious about why they were together when it was obvious to the club that they found each other annoying. Toudou told his fellow climber that he decided to at least try to get along with Arakita, adding in that the bickering was giving him a headache anyway. Arakita had snorted and had asked if Toudou was sure it was the bickering and not his stupid headbands. There was a small fight after that, though nothing to direct attention towards the two. Thankfully Manami bought it and left them alone, causing the two to sigh with relief.

They had been to the movies once, too, and Toudou nagged Arakita much like a mother would for adding too much butter on the popcorn. Even though he had to deal with the third-year climbers nagging from his food choices, he was thankful that he didn't complain over the movie choices. Horror movies were fine, even though Toduou jumped and screamed during some parts. Arakita was all too amused at this and later teased Toudou about his reactions towards the movie. Toudou would huff, and pout, telling Arakita to leave him alone since it was scary, which caused the all-rounder to laugh rather loudly as they went back to Hakone.

During these dates, Toudou would rarely message Makishima, which Arakita found strange though he never asked about it. He felt a little glad that Toudou wouldn't message the guy twenty-four seven, but he'd never admit it. Especially since he doesn't the other male to end up tease him for it.

They're at an amusement park today, a day where it isn't too crowded to avoid getting noticed by people. The already had been most of the roller coasters the park had to offer, and each time they got off, Arakita snorted at the fact Toudou would run to find a reflective surface or go to the bathroom to fix his hair. During the times Toudou ran to the bathroom, where they'd have a bit of privacy, Arakita would lean in and whisper about he thinks Toudou's hair is fine the way it is. It made the shorter males cheeks turn a slightly pink, and he thanked Arakita through a stammer, but fixed his hair regardless.

Toudou's sitting on a stool, going against children in a game where you squirt water at a target and whoever reaches the top the fastest wins. Arakita's leaning over his shoulder, telling him to aim better, which Toudou tries, and succeeds, ended up winning a stuffed animal that's hanging from the booth. He chooses one a stuffed cat, black, with beautiful blue eyes and a white ribbon tied into a bow around its neck. Once they start walking again, Toudou hands the cat to Arakita, not wanting to do it in front of the booth in case they got strange looks. Toudou wouldn't have cared, but Arakita would since them dating was supposed to be a secret.

“Why are you giving me this.” Arakita questions, though takes it, holding it up to stare into the blue beady eyes as they walked. “You won it. You're supposed to keep it.”

“During dates, a person usually wins something for their partner,” Toudou responds, giving a smile. “and since you're my boyfriend, you deserve something.”

Arakita stops for a second, the word boyfriend echoing through his mind. His cheeks are warming up a bit, and Toudou finally stops himself when he doesn't hear footsteps behind him. He turns, glancing at Arakita, and walks back to him, confusion written all over his face as he raises an eyebrow.

“What's the matter, Arakita?”

“Are we,” Arakita starts, then glances away, cheeks turning red. “really boyfriends now?”

“I would say so.” Toudou responds with a shrug. “We've been on a few dates, and they went okay. We haven't went 'I can't do this' during them either. So.. yeah, we're boyfriends.”

“..Fine. Just don't get too used to the word.”

“What word? Boyfriend? And why's that?” Toudou questions like it's a game of twenty questions. “Do you get sick from it like the word love?”

“No, it's not that,” Arakita responds but huffs. “you're going to end up saying it accidentally and we can't have that happening. At least not yet.”

“That's understandable. But when I can, I'm going to be saying it a lot!”

“Do as you damn please.”

Toudou grins and they start walking together again side by side, silence between them so the only thing they hear is the sounds of the amusement park. Screaming, crying, laughter, and so forth. It was nice, other than hearing distant chatter or foot steps when they went shopping, or just the sound of the movie playing when they are watching something at the movie theater. They end up stopping at one of the refreshment carts, grabbing something to drink and Arakita choosing something greasy. Toudou never did like the amusement park food, for the sake of all the calories they have, and he said that, too, when he asked if he wanted anything. Arakita just shrugged and muttered 'more for me' before biting into a deep fried pastry.

Once Arakita's finished with his pastry, he throws away the garbage, and Toudou tosses his empty bottle into one of the bins at some point. They had stopped by other booths, and Arakita hasn't won anything for Toudou, which makes him grumble, though after a while, he's unable to get another shot at winning something since it's becoming dark and the park is ready to close down. They're walking towards the entrance, and exit the park, then go to the trains so they could get back to Hakone. They're sitting next to each other, Arakita with the stuffed cat on his lap and Toudou's leaning on the side, waiting for their stop, a little impatient because he feels drowsy.

“Fuck, don't lay on that.” Arakita goes and wraps his arm around Toudou's head, tugging it over, resting it on his shoulder. “Your head is going to end up fucking hurting and I don't want to hear your complaints.”

“I thought you didn't want any PDA?” Toudou questions, eyes closing this time, though, since he's more comfortable. “Why now?”

“'cause it's fucking working out. You said so yourself, if it works out, can we try the shitty PDA. We can right now.”

“..Thank you, Arakita.”

“Whatever. Don't mention it.”
