Work Text:
The first time they held hands was on a movie night. The squad got together on a friday night after a rough week of training and school work. Everyone was exhausted and wanted to do something mind numbing and relaxing. Mina had suggested the group get together to watch some stupid movie that just came out.
“It will be fun!” is what Kirishima said when Bakugo asked why he would want to hang out with those extras. “Besides, how often do we get to do stuff like this together?”
Bakugo rolled his eyes huffing, “Fine.”
That's how he ended up on the couch next to Kirishima, sharing a bowl of popcorn and a blanket. The big idiot was always complaining about being cold even though he was wearing a hoodie. He would tuck his feet under himself and press his side into Bakugos trying to steal his body heat. The close proximity made Bakugo blush. “Here shitty hair,” pulling a fuzzy blanket over the two of them.
“Aw thanks bakubro!” Kirishima tucked the blanket around them, getting cozy.
Bakugo didn’t pay much attention to the movie nor did he pay attention to all the extras crowded around the TV. He was too busy focusing on Kirishima's leg pressed against his, how his shoulder just barely touched his, and how absolutely fucking adorable he looked wrapped up in the stupid fucking fuzzy blanket. He almost couldn’t handle it. When the fuck did his thoughts turn into sappy shit about his best friend? He was glad it was dark. No one could see how red his face was or how much he was sweating, repeatedly wiping his hands on his jeans. He was trying not to disturb the boy next to him because he knew the idiot actually liked stupid shit like this. Hanging out with people, watching shitty movies, and eating junk food.
He went to wipe his hands again, feeling the sweat build up dampen the legs of his pants. Suddenly they were enclosed in someone else's hands. He looked up, shocked to see Kirishima smiling at him.
“I know man it's cold, here let me help warm up your hands.”
Thank FUCK the lights were off because Bakugo was blushing like a fucking idiot.
“Yeah whatever.” He mumbled, glad he was provided with an excuse.
They stayed like that for the rest of the movie, Kirishima's hands around Bakugo’s. At some point he pulled one hand free to rest by his side,he shifted so he was facing forward to look directly at the screen.

Maybe being cold was just an excuse to get closer to Bakugo but Kirishima couldn’t figure out another way. Was he supposed to ask if he could cuddle his best bro? Bakugo would never go for that. So claiming he was cold was the only thing he could think of, and it worked. How many nights did they spend snuggled together in bed, how many times has Bakugo given him his jacket all in the name of warming up his best friend? Kirishima treasured those moments and now he was under the same blanket.
Kirishima had noticed his pal was fidgeting and restless, every few minutes moving his hands up and down his jeans. Oh. Bakugo must be trying to warm up his hands. He knew the cold made his friend uncomfortable, something about making it harder to use his quirk. It was an easy fix though so he clasped his hands around his smiling at him.
“I know man it's cold, here let me help warm up your hands.”
Bakugo mumbled his reply but he knew that was his way of saying thank you just….in his own way and honestly it was kind of cute. Kirishima just smiled, enjoying the softness of the other boy's hands. By the time the movie was over they were holding hands in the more traditional sense, still hidden under the blanket. At some point it became less about keeping him warm and more about…..well he still didn’t know what this was. He wasn’t going to complain though he was grateful. Grateful for a small moment like this, one he might not get again.
Everyone around them shifted, turning to each other to discuss the movie. No one seemed to notice the two on the couch sitting in silence, faces turned slightly to the side with a blush dusted on their cheeks. Kirishima gave Bakugos hand a little squeeze, which to his surprise returned. They had barely spoken all night but everything was said in that moment.
Kirishima stood up suddenly and cleared his throat,” Uh, I’m going to head to bed, I'm pretty tired guys.” Before anyone could say anything he all but ran from the room and into the elevator.
“What’s up with him?” Mina questioned.
Bakugo just shrugged his shoulders trying hard to concentrate on the lingering warmth in his hand.
