Chapter Text
Chloe and Lucifer have been together for 2 weeks now. Everything was going wonderfully. Maybe it was the honeymoon phase, but things were perfect. They have been glued to each other ever since they first slept together, being apart just in emergencies. Like, right now.
Lucifer had an emergency at LUX and left Chloe doing paperwork in the precinct by herself, with the promise he would come back to pick her up, since they drove there together from her house. He slept there last night. It was fun to have him sleepover at hers, maybe it’s even problematic to say this but she loved how he would cover her mouth during sex, not wanting her moans to wake up the urchin sleeping downstairs.
The sex was great, amazing even. So good she would get caught up daydreaming about it.
“Decker!” she heard Maze’s voice screaming at her while she zoomed out on her. “Did you hear anything I just said?”
“What? No, sorry. I was… well, never mind. What was it Maze?”
“Have you seen your man? The one you were just thinking about boning right now.”
Could she read minds or was she so obviously thinking about it?
“No, Maze. Sorry. I didn’t see Lucifer. And weren’t you mad at him? He told me he was there.” Chloe said while typing on her computer.
“Yeah, but I need to talk to him.” The demon said from the other side of her desk, with her feet over some papers.
Maze walked around the desk and set right next to Chloe, looking at her from above.
“Did you change your shampoo or something?” she said, pointing one of her blades at her.
“No, why?” Chloe stopped what she was doing to look at her, Maze never asked her about her shampoo.
“You smell different.” Maze said before leaning down to smell her neck. Chloe looked at her confused.
Chloe asked if it was a good thing, in which Maze just responded bouncing her shoulders, not caring.
“Well, I’m about to get my period so it must be that”
“Yeah, maybe,” Maze said before leaving.
***
One week later, and no sign of her period. But Chloe is not worried, not at all. Why would she? Lucifer couldn’t have children. Right? They were literally different species. Although Amenadiel made that theory irrelevant a while ago. And she knows her body. The back pain she was having? Unrelated, it was because of the excessive sex. Although Lucifer would never hurt her.
But no worries, maybe she was just stressed. It had happened before, she wouldn’t get her period when she was stressed, like after finding out Lucifer was the devil, her period never came until she came back from Rome. Now she’s stressed about not getting her period, which is delaying it. Obviously…
She should never have stopped taking birth control. But what could she do? She wasn’t fucking anyone, and Lucifer had left to hell, and she didn’t think he would come back, ever. And then he came back without warning, (well, Michael at first. But then Lucifer came back, for real this time) and it all happened so fast, she didn’t have time to go to the doctor.
But it doesn’t matter because she’s not… she is not. There’s no way that she is… ugh. There’s no way she’s pregnant, okay?! No way!
They haven’t been careful at all, though. She was the one who said “no need” when Lucifer offered to wear a condom their first time. She knew he didn’t have any STD’s and he couldn’t have kids so, no need. She always wore a condom. Always. Why didn’t they wear a condom?
All this wave of thoughts happened because of Lucifer, it’s his fault. He couldn’t sleep at her house, on a Friday night, and Trixie wasn’t there either. So, since she wasn’t going to have endless amounts of sex with her handsome boyfriend, she should open a bottle of wine to herself and enjoy a good binge-watch of The Bachelorette. But her head has been elsewhere lately, ever since Maze said she smelled different.
When she was pregnant with Trixie, a friend of hers, that is blind, told her the same thing. She smelled different. And she guessed Maze, for being a demon, would have a keen sense of smell as well.
She just wanted a glass of wine, but now she’s thinking that she shouldn’t have. What if she’s pregnant? It would hurt the baby. A baby she didn’t even know if she was having.
She should do the test. No. Not alone. If she was pregnant, she should do it with Lucifer, it’s his right as the father. Oh no, Lucifer? As a father? Fuck no. The man despises children. He would leave her. He would leave her to raise a half-angel baby by herself. Oh no. Half-angel baby. OH NO. HALF-DEVIL BABY.
She was overthinking. She. was. overthinking. She’s not pregnant! No way! She’s not even worried about it! Not at all!
Breathe in
Breathe out
Think Decker.
You can’t be pregnant.
Different species remember?
But Charlie… and she makes him vulnerable… maybe his vulnerability works for other body fluids too? She made him bleed!
No
No
She’s not going there. She’s going to drink this wine, just a glass. And tomorrow she will get her period. Calm down, Decker.

Chloe ended up sleeping on her sofa, after drinking half a glass of wine. Waking out with a beautiful British man holding a board with fruits, juice, cappuccino, her dad’s sandwich, and scrambled eggs.
“Good morning, love,” he said, sitting next to her while she stretches her body, her back pain got even worse during the night. Probably the sofa.
“Oh, hi there,” she said, leaning forward to give Lucifer a morning kiss. “How did you get in? You used the keys I gave you?”
“Yes, indeed,” he placed the board on Chloe’s lap, “I thought it would be a good idea to come over and make you breakfast. I’m sorry I wasn’t here yesterday, I missed you.” Lucifer moved a lock of hair from her face while she put a piece of mango in her mouth.
“Me too, and thank you, it’s so sweet of you,” Chloe said smiling and chewing.
Her head was going back and forth right now. Should she just tell him what was on her mind or wait a bit more, just to be sure? She doesn’t want to freak him out for nothing.
“What’s on your mind, darling?” she stopped her fork mid-way, putting it back on the board.
“…okay. I- I was wondering, yesterday, if maybe I could make you vulnerable in other ways too? You told me you chose to be vulnerable around me, at that’s why you bleed when I’m around. But do you think maybe your vulnerability could also be on other body fluids?” she looked down on his lap, shyly.
There was a big question mark on his forehead.
“Where is this coming from?” he took the board off her lap to get closer to her, he knew she was nervous, so he held her hands.
Maybe it was better to just say it now, there’s no way out if she really is pregnant.
“I’m late. I’m never late but I’m late.” She looked at her own lap, seeing her bare legs under a suit shirt Lucifer had forgotten on her house.
“Late? What do you mean late?”
“I did the math’s in my head, and the first time we had sex I was ovulating,” didn’t help, he wasn’t following, “and we didn’t wear a condom, and you didn’t pull out either, which I guess is my fault since I was on top… what I’m trying to say is, my period is late, a week late,” she looked down again.
Lucifer got silent and sat on the couch more comfortably, moving her legs above his lap and his hand on his chin. Trying to understand what she was saying.
He knows a lot about sex, everything maybe. But he almost never thought about the consequences of it. He can’t have kids, his celestial immune system burns every trace of virus or bacteria out of his body, but with Chloe is different, she made him vulnerable. In more ways than they previously believed.
“Have you done the test yet?” oddly mature of him to not joke about it, but also concerning.
“No, I figured you would want to be here for it,” she said shyly.
He kept being silent, caressing her legs softly. His eyes looking everywhere besides her, figuring out what do to next.
He leaned forward to the coffee table and grabbed the food board, putting it back on her lap. Then stood up and took the dirty dishes and her half-empty wine of glass to the kitchen, cleaning it while she ate, silently too.
Lucifer walked back close to the couch and looked at her from above. Holding his car keys, making her heart squeeze in her chest, thinking he would run away or something.
“I’m going to the pharmacy to buy a pregnancy test, while you finish eating. Do you want anything else?” he said.
“No, thanks. That’s all.”
“I’ll be back in 20,” he leaned down to kiss her. Although he was freaking out internally, they didn’t know anything yet, he had to keep at least a bit of normality.
If he was freaking out imagine her, does she even want to have a baby with him? The devil! He was the most irresponsible man since the creation of the universe, tons of daddy issues, what if he turned out to be as bad as his father?
Lucifer already knew he was unworthy of her, not nearly good enough as she deserves, and how he possibly will be the father of her child? A child that will be 50% perfect and 50%... him.
He parked his corvette in front of the nearest pharmacy, getting out in a rush in his three-piece suit, storming into the store and yelling “Where are the pregnancy tests?” and going in the direction an old lady gave him.
He grabbed one of which type there was, putting it inside a basket. The pregnancy tests were between the diapers and the condoms. He wondered if he should buy either of them. He optioned for the condoms, in case the test turned negative, and walked to the cashier to pay for the items.
The same old lady looked at him with lust after seeing the size of the condoms he bought, and tried to seduce him, and failed badly, biting the tip of her reading glasses and said “I hope it’s negative” which made Lucifer a bit mad, given the fact he doesn’t know what he wants the results to be. What does Chloe want? What if the test is positive and she sees the condoms? Will she think he doesn’t want the kid?
He paid and left. Before getting inside his corvette, he saw a baby store on the other side of the street. It wouldn’t hurt to look, right? He locked his car again and went to the store.
Getting inside it he was received with a wave of horny eyes from pregnant ladies. He looked around, not knowing what to do until a selling person approached him. He just told her he wanted the most expensive baby shoe they have, preferably one that isn’t gendered. Not that clothes define gender, it doesn’t.
She came back with a 300 dollars little Louboutin that looked just like the one he was wearing.
His world stopped for a moment, feeling his eyes teary just imagining his and Chloe’s baby with dark hair and light eyes matching shoes with him. Maybe he should buy a little suit too.
A single tear fell from his eyes. He didn’t even let himself process what all this meant until now. The love of his life was waiting for him to buy her a pregnancy test, this will change their lives forever. He never liked children, but having one of his own, that will be half as perfect as Chloe, would never go wrong. He liked her child with detective douche, who he likes to think he is better than. They will work this out. Everything was going to be fine.
Everything will be fine.
Lucifer paid for the shoes and left and went on his way back to Chloe’s house.

Chloe was walking around her living room when he arrived, she was worried he wasn’t coming back. Which is understandable, giving how many times he ran away when things got tricky in the past.
As soon as he opened the door, she ran to him with her eyes wide, he immediately opens the pharmacy bag and gave her the tests. She held all of them in her arms like a little baby and went to the restroom downstairs, closing the door behind her with her foot.
Lucifer stood there not knowing what do to. He set on a kitchen stool and rested his head on his hand, still holding the bag with the condoms and the little shoe with the other hand.
He listened to the toilet flushing and the door opening, so he stood up fast and left the bags on the desk in front of him, getting close to her.
“We have to wait three minutes now,” Chloe said, holding her own hand nervously.
Noticing how she was feeling, Lucifer hugged her tight while she started to cry softly on his shoulder, he caressed her back through it.
“I- I know y-you don’t like children, a-and I’m sorry this is h-happening, b-but is there any chance you f-feel at least a bit happy about it?” Chloe said in between tears.
“Chloe… you know I don’t lie and I will never lie to you,” Chloe was already waiting for the worst, “… I don’t really know how I’m feeling yet, I have so many doubts and fears already. But I’m sure of one thing, having a child with you, that will be half perfect because of you, cannot go wrong. So yes, I would say that if this test turns out to be positive, I will be the happiest, luckiest devil alive,”
She held him tighter and breathed on the cologne clued to his suit. Calming herself down until the alarm on her phone went off.
Four pregnancy tests were laying on the sink, the results facing the marble. Chloe held two and Lucifer the other two. They looked at each other already knowing what to do.
Three
Two
One
They flipped the tests, both felt like they could finally breathe.
Positive.
They were going to be parents.
“We’re having a baby,” Lucifer whispered to himself. He looked at Chloe, he couldn’t read her very well, but she was frozen, mouth half-opened, looking at the results in her hands. “Chloe?”
She looked at him, eyes starting to get watery. She smiled at him.
“We’re having a baby!”
