Chapter Text
I open the mailbox as twenty different envelopes stream past my hands and onto the floor, I grumble a bit before bending down and picking everything up. I wobble to my house as I try not to drop anything and manage to unlock the door.
I dump everything onto the counter as I sigh in relief before getting a glass of water. As I start sorting through the pile of mail a shiny one catches my eye. I frown as I grab it. It's a sparkling silver and blue envelope with neat calligraphy written on it, addressing it to Liam, Niall, and Zayn. At that, I frown even more because they've never gotten anything like this.
"Payno," I call out, "you've got mail." I hear footsteps before I see my mate of five years step into the kitchen, rubbing his eyes.
"Show me," he mumbles as he reaches out towards it. I snatch it back before he can though and say, "I'm gonna open it. It looks fancy though, I haven't seen anything like this before."
At that his eyes fully open and he tries to grab it with a noise of protest but it's too late and I've already opened it. My eyes skim over the paper as my face pales. I glance at Liam and he looks at me with puppy eyes, "I tried to warn you Lou, I'm really sorry."
My heart breaks as I read the words I never thought I would.
Harry's getting married to Amanda.
I raise my eyes, disbelief written all over my face, "You knew about this?"
He winces before replying, "Yeah, Niall and Zayn knew too."
"And when were you going to tell me?"
"Um..."
"You weren't going to tell me were you?" I don't give him a chance to reply, "I can't believe this, my three best mates were going to keep this a secret from me?" I say my voice rising as I wave the letter around.
Just then the front door opens and I can hear Niall's joyous laughter and Zayn talking about something. They walk into the kitchen and stop dead in their tracks as Niall's eyes widen comically. In some other situation, I definitely would have laughed.
"He found the letter?" Niall asks.
"Yeah, I found the letter, the one you guys weren't even going to tell me about."
Zayn's eyes cut to mine and they look apologetic before he speaks, "Louis try to understand, we didn't just want to drop a bomb on you. You're already so stressed about work and we just didn't want to make it worse."
My face crumples at that as I heavily sit down onto one of the chairs, as the gravity of this situation hits me. "I c-can't believe he's going to get m-married, and he d-didn't even t-think of i-i-inviting me." As my voice breaks and tears fall freely down my face.
Immediately all three of them rush over to my side and rub my back soothingly as they whispered words of encouragement. "Lou think about it, now that you know he's moved on, maybe you can try to too," Niall says as he tries to make light of the situation.
"But what if he's not happy. He was always happy with me, but I haven't seen him in years, I just need to see if he's happy though. Just once."
"But Lou the wedding is invite only. There's no way you can come."
I pout before a smile works onto my face, "I can sneak in!"
"I don't know if that's a good idea," Zayn says as he glances at Liam.
"No, no, it's brilliant, I can sneak in, and I can just see if he's happy. If he is then I'll leave, but if he isn't..." I trail off with a determined look on my face.
"If he isn't then what will you do?" Liam asks hesitantly.
"I'll do something to stop it."
"What will you do?"
"I haven't gotten that far yet Lima, but I have to do something, I can't just sit back and relax. There's no time for that. This is about Harry and it's about his happiness. I can't let him live his life miserably forever."
At that, a smile bursts out on all their faces as Niall speaks up, "Looks like it's time to crash this wedding."
