Work Text:

Seokjin looked up from his phone when the sound of the blow-dryer stopped. He had decided to wait for Namjoon at the hair salon so they could go home together, browsing through memes and sending his favorite ones to his and Namjoon's kakao chat.

"Thank you very much," Namjoon said to the stylist when they were done, offering a signature dimpled smile.

"You're welcome. I'll let your manager know we're finished," their usual hairdresser said, walking back to the reception desk and bowing goodbye to Seokjin on the way.

"How do I look?" Namjoon asked Seokjin nervously through the mirror. The agency and the group had agreed that the look that would best suit the concept of their Love Yourself: Wonder video would be a retro feel and the seven of them in dark hair, and Namjoon had been hesitant about going back to black after such a long time.

"You look really good," Seokjin reassured him, because he did. Namjoon checked himself out in the mirror, visibly coming to terms with the new color. "I know you think light hair suits you best, but you're a handsome brunet."

"Maybe not the most handsome?" Namjoon teased, because he knew Seokjin and he knew what was coming.

"You're right," Seokjin smiled. "I'm the most handsome brunet. On a worldwide scale, even."

Namjoon chuckled, getting out of the chair and sitting next to Seokjin on the couch. It was late at night and the salon was eerily empty, but this was the only time slot their busy schedules allowed them this week.

"You look..." Seokjin started, watching him up close now. "You look like the leader of rookie Bangtan is all grown up now."

"Yeah?"

"Yeah," Seokjin replied, running his fingers through Namjoon's freshly dyed hair. "Like the kid that used to sit next to me during fansigns in 2013 is a man now."

"Kid," Namjoon snorted. "A twenty-year-old kid you liked to sneak around and make out with."

"Hey, you were the one that asked for a kiss on your coming of age day," Seokjin protested, poking Namjoon's chest. "I was a good hyung and I provided. If we kept kissing each other after that, it's on you."

Namjoon's laughter burst out of him. "God, I love you," he said with a fond look and a big smile.

Seokjin got flustered, which, to his dismay, still happened when one of Namjoon's I love yous caught him by surprise. “Same.”

Namjoon chuckled, then leaned close to his ear and placed a hand on his knee, like a man on a mission, lowering the timbre of his voice. "So, if we started giving each other handjobs and blowjobs after that, is it on me too?"

"Stop it," Seokjin's ears turned bright red. "You're a menace."

Namjoon laughed. "Not a menace. I am a man now."

"Smartass," Seokjin huffed, bumping his shoulder against Namjoon's.

Namjoon chuckled, wrapping an arm around him, giving Seokjin a not so apologetic kiss on the cheek. "Sorry."

Their phones vibrated with a message notification at the same time, which meant the car was waiting outside to take them home.

Seokjin opened the door to Namjoon and Taehyung’s room, closed it behind him, and swiftly moved to Namjoon’s bed, getting under the covers and snuggling up to him in his pajamas.

Namjoon put his book down. “What’s going on?” he asked, his arm moving to hold Seokjin close to him, like a reflex. “Not that I’m complaining.”

“Taehyung and Yoongi are the first ones filming their parts, so they have to leave extra early for the schedule tomorrow,” Seokjin replied. “Tae and I decided to switch rooms for the night, so he doesn't wake you up and Yoongi doesn't wake me up.”

"Oh, that's nice," Namjoon said, rubbing Seokjin’s arm up and down. "We get the room all to ourselves."

"Uh-huh," Seokjin kissed Namjoon's lips.

"What time do we have to be up?” Namjoon asked.

“8 am.” Seokjin looked at his hair, combing a strand behind Namjoon's ear with his fingers, thinking about how the color framed Namjoon’s face in a different way.

"I guess,” Seokjin started, “this is what you would have looked like if the group had not come to be?”

"You think so?"

"Yeah," Seokjin looked at him. "A tall, good-looking business school graduate with undamaged hair?"

Namjoon smirked. "Business school graduate, huh?"

"Top of your class, no less," Seokjin added, smiling. "On your way to a successful political career in the ministry of economy and finance with a healthy, untouched scalp."

Namjoon laughed. "You seem to have given this a lot of thought," he said, amused.

"I know I'm not one for lingering much in the past, but we spend so much time waiting in backstage rooms one's mind can't help but wonder," Seokjin replied, playing with the collar of Namjoon’s pajamas.

"God, I know," Namjoon agreed, taking his glasses off. "Out of curiosity, do we meet? I've always felt like we were destined to meet each other in this life, no matter how different things would have turned out."

"I feel the same," Seokjin nodded, "so, we do." He wrapped an arm around Namjoon's waist. "When my co-anchor falls ill and I have to take their place interviewing you for a segment in the news."

"News anchor, interesting," Namjoon smiled, looking at him. "Is it love at first sight for us?" he asked.

"Oh no," Seokjin answered dramatically. "We hate each other at first, not understanding where the other is coming from, but fate keeps bringing us together and we eventually fall in love."

"A classic enemies to friends to lovers story, then," Namjoon nodded in understanding. "I like that."

"Yeah?" Seokjin smiled. "I would have guessed you were more the strangers to friends with benefits to lovers type of guy."

"Maybe you're right," Namjoon seemed to think about it. "But no unnecessary misunderstandings. Communication would be key."

Seokjin chuckled. "Of course."

Namjoon leaned in to give him a kiss. "Always."

Seokjin looked him in the eyes. "You know what we should do?" he asked.

"Go to sleep?" Namjoon replied. "Who knows when we'll get six uninterrupted hours again."

"You read my mind," Seokjin said, resting his head on Namjoon's chest, yawning. "We can always fool around in the shower tomorrow."

Namjoon laughed. "We'll have to be careful then," he said, turning off his bedside lamp. "Remember when I colored my hair bright red and your hands ended up all tinted from the excess dye in the shower?"

"Oh, I remember," Seokjin replied, chuckling. "Speaking of which, did you put a dark towel over your pillow?"

"I did," Namjoon answered, hugging Seokjin tight. "Good night, hyung."

"Good night. Love you."

"Love you too."

Notes:

Thank you for reading! (( I'm curious, how do you think Seokjin got his hands tinted red from Namjoon's hair in the shower? :p ))
