Work Text:
Essex sat at the bar in the officer’s club tilting her fifth empty glass back and forth in her hand. Or was it her sixth? It got hard to keep track after a while. And she had been here for a while. The ice cubes clinked from one side of the glass to the other as she scrolled through posts idly on her phone. There was nothing new left on Juustagram, and she was running out of other ways to distract herself. If she kept drinking, she’d just end up falling off the bar stool. She sighed and looked over at the table where Enterprise was drinking with Vestal and a few human naval officers.
Essex slid her phone into her pocket, rotated around on the stool, and slipped off it to the floor. It was times like these she was glad she didn’t wear high heels.
Conversation at the table petered out as she walked up behind Enterprise, whom Vestal nudged to look behind her. Essex lifted her right hand halfheartedly for a nervous wave. “M-Miss Enterprise, I wanted to ask you something.”
Enterprise smiled up at her, her cheeks rosy. “Sure, take a seat!” She scooted over, moving her drink to make room for Essex to pull up a chair.
Essex froze, filled with the paralyzing fear of a plan gone wrong. She’d thought out many ways this conversation could go, but this was not one of them. “I, uh, was hoping we could speak in private,” she stammered, hands gravitating to the hem of her skirt. Had she adjusted it after getting up from the stool? It was awfully short at a time like this. She could feel the others at the table leaning in with anticipation.
Vestal broke the silence. “C’mon, E, she’s left you alone all week. Probably just wants to check that you haven’t changed which brand of power bar you eat for breakfast!” The repair ship clapped Enterprise on the back as the others laughed.
“Yeah.” Enterprise nodded and slowly rose out of her seat. It was like watching a great serpent slowly uncoil itself as she assumed her full height. A rather tipsy serpent.
Essex couldn’t contain her smile, rubbing her hands together in excitement as Enterprise pushed her chair back in. With a curt nod, she turned and hurried back toward her seat at the bar, her long ponytail bobbing behind her.
“Or maybe she’s asking what underwear Enterprise wears so they can match,” one of the others at the table said. All laughed again, but Essex wouldn’t let it phase her.
Enterprise followed Essex, taking more deliberate steps. When she arrived, she leaned one elbow on the bar next to Essex’s seat and took a sip from the glass of beer she’d brought with her. This was perfect. Essex had gotten everything back on track. “So, what is it?” Enterprise asked, taking another sip.
“I- I want to know what you’re like in bed,” Essex blurted out. That was not according to plan at all. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.
Enterprise blinked and swallowed.
“Sorryitotallydidn’tmeantosaythatitjustsortacameoutimeaniwasgonnasaythateventuallybutlikemoretactfullyandsuaveyouknowandwithabitofcontextbeforehandandohgodiveruinedourfriendshiphaventifuckfuckfuckfuckfuck-” she trailed off as Enterprise raised her free hand to motion for her to stop.
“Essex, calm down.” She folded down all but her index finger to gesture for one moment and took another sip of her beer. A large one. She put the now-empty glass down on the bar and lowered her raised hand. “How many times have I told you to stop jumping to conclusions.”
“23. I keep track in my journal.”
“I- wow, okay. Anyways, that’s not the point.” Enterprise paused, exhaling deeply. “I…” She pinched the bridge of her nose then looked back up. “…am probably going to regret saying this, but what the hell. I haven’t gotten laid in a while-”
Essex’s face lit up. “Is that a yes!?”
“Yeah, yeah it is,” Enterprise said with a soft smile.
Essex couldn’t resist a small fist pump. She almost went to hug Enterprise, but that felt wrong now. “I, uh, hmmm… what, how word-”
“Let’s go to my place.”
Essex didn’t trust herself to do more than nod emphatically. She gleefully followed Enterprise out of the bar, sparing only a quick glance over her shoulder to see Enterprise’s old table-mates watching them leave in shock.
Essex sat down on the edge of Enterprise’s bed and toyed with the hem of her skirt again. She liked how it looked, but it was always on the verge of showing too much without careful management. Not that that should matter now.
Enterprise’s room was smallish, like all of the kansen dorms, but cozy; the walls were covered with photos, small memorabilia, and what appeared to be several stolen road signs; her furniture was well-arranged, but crowded with items and papers stacked on top.
“So, now what?” Essex asked as Enterprise closed the door behind herself and strode into the middle of the room, tossing her cap onto the cluttered desk in the corner.
“I was thinking something like this,” Enterprise said as she sat down next to Essex. She grasped Essex’s chin lightly between her thumb and forefinger, closing her eyes as she leaned in. Essex responded in kind, and they shared a soft first kiss. Then a second.
In a moment they were rolling on the bed while passionately kissing, first Essex on top, then Enterprise. Essex’s hands were erratic, grasping everywhere and leaving just as quickly while Enterprise simply used hers to pull Essex deeper into her embrace.
They finally broke apart, panting, with Enterprise lying on her back and Essex leaning over her.
“Wow, that all went so fast. I need to write that down.” She straightened up to reach for her small purse on the floor, which housed her current journal.
Enterprise grabbed her arm in a vice grip. “Don’t you dare. No writing. No pictures either.”
“Right.” Essex thought for a moment. “I guess I’ll have to just do everything in order from my list, to make sure I don’t forget anything then. We already covered kissing…”
“What list?” Enterprise asked warily.
Essex looked down at her, still lying on the bed, quirked her head for a moment in thought, then said, “ah, right!” She reached down and tore open Enterprise’s blouse.
“Hey-” Enterprise’s protest was cut short as the other carrier yanked her up by the tie and silenced her with a deep kiss. Essex’s hands were focused this time, one keeping hold of Enterprise’s tie while the other deftly pulled Enterprise’s overcoat off one arm at a time, then her blouse, then fumbled with her bra as their kiss progressed to aggressive lip-biting. She gave up and released Enterprise, who fell back to the bed, breathing hard again.
“Ohh, a front clasp. And so lacey too.”
“I… it’s…” Enterprise trailed off as Essex unhooked her bra, lifting her shoulders so the purple-haired carrier could pull it off.
“Ah, finally.” Essex hummed as she stared down intently at Enterprise, taking the moment to finally kick her boots off.
“What are you doing?” Enterprise asked after a moment.
“Making sure I remember. Since you won’t let me take a photo.”
“M-Maybe some other time.” Enterprise’s cheeks blazed even redder as she swept a strand of hair out of her face.
Essex leaned down and kissed Enterprise on the sternum. The white-haired carrier shuddered. Then Essex paused. It hit her how insane this moment was. It was far too good to be true. She thought of her journal again. She didn’t even have words to describe it. It was like her head was exploding. Some kind of inverse headache of pleasure instead of pain. Her whole body felt tingly and electrified, more sensitive than she could remember. Wherever she pressed against Enterprise, it was a million degrees, and the rest of her numb and ice cold.
“Don’t just stop, you’ve been doing so well.” Enterprise turned onto her side, looking down at Essex, whose head was now rested on her right breast.
“Really!?” She was wrong. A million degrees wasn’t nearly enough. More like a billion.
“Taking charge… it’s like a whole new side of you.” She smiled again, that same soft smile as in the bar. Essex so rarely saw that smile directed at her. A trillion degrees. It was definitely a trillion.
Essex surged into motion, rolling Enterprise onto her back as she mounted her and pulled her into another kiss. This one was hungrier—a lot of tongue from the start. She needed to know that Enterprise was feeling like her. Feeling that same heat, the same pulsing desire building and boiling into an angry scream from her loins. This time she was the one pulling the other tight against her—willing their two beings to merge into one—while Enterprise dug her nails into Essex’s back, bucking her hips underneath her. Essex broke the kiss, licking up the strand of spit connecting their mouths with slow deliberation. She slid backwards off Enterprise and dropped to her knees on the floor before the other carrier.
“May I?” she asked, lifting Enterprise’s still-booted left leg.
“Now you’re asking?” Enterprise tossed her head back and let out a snort.
“You always told me not to make the same mistake twice.”
“Well, it was kind of hot… but you better sew those buttons back on.” Enterprise threw her arms up and lurched forward to sit up. “Go on, I want to see what you do next.”
Essex unbuckled Enterprise’s thigh-high boot and slowly tugged it off. She ran her hands up and down the length of Enterprise’s smooth, supple leg with a hum, and placed it on her right shoulder. She repeated the process with the other leg, then looked up at Enterprise and quirked her eyebrows. She might not have the words for it, but she suspected her tongue could still communicate with Enterprise pretty well. She slid forward under Enterprise’s skirt, savoring the feeling of her thighs pressing against either side of her face.
Soon, she had Enterprise gasping and moaning, her legs locked together behind Essex’s head. Essex lost track of where the rest of her body was or what it was doing. She couldn’t possibly comprehend why that would matter anyway. Her whole world was that warm, wonderful place between the soothing pressure of Enterprise’s thighs where a flick of her tongue or a careful nibble could make the woman she most admired in the world scream in ecstasy.
Enterprise’s legs squeezed tighter around Essex’s head, and she grabbed it with both hands as her whole body shook in tremors, digging her fingers into Essex’s hair as she grasped for purchase. Something hot flowed into Essex’s mouth as Enterprise called out her name.
Cum. I just made Enterprise cum. Holy shit.
The explosions in Essex’s head intensified. It was like she was flipping head over heels non-stop. She suspected her vision would be blurry if it weren’t already so dark under Enterprise’s skirt. She couldn’t hear Enterprise anymore. Or was she just far away? It was definitely getting darker. That was weird.
Essex’s eyes flicked open. She was lying in a bed staring at the ceiling. Had it all been a dream? She still felt light-headed, but that could just be a hangover. Maybe. She sat up and rubbed her eyes.
“Oh, thank god, you’re awake!”
Essex snapped her head around to see Enterprise kicking the door to her dorm closed with her heel. She was topless, wearing just her skirt, and had a couple developing hickeys on her neck and collarbone. In her hand she held a glass of water.
“I want you to know I just ran out to the floor kitchen looking like this for you. C’mon, drink.” She crossed the room and handed Essex the glass.
Essex drank it gladly, finding she was—apparently—parched. After she’d downed the whole glass, she looked back up at Enterprise. “Thank you.”
“I’m just glad you’re okay. You are okay, right?”
“Feel fine. More or less.”
Enterprise let out a breath and sat down on the edge of the bed next to her. “If that’s the case, do you, uh, y’know, want me to do anything with you? I mean, you spent the whole time pleasing me…”
“Oh, I came seven times,” Essex said, closing her eyes and giving a broad smile.
“What?”
Essex broke into the laugh she’d been suppressing. “No, no, I’m kidding. Might as well have at the end though. I’m pretty beat.”
Enterprise shoved her to the bed, but Essex popped right back up, and they both laughed. After a moment, Enterprise rose. “Well, I’m gonna take a shower. Care to join me? I’ve got extra PJs.” She added the last bit in a singsong voice, turning to walk to her dresser and bending over deeply at the hip as she rummaged through a drawer. With a shake of her rump, she straightened up with an old t-shirt in hand.
“Yeah… that’d be nice,” Essex said as she watched Enterprise pull the t-shirt on over her lithe frame.
Enterprise sauntered back over to the bed, grabbed Essex by the chin, and gave her a quick kiss. “Up and at ‘em.”
