Chapter Text
Chapter One
Cas rubbed his face as he read over the file the police captain had handed him. He was three months into the organized crime and Occult division. This was his first big case, the Winchesters. Dean, the oldest, ran the restoration garage along with a couple of night clubs. BDSM club his twin sister Artemis was in charge of, Sam the youngest of the three, was the family lawyer there was nothing he couldn't get his siblings out of. He always seemed to find the loophole in the law.
“You ready for tonight?” Captain asked, stopping at Cas’s desk.
“Is there anything else I should know?” Cas questioned, closing the file.
“The sister has magic that I have never seen a witch do in all my studies,” the Captain replied, leaning against the deck and folding his arms.
“So, in other words, be careful?’ Cas replied a little worried about his assignment to get close to the Winchesters and report back.
The Captain smiled, telling him he should be fine, he was attractive, and Artemis did like pretty people. Cas shook his head, standing from his chair and collecting his things before heading home to get ready to head out to the Huntress night club for the fundraise to help LGBTQ plus kids. The latter had been kicked out of homes and had nowhere to go. He had read that despite everything, the Winchesters were wanted, or the community loved them for how much they gave back.
He said good night to the Captain informing him he would check in later with an update. Cas grabbed the photograph of the twins out of the file, so he knew who to look for. Heading out to the car Cas got the feeling that someone was watching them; he shook it off, thinking he was just paranoid about living in a new city.
As he pulled up to his apartment complex, he sighed, looking at the run-down building he called home, but moving was expensive, and that was all Cas could afford for the time being. He triple-checked that he locked his car before heading up the stairs greeting a neighbor that always seemed to be outside before opening his door to let himself in. Cas tossed the key and phone on the table before walking into his room and then he bathroom to take a shower washing the days grime away.
Cas grabbed the nicest and only suit he owned, putting it on. He checked himself out in the mirror, trying to fix his perpetually messy hair giving up after a few minutes. Making sure the rest of him was presentable, he grabbed his phone, keys, and wallet heading back out the door and to the car.
The club was a thirty-minute drive from his apartment. He was impressed by the turn out it looked like the whole community showed up in support. Of course, a few people with signs saying homosexuality was a sin. It goes against God and the bible. Cas knew that all too well, being the son of a preacher, he learned the Scripture inside and out. Standing in line, rocking back and forth, trying to figure out how he was going to meet Artemis and her brothers when a short brunette woman walked up to him.
“Are you Castiel Novak?’ she questioned, looking a little impatient.
“Umm, yes. Why are you asking?” Cas replied, looking around
“Follow me, Artemis wants to meet you,” she said, turning on her heel and heading back into the club.
Cas hesitated for a moment before following the woman wondering how they knew he was there and what he was going to say once he met the Winchesters. The music was loud, and the bass vibrated through his it was strange he had gone to a fundraiser once as a rookie, and it was nothing compared to what was going on int the club tonight.
Long tables full of foods and soft drinks lined the back wall, the dance floor full of people swaying to the beat or grinding against each other. The brunette tugged on Cas’s sleeve when he stopped to watch what was going on.
“Miss doesn't like to be kept waiting,” she said, not letting go of Cas’ sleeve as she pulled him along behind her.
Cas took a deep breath as he followed Meg up the stairs to a sectioned off area. She was whispering something to the burly man standing outside the roped-off area before he stepped to the side before lifting the rope. He nodded to the man, ducked under the cable to be greeted by a giant of a man that Cas knew as the youngest Winchester, Sam.
“Nice to meet you, I'm Sam,” he said, holding out his hand.
“Castiel, but I guess you knew that already,” Cas replied, shaking the man's hand.
Sam nodding and smirk, “this are my siblings, Artemis and Dean,” he said, pointing to them, respectively.
Cas didn't know what say the photo in the file didn't compare to the beauty in front of him, Dean was tan muscular, his green eyes were beautiful Cas didn't know what to say when Dean smirked at him. He could feel the blush creeping up his cheek.
“Take a seat, Detective,” Artemis said with a tone that made Cas uneasy.
He nodded and sat down in the free chair opposite Artemis. She was as stunning as her brother. Cas was pretty sure he could see the magic floating around him a light pink and purple. The twins had an aura about them that screamed danger, and it was pulling him in, he wanted to know more.
“Drink?” Artemis asked with a smile. One of the waitresses walked in with four champagne glasses setting the glass in front of each of them.
“Thank you,” Cas said, taking a small sip watching everyone else.
“So, what brings you here?” Dean asked, setting his glass back down on the small table in front of them and leaning back on the couch that he and his sister occupied. Crossing his leg and leaning back, placing his arms over the couch like he had nothing to hide.
Cas cleared his throat and took a bigger swallow of his drink before answering. Saying that he had heard about the fundraiser and wanted to check it out and see how he could help maybe donate. Artemis leaned forward like she was going to say something but Dean placed a hand of her shoulder,
“And the fact that your department keeps raiding our clubs and following Artie and me around has nothing to do with anything?’ Dean asked, scooting forward-looking into Cas’s eyes.
Cas didn't know what to say he finished his glass of champagne, “My dad kicked me out of the house when I came out to him. I lived on the street for years before I finally made it into the academy,” he finally managed to say.
He felt his head start to get cloudy, and his vision blurred, “Woah, what is going on?” he asked, looking around.
“Simple spell, tell us why you are really here,” Artemis said, getting up from her seat and knelt by Cas.
The pounding on the door made Cas’s head hurt more than it should, why was his mouth so dry? What was that awful tasted? His stomach rolled as he got out of the bed. He walked to the door peeking through the hole.
“Cas! Open up! I know you are in there,” his partner yelled through the door.
“Give me a second,” Cas mumbled as he pulled the door open.
“You look like crap, what happened to you?’ Hannah, his partner of the last six months, asked as she pushed past him.
“I don't remember last night is all a blur, too much wine,” Cas complained as he shut the door and made his way in the kitchen.
Hannah told him he went to the club to check out the Winchesters and was supposed to report back; Cas shook his head saying he never went, that he came back his apartment, and took a shower. Anything after that is blank, but he was sure it was from all the wine, he said, pointing to the recycling.
“I swear that girl, she wiped your memory,” Hannah said with a sigh sitting down on the stool at the counter in the kitchen.
“Ok, do you want coffee?’ Cas asked, getting ready to make a pot.
“We can get someone the way; get dressed, we need to see the captain.”
*************
Dean stretched as he got out of bed, heading to the bathroom before heading to his sister's room. Sam was already in her room they were talking while Artemis looked over a file, she smiled when Dean knocked on the door, he couldn't be mad at her for protecting the family.
“The cop is fine by the way, barely got him home before he puked,” Dean said, making his way further into her room.
“I have never seen a reaction that bad; I sent a basket to the police station. Cas should be alright as long as he eats the cookies,” Artemis said, handing the file back to Sam.
Dean sighed and rubbed his face; Artemis walked over to him, wrapping her arms around his middle, squeezing her brother tight. “I know,” was all she said before letting go and heading out of the room.
“I hate when she does that,” Sam said, following their sister out of the room.
Dean nodded and went to find his siblings, heading down to the dining room to start breakfast and talk over everyone's plans. It was something they often made sure they all knew where and what they do in case anything happened. Artemis was the only one who actively practiced her magic. At the same time, her brothers used theirs occasionally when she needed help with a spell or to be healed.
Artemis grabbed the pot of coffee and sat it in the middle of the table before sitting down to eat, telling Sam that if Ruby wanted to join them, he should go get her with a smirk. Sam shook his head nothing got past Artemis he headed back out of the dining room going to his place to get his on and off again play partner and one of Artemis’s best friends.
“You should take this back to the detective,” Artemis said, holding up his ID.
“What did you do to it?” Dean asked, taking it from his sister.
“If you don't want him to remember that mind-blowing kiss, I saw you give him then give it back,” Artemis smirked, reaching for the ID.
Dean shoved the ID in his pocket, making it clear that he was more than happy to visit the police station after breakfast. Sam made his way back down with Ruby, who gave Artemis a shy smile and grabbed a plate filling it with food. They talked about their agendas for the day and who was going to be where deciding to meet up if they had time for lunch.
Dean walked into the police station like he owned it, heading to the front desk. He spotted Cas and his partner looking over the basket that Artemis ha sent over.
“Artemis, that's a unique name. Where does it come from?’ Cas questioned.
“Artie and I were born during a full moon. Our dad thought it fitted at least that's what he told us,” Dean replied, smirking at the detective while holding up his ID.
Cas grabbed his wallet and looked inside; seeing that it was missing, he didn't remember removing it. He furrowed his brow at Dean, trying to take it, but Dean pulled it out of his reach, challenging the cop to grab for it again.
“I won't play this game with you,” Cas said in an extremely serious voice.
Dean smirk and bit his bottom lip, ‘that's not what you said last night,” he said, handing Cas his Id before turning and heading out the door, making sure the detective got a good look at his ass.
He made his way to his car, spotting his sister leaning against the passenger door, “I thought you went to work,” Dean remarked as he got closer.
“I am at work. How did it go? Did he eat the cookies?” Artemis inquired, turning as Dean walked around to the driver's side.
“Everything is fine, and yes, you know I hate when you astral project,” Dean said, opening the door.
Artemis shrugged and said to meet her at the diner in an hour.
Dean pulled into the parking lot of the diner his sister SUV was already parked he pulled into the spot next to it, he sighed and turned his car off. He was excited to have lunch with his sister. They tried to do it every day, but a lot of the time, it was a video call between the three of them while they ate.
Artemis waved Dean over to the table she was sitting at looking over files.
“What's up with that?” Dean asked, nodding to the folder in his sister's hand.
‘I am going to have to fire the new waitress, she is fucking her boyfriend in the club on the days it's closed, deleting the flies or trying to anyway. I know someone is stealing. I'm trying to figure out how they used a cloaking spell,” Artemis replied, closing the folder and turning her brother's attention.
“Busy day,” Dean replied, ‘so Cas do you think? Maybe?”
Artemis smiled at her brother; it wasn't often Dean found someone he connected with. “Dearest bother, why do you think I gave him his memories back?” she replied, taking his hands.
Dean nodded and smiled, sitting back as the waitress walked up with their food, winking at Dean as she walked away, Artemis shook her head taking a bite of her burger as her phone went off.
“Son of bitch!” Artemis yelled, making the whole restaurant turn around, “they are raiding the club.”
She told Dean to meet her there, and she would call Sam on the way.
Dean got the food boxed up, deciding it was a good idea to take it with him knowing his sister she would forget until late into the night to eat.
By the time Dean got to the club, Artemis had blown out all the lights the cops outside talked about how each light had gone out as she walked by. He shook his head as he walked by them, going to find his sister.
“What are you touching? Do touch the toys! Do you have any idea how long it takes to clean things?”
Dean could hear Artemis yelling at the cops. Sam must not have been there yet to keep Artemis from doing something that would get her arrested again, not that any of the charges ever stuck. Still, it did make Sam's job harder.
“Artie, come on,” Dean said, grabbing his sister by the arm. He felt the magic flowing through his sister. She always had a hard time controlling her temper.
Artemis growled low in her throat before pulling her arm away and storming out of the door, making it slam in Dean's face. He shook his head and opened the door heading down to Artemis’s office Sam in there, attempting to calm his sister.
“We are opening in six hours; they are touching things they shouldn’t be,” Artemis said, sitting down in her chair behind her desk, rubbing her temples.
Sam walked behind his sister and rubbed her shoulders, “it will be ok, I promise I can sue them again for anything dirty or broken. The last time they raided, Artemis had to hold off on opening b a few hours costing her thousands in revenue.
“Artie, it will be ok; we need to re-do the spell,” Dean said, setting her box of food in front of her.
She sighed and nodded as an officer walked into the office, asking to see employee files. Sam started to say they needed a separate court order that they were private. Still, Artemis stopped him, beaconing the cop forward she smiled, Dean smirked and shook his head as the cop feel into a trace.
“Good boy, now tell your captain there's nothing to see here, and we do not employ anyone underage,” Artemis smiled as she stood walking around her desk to meet the officer. She trailed a finger down his chest as a goofy smile appeared on his face. He nodded and headed out the door.
Artemis sat back down at the desk as her brothers smirked, “I invited the detective tonight, and I sent him a present,” she said, smiling at Dean.
Dean half sighed and rubbed his face. This was not what he wanted when it came to getting to know the detective.
“I promise, I will behave,” Artemis said, reading her brother's face.
Sam laughed as he headed out of the office to check on the officers making sure they weren't screwing up the night's opening. Dean waited until Sam was out of the room.
“Artie, why?” Dean questioned, looking at his twin.
“I would tell you what I saw, but there's no fun in that,” Artemis replied.
